The tidecraft looks like a beater boat, the work horse. Bass Cat, the Sunday drive. Either way you slice it, it's a hole in the water surrounded by wood that you throw money in. 'Bout Ohh... Another Thousand. Good Luck, Fish On!
If you have a side mount OMC control box on the Basscat find an older boat shop that serviced OMC outboards. In those years they only used a limited number of keys that fit those controls. I once lost my key and I went to a dealer that had an OEM ring with all the different keys that were available. They simply when through the keys until they found the one that fit then cut two new ones to match. Only about $10 out the door and no wiring needed.
Try this first before you try to get all the ignition wiring. I once lost a set for a merc motor and went to the local Dealer, they ask what key number I had and well Da I dont know. The handed me a ring that must of had 500 keys on it. Found a match and the guy at the desk says 5 bucks. Saved the weekend.
Also when you buy old bass boats like that the number one thing you need to check is the Transoms, I bought a 1986 18ft Skeeter with a Yamaha 150 V max, I was gonna do everything you did, payed 1100 for it took to a shop to go through and check motor compression, that was good but then they told me the transom was rotten, I guarantee those old boats have rotten transoms, I sold mine for 2k saved and bought a sweet like new 20ft Bullet bass boat with a Mercury sports Xs 225 84mph boat
Last year I bought a 2001 ranger r83 with 4 lowrance elite ti 2 units for $15k has a barely used optimax 150 the boat is in phenomenal shape aside from some seats needing replacement. Probably the best purchase I have ever made. Yeah I probably paid a little too much but I absolutely love it!! It’s also in an old school color that is not common anymore
I would have just got the Bass Cat... Put all your time in that one! Bass Cats hold their value, and everyone wants one! Get a locksmith if you cannot get the key from Bass Cat. Should be able to get a key cut for it. Get new Bass Cat Pantera decals from Bass Cat Manufacturer. Call them and let them send you the new ones. Buy new Bass Cats seats instead of dealing with all of that. Other reupholstering you can do. Likely need new batteries and bank charger. New trolling motor. I would foot recess mount that. Dash looks like it needs to be reassembled. Guy must have had a graph he took out. I would buy the new Bass Cat steering wheel for it. New latches, check pumps for leaks, all recirculation wells working and bilge pump. Steam clean the carpets. Motor likely needs new plugs, carb/injectors cleaning. Fresh gear oil. That's a start. That's about $4,500 +1500 = $6,000 good condition boat. Everything needs to be working optimally. Putting money in a boat is expensive, but beats a monthly boat payment. You also may need to get trailer work. Part of the $4.5k is the trolling motor. That will cost about 2k itself. Keep in mind you will be doing all the work yourself. The other part will be seats, wire harnesses, pumps, oil, Butt seats, Graph, Batteries, charger, hot foot. etc.. But, you would have a great boat.
I own a 1998 Tidecraft Wildfire 150 and I love it. It is the most stable casting platform I’ve been on. This is due to hull shape of a “V” to a flatter front hull. It’s an awesome boat. Team Tidecraft.
I owned a tidecraft wildfire, which is same boat in bass boat. The bottom is a hydrostream vector hull..150 on jackplate with 24 chopper ran low 70s....fast hull
See if there are numbers on the ignition switch. You might be able to just order a new key for it. A lock smith might be able to help also. I would try to get the other boat running and then put it up for sale.
BassCat boats are the best built boat on the market but with that being said that year model still has a ton of wood in it. You need to stop worrying about the gel coat and interior and focus on making sure the transom is still solid and fix the soft spot around the drain. I can tell that boat has been left outside uncovered for a long time with water standing in it. Hints why the floor is soft around the drain. Hopefully the floor stringers and the transom are still solid. Someone has sprayed automotive clear coat on it instead of gel coat that’s why it is flaking off. Once it’s fixed you won’t regret it they are awesome boats. Good luck!
I got my first bass boat for 3500$. An old Skeeter 19' that I restored over the Canadian winter along with my father. The restoration was paid for with money from snowblowing (we have farm tractors, and get multiple feet of snow per week up this far north). I spent another 6000$ in repairs and cleaning. My uncle took the motor into his shop and rebuilt it. When we were done, it was as close to new as you could get. 20 years later, and im still fishing in a skeeter, just newer, and much more expensive. I sold that skeeter for 17 grand when I turned 18, and put down 20g$ cash I saved and bought a new boat for the college circuit.
Bass Cat all the way. First time I’ve seen your channel and instantly subscribed after seeing your major home renovations. I’m in the same boat (no pun intended). My home reno is also draining my account. Looking forward to watching more videos
Good video U took alot of chances I'm sure your bass cat will payoff when u finish your project. Congrats on your new home, you'll enjoy it when you come back. House now looks great. Hard work always pays off.
