    Very stylish Charlie, those would take a lot of beers ! 😂🍺
    You're always so busy I can't imagine you ever having the time to use a hot tub !

      Thanks Andy and good to hear from you. Yes, there's not a lot of time particularly at the moment but I've set it up a much for the kids as anything. 👊

    Really enjoying your videos. Been catch up on the old ones. One comment on an old, we put our underfloor heating pipes in the slab, no screed needed. We lay 35mm welsh slate on top and no problem with heat.

      Thanks, reality appreciate that. Did you put any insulation in below the slab?

    Glad to see a small update with the hottub lid. I must have missed a video about the base insulation. A proper update would be welcome, to highlight what worked and what didn't, for the benefit of anyone who might just be starting out along this insulation route.

      @CharlieDIYte  2 місяці тому

      The base insulation didn't work well and the foil came off on the decking. I just stick to using the rubber mat that came with the hot tub these days.

    bought some of these gloves - they really are good, i love that they dont go crispy and sticky when left exposed to uv :) oh and top work on those bench seats :)

      Thanks, really appreciate that. They're great aren't they and the thinner ones still allow you to crack on with the job without losing any dexterity. 👊

    A little off topic but now you’ve fired up the hot tub again I’d be interested to know how the insulated lid you made helped reduce energy costs.

    Have you seen the foam insert hot tubs ? also I use a camping calor gas heater for filling.(mains) and heating the supply to the tub periodically, was planning on using the drain point, a shower pump, to have a re-heat loop, far quicker and cheaper than the electric tub heater.

      Great tips. You can also get a bipass kit on Amazon to clean the heater without having to drain and refill, dose and then drain again the entire tub.

    They look good but i definitely would have painted them black before any of that varnish to cover up where the welds have been ground down

    Nice job Charlie, need to get a beer out to try it out 👍
    I see Lidl are selling their parkside welding kit at the moment, you could have made a DIY set of benches using their welder? Personally I’m happy to leave welding and metal bending to the experts….
    One comment on the build though, it looked like you treated all the frames with rust inhibitor and varnish, and then at the end drilled all those holes through to secure the top slats. Would introduce opportunity for water to weep under the slats and rust around the holes. Of course you can’t stop water running to the holes but it might have been better to drill all the holes and then put the anti-rust and varnish protectors on so the inside of the holes get covered as well

      @CharlieDIYte  Рік тому +1

      It's a fair point. I drilled the holes between inhibitor and varnishing and I guess even if I had drilled them first there's no guarantee the inhibitor and varnish would totally rust proof the holes. However the benches are under cover after I put the pergola roof in so I'm not overly worried about the holes. I was really just trying to stop the majority of the rust. Thanks though. Fair point 👊

    Nice benches ! only welded corners not so nice look. all in black would be nice.
    and you get some lesson before leave in garage for longer time, treat black metal with some primer, to avoid rust. i got that lesson too, some time ago😂

    Hi Charlie A nice collaboration with your self and the fabrication man , which has produced a grate outcome . We’ve often looked at these hot tubs , but wondered if they would be effective compared to a fibreglass type . So would you recommend one , after your experience of using one . Kind regards as always 😀👍👍👍

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  11 місяців тому

      Thanks. The thing about these is they're a lot cheaper than the fiberglass ones and much easier to clean. The comment I get a lot from friends of my daughter's who's used both is that mine looks a lot more hygienic!

      @@CharlieDIYte thanks for the reply , interesting about the cleaning aspect , you’ll have to do a video on how you clean the tub 😂. Kind regards as always

    What happened with the insulation panel underneath? Trapped moisture and caused rot?

    @CharlieDIYte How is the thermostat on your hot tub? I just up mine for its 3rd season and the first thing I noticed was that the water wasn't as hot as it should be. The display still read 104 degrees F (40 C) but a digital thermometer showed 99F (37C).

    When hanging doors what would he the reason a joiner recessed two hinges but leaves one not recessed
    His reason was the door frames are very old and fair bit wider at the bottom so leaving the bottom hinge not recessed would make sense
    Have you ever seen that

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  11 місяців тому

      Yes he's done that to get the door to hang more true in the frame. If he hadn't there would have been a bigger gap between the door and the frame.
