Just realized this is the bike I bought in Virginia once I saw the ziptie in the middle and the church. Thanks again for the bike! Still running good! I'll return the ram mount soon.
I'm a newbie to motorcycles. What are 70/30 tires? I want to be able to have a bike that is as good on gravel roads as it is on asphalt. A trip to Alaska might be in my future and I would like to have the bike ready for some gravel roads as well as the asphalt. I like to fish and a lot of the roads where I want to go won't be paved.
I have the '12 manual and it's an awesome bike. Technically slow compared to sport bikes but I easily kept up with my sport-touring group on very spirited riding. Gears 2-5 are very sporty because of the torque.
I have this bike and I love it. I'd like to trade it in for an Africa Twin, but would miss the miles-per-gallon and the frunk too much to go through with it 🙃
I love my manual, all black 2012 model. It really is a keeper. Amazing mileage, it's really comfortable to ride, you sit high enough to have a great view over most cars. Cannot recommend the NC enough.
Hi, great video. I own an nc700s (the same but in naked version) You forgot to mention that a foot gear lever exist as an accessory part for the DCT model. I installed it and its fantastic. I usually ride in automatic in the city and manual on the road. You can use the shifting paddles or the foot lever both ar useable at any time but i preffer the foot shifting.
I have a 2015 NC700 DCT in black. Everyone I know either rides a Harley or a sport bike. People say my bike is "cool", but no one would ever buy one. I absolutely love this bike and I grew up around bikes that my dad owned from the 1980s on. People don't like it in the U.S. because it doesn't follow the status quo and isn't loud, powerful, or fast. The ego to riding is what kills this bike in the U.S. and in 2023 they only carry the DCT model. I fear the time is near that it will disappear in the states completely.
I would like to try taking an alloy swing-arm off of a 2014 or later integra and swap out the steel one from my NC. I think there is a euro model with reverse forks that I would like to swap into my bike. After nearly 80000 miles on mine the only failed equipment on it are the lock for the frunk and the steering lock mechanism that can take 10 minutes or more fiddling with it to unlock. I just don't use it anymore. This model is pretty low on the bike theft list so I'll take my chances.
With a few modifications would this be a good bike for gravel roads and some light off road riding? Tires and an engine shield for starters. I was also wondering if that big box on the back for storage is easily removed for when you don't really need it and if when it is loaded if it changes the bikes handling much. It looks as though the bike might be a bit top heavy and consequently harder to maneuver when it's loaded.
I realize this is a month late, but I just wanted to respond anyway. There's a bit of a cult following for ADV riding among NC owners (and I'm one of them). Right out of the box, it will do gravel roads and light offroad just fine. There are solid options for decking it out to do harder stuff. SW-Motech, Givi, and others make crash protection for it, and you can put good blocky ADV tires on it as well - TKC80s and Shinkos will fit the NC's 17inch rims. As for being top-heavy, most ADV riders prefer soft side bags for the reasons you mention, plus the soft bags are less likely to pin your leg on a tough trail. Top boxes are nice in congested cities and are trivial to remove for a weekend in the dirt. And speaking of weight, the NC carries its weight quite low, so it has a leg over most top-heavy ADV bikes, so even with some luggage, it's more manageable than some of the competition. The achilles heel of the NC is the harsh suspension, but there are fixes for that as well. ADVRider has extensive forum posts on various owners' journeys adventurizing NC700Xs, and I encourage you to read up over there if you're considering an NC for ADV riding.
I consider to buy the 2013 version with 6 speed manual transmission. The bike is in very good condition. The owner ask for 2400 USD. The bike has just tipped 20.000 km. Is there anything special to look out for when buying this second hand. I am an expat living in Cambodia, so I wonder if the bike has the same specifications world wide
Have you ridden one of the newer NC750 with DCT? I am trying to decide if buying a used 2015 NC700 or a new 2023 750x is a better play. It's almost double the price but I heard the early DCT was not very great.
Is the real feelable difference in power between 700x and 750x much?. Are there any other differences. Also I am like 1.70sm tall. Is it enough for this bike?
Needs mentioning is the fact it was replaced back in 2018 with the 750 GS and most of it’s quirks fixed. It is a well proven machine and a great value for those looking for a 19” front Adv. I rode this and it’s replacement and this earlier version is definitely more viby 😅 Thanks 🙏
What are you talking about? 750 GS is BMW and it has nothing to do with this bike which wasn’t replaced and is still in production as an updated model but still mostly the same.
@@mindspinn311 correct you are That is what happens when you comment on YT but the video has already bumped up to the next… They should fix this annoying bug 😃😃
Turn NC700X into a smaller hybrid baby Africa Twin that Honda never built... It might be possible to modify the NC700X cheaper with Honda Oem parts from e.g. CRF line, Africa Twin and so forth ua-cam.com/video/PwmzYi-HOtA/v-deo.html

Rode mine to the Prudoe bay alaska. Great motorcycle had 70/30 tires. It has 98k miles.
Well done. Any issues with it?

@@richardwestmoreland4796 Specficially I picked the "tkc 70" Continental tires. 70% onroad / 30% offroad.

Im in Europe traveling, and the nc700x and nc750x are extremely popular here.

Have it for almost a month and i love it. Got enough power for me to have some fun and its pretty much a perfect workhorse

Most underdated bike from the last decades. It can do everything! Maybe not win a GP, but who needs that?
Yeah the more i appreciate this bike as the gas prices continue to rise. And easy to work on. Not many out there as easy like this.

I have the manual version. Wouldn't trade it for anything. 200 miles from 10 litres, only doing 3,500 revs at 70 mph.
Easy on maintenance, great gas mileage...sounds like the making of a great machine.
I've always found those bikes interesting. The great mpg makes up for the tires you inevitably have to purchase at a faster wear rate than cars.
my only complaint is the windscreen. I can't find one that prevents buffeting while not looking weird on the bike
An honest bike! Still own one despite I hate it for the first year...

Hard to get one of these since they are low in production numbers

super reliable and even Genuine Honda parts are not that expensive. Built to last, Not Fast.
Dct was on the vfr1200f in 2010 btw

Anyone know where I can get that pad for the rear box!?

Where is that back cushion rest on the back storage from?
Amazon.

you would fit. The bike is on the taller side. But 6'4 the proportions of a vstrom are better for you.
Ditch the dark screen, and add a shaft drive, and im taking one home.
I wish it had a shaft drive. I wish mid sized bikes had that.

Erm not really
A scooter style engine. Maybe you could compare the dct to a scooter. The manual version is much much better.