I bought a 79 ranger v16, it’s almost done and damn near total restore! I’m about 1500 total without electronics. I kind of like the blue slab, it’s a “whatever I want to do to it boat” 🍻
Awesome to find what you want even if there was some hassle in getting a hold of the person. Persistence pays off sometimes. I know what it is like to rebuild a fiberglass bass boat basically from the ground up. I got a boat from my uncle last year that he said come and get it, it is yours, I don't use it anymore. So a couple thousand miles later from Idaho to Kansas to pick up a 'free' boat...why not. Got it home and now spent over a year in restoration but that's due to spending basically 1 day a week until the project was getting closer to being done. Then spent more time on it. I have some before and after pics...what a difference. Anyways finally got it going about 3 weeks ago and have been loving it since. 1987 Laser Bass Boat 16ft. Had to redo the flooring, the stringers for the flooring, all the electrical except for what came off the engine is now all new. Every bit got pulled and replaced with proper wire. Wish I had done videos of this rebuild as well. Didn't know what I was getting myself into until I got there. Would do it again because every time I take this boat out...I love it even more. Enjoy the project!!! Will be watching all the updates.
I bought a skeeter that had been sprayed with an automotive clear coat and it was falling off as well. I used a heated pressure washer and it blasted most of it off.
I used to work for bass cat for awhile did all there wiring on there boats the pantera 2 is an amazing bought and it’s one of there most sought after models. They are very simple to work on if you know anything about basscat.
That blue boat simply depresses me with the amount of work and money it will take to get it “restored” cats are hot right now…that’s where my money would go and that white is nice. GOOD LUCK!
You also I love your channel. Cant wait to see what you do with the boats im sure you can fix both up and sell the tidecraft to fund your whole purchase and upgrades Chris
You have paperwork for both trailers and boats? Alot of cheap bass boat projects in New York around me but Noone has paperwork for both boat and trailer it's always one or the other 🤦🏻🤦🏻 I'm tryna hit the rivers around me for large smallmouth tired of beating the banks
A pressure washer will blast most of that clear coat off no problem I've done a few bass boat restorations you can get a key on ebay with the number on the switch only a few bucks
Tidecraft are junk. Basscat builds a great boat and can probably supply you anything you need parts wise. The GT motor was produced 1984-1991 I think (I had 2) so it’s definitely older than the boat.
love the tidecraft, a lot of people hate them because were cheap back at the day and not really good crafted inside..., but the desigh of the hull is really beautifull and sharp for me, love the color of yours..., she gonna shine like hell with some work...., bass cat are some of the best but yours needs to much work and a 150 is not enough power for the boat and also is too big boat for a single axel trailer...., the 17 tide is easy to feet in any garage, for one day weekly fisherman is the best...., if is me i will leave the 150 in perfect shape working and clean and i will put it in the tidecraft...., is the perfect size motor for the tidecraft and also the white engine will marriage really good the sky blue of the tidecraft boat...., one other great thing of the tide is which came with jack plate...., i will keep the small motor of the tide for one aluminium boat and i will sale for 1000 the cat with the trailer and i will spend all my work and money in the tide...., i will put blue marine carpet in all boat and restore the seats with the same color, they look really nice to me and mach perfectly the color of the boat...., i will look for two nice fish finders from second hand and one trolling motor, like one autopillot with a small remote pedal for the feet with a thing cable and i will put a nice chrome wheels in the trailer, with five point star...., also i will remove heaven and earth for find the original winshields of the tide, the back compartment of the gas deposit and the batery look still pretty clean in the tide..., with some crazy cables arround but it will came good with work...., also the trayler of the tide still looks good and is pretty...., cant wait for more vids about the tide...., if i can i will buy it to you for finish it, love that boat!
Team bass cat for sure and what a deal that boat around here would probably go for probably around $5000 right now the used boat market is nuts at the moment
How the heck can you get so damn cheap boats over there? Here in Sweden the price of the white one would probably be like 5000-7000. Even in that condition. If it's running it would probably pass 10k.
Congratulations on the cat, looks like a great project boat other than the johnson. The tidecraft is one I'd run from personally. Too much work and that 50hp is the wrong brand for my liking and way underpowered. Good luck on the process
I’m on Facebook marketplace looking for bass boats under $2200 and I can’t find anything that is not broken or need to fix it tablet Konomi are you Lebanon
Man where do you live i live in springfield missouri and just my little kingfisher 12ft jon boat was 2500 , boats are cheap where you live thats for sure

Let me know! Are you Team Tidecraft or Team Bass Cat?!
I’m going Team Bass Cat. I can’t believe you sold the LSC schooner…I’d have come down from MI to help you rehab that house!
Team Bass Kat
The tidecraft looks like a beater boat, the work horse. Bass Cat, the Sunday drive. Either way you slice it, it's a hole in the water surrounded by wood that you throw money in. 'Bout Ohh... Another Thousand. Good Luck, Fish On!
There will be a number on the bottom of the ignition you can get a key online that matches the ignition you have.
I know one thing, There's gonna be a lot of fish catches on both when you get them where you want them🎣🎣🎣🎣🤙🏾🤙🏾🙂
Basscat first but do both rebuilds. These kind of videos are awesome to watch
1100 is still insanely low. Try canada where guys are charging 8k for the same quality boats.
In these days of 60 to 100 thousand dollar bass boats these projects are exactly what we need good luck on both boats👍
Can't wait to see the restorations of the boats. Team BassCat all the way. In the near future I will own a Sabre.

Thankyou, We’re all in this together! I’ll post a home update soon so people can see. I remodeled my home 100% from Facebook market place as well
Definitely a Bass Cat fan. Looking forward to seeing you put these boats back on the water. Subbed so I can follow your progress. Good luck!
Good video
U took alot of chances
I'm sure your bass cat will payoff when u finish your project. Congrats on your new home, you'll enjoy it when you come back.
House now looks great.
Hard work always pays off.

Team tide craft only because of the color 😎
🤣 honestly thought there would be a little more on the tide craft team
Team Tidecraft, seems to be the most challenging of the two to repair. If you sell it after completion you could use the funds on your dream boat.
👀👀 sounds like a good idea
I’m super stoked about the bass cat my buddy had the same exact one and it is fast
I'm leaning team basscat. I hope the stringers and transom are as solid as the floor.
So what happened to the blue one. Been waiting to see updates on it.
Subscribed to see this rebuild. I just bought an old Ebtide with a 150 Yamaha in about the same condition. My summer project!!
Good luck on yours!
That bass cat is the same color scheme as my 17 cougar…. Gosh I love those boats what a killer deal.
That blue boat simply depresses me with the amount of work and money it will take to get it “restored” cats are hot right now…that’s where my money would go and that white is nice. GOOD LUCK!
Awesome video!
Part out the tide craft and focus on the cat
Should be a model number inside the control box that tells you what key you need. Can go to a Johnson Evinrude dealer and they’ll get you one for it!
so dude! i just got. a '93 pantera 2 (in black and red) and a johnson 150 faststrike for $1500 as well! i will as be rebuilding mine (with videos)!
Basscat also I saw on utube check inside the driver control may have a number for replacement 🔑 good luck fellow ohioan Chris
I will ! Thankyou!
You also I love your channel. Cant wait to see what you do with the boats im sure you can fix both up and sell the tidecraft to fund your whole purchase and upgrades Chris
Man the 80's and the 90's produced some sexy stuff.
What year is the bass cat?
You have paperwork for both trailers and boats? Alot of cheap bass boat projects in New York around me but Noone has paperwork for both boat and trailer it's always one or the other 🤦🏻🤦🏻 I'm tryna hit the rivers around me for large smallmouth tired of beating the banks

Will try this, Thankyou!!
Bass Cat is also still in business too it’s worth fixing

team bass cat! i hope this project blows up 🤘🏽
I’m on Facebook marketplace looking for bass boats under $2200 and I can’t find anything that is not broken or need to fix it tablet Konomi are you Lebanon
You can’t buy a 14ft John boat w a 9horse around me for 1500
Same here. I lucked out!
Old bass cats look exactly the same as new bass cats. The new ones look like 30 year old boats. Sure wish they would update their look.
Bass cat boats are the best! Everything about a bcb is quality!
I’d say sell the tidecraft and make the bass at immaculate
I'd have paid $1500 just for that Johnson GT150 by itself lol.
Bass Cat! Great video, new sub!
Man where do you live i live in springfield missouri and just my little kingfisher 12ft jon boat was 2500 , boats are cheap where you live thats for sure
I have a 15ft tidecraft myself it's a solid boat for its age.
Does that mean your team tidecraft?
I liked and subscribed just in case it helps you get into a better situation good luck sir
1996 19 foot bass cat Pantera two
I’d take the motor off the bass cat n put it on the e other one n sell it n try to find a Mercury 2 stroke of new four stroke for the Bass Cat
Personally I’d sell the tide craft as is and focus on the Pantera
Basscat. Tidecraft was ok back in the 80's when they were built. But they had hull problems that cost the builder designer alot of money trying to fix them and they went under. Team basscat it's right across the hwy from me and I used to work there many years ago
Go blues 💙
I tried but that basscat boat in Feb he never did reply I have all the screenshots as well.
Ephesians 5:4 in the Bible: nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving
I rather have the basket any day keep the basket and fix it up sell the other one brother you'll be doing yourself a good favor because in baskats is nice boats and it's good and solid too have a blessed day brother and be safe 🙏
The blue boat was a huge mistake, it's not even a bass boat and it's a pos brand/hull.
The Basscat was a good choice but a Champion would have been the best choice.
Team Basscat!👍🏻👍🏻
You used a fish and ski boat for a living you should buy my ranger loaded all new even the proxs 250 with warranty 20 foot ranger 25k
we restored our 84 bass boat I'd bet all the wood is rotten hard truth but still worth it
You stole that Cat… We rebuilt Champs and Cats and upgrade them.
Everything happens for a reason. There is a reason it worked out
Those engines use to much fuel better win some tourneys for gas money lol
Right😂😂
Will that small 50HP even get big blue on plane?
were going to find out haha
I had a Tidecraft from that era. Maybe the worse boat of all time. Awful. I don’t think there is any way to make that one even decent. Dump it, cut your losses and get the Bass Cat fixed up. Good luck.
Bass cat all the way man
Basscat all the way!!!!!!
