I bought a 1992 17’ Astro (pro craft) with a 90hp in excellent condition for $2500. Spent a day cleaning and buffing and $320 for nice new seats (4 of them). Best boat I’ve ever owned. It catches the same fish that my friend catches with his 32k boat lol
Love your video....just got me a used Skeeter....doin a little fix up and ready to put on the water....cant wait for the first bass on mine also.....great video
Nice! I may go the older bass boat route if I get tired of the jon boat. No way I am dropping $70k+ on a new freshwater boat, if I drop that kind of money it will be on an offshore boat.
I have a 1979 ranger 198v with a 150 mercury on it . It looks just about the same as yours . I really like it and its all I need . Its got a hot shoe on it and I added a rear trolling motor . My 150 has about 70 lbs of pressure in all cylinders and it still goes 45 mph . I take my small honda eu2000 generator with me in case of engine trouble . With the 12 volt connection on the generator I can keep the trolling motor going no matte how far away I am from the dock . I also carry a small portable microwave to heat up coffee , run a electric heater heat up soup . run lights if the battery's are dead . I even use it to charge up the battery's . With a older boat I would tell everyone to get a small portable light weight generator . I strap mine in the space in front of the steering wheel and dash area . I went from a 10 foot john boat to the 198v and I was thinking the same thing you were about how far up your are .
Beautiful Lake... Where are you in this video...? (Leave the transome Saver in the truck... lol) Run 1 oz of Seafoam per Gallon in your fuel for carb maintenance
My speedometer doesn’t work either. The humming bird helps for that though. You’ll get used to the speed though. After a couple months you’ll start to wish it could go faster. Be safe out there.
New to your channel......enjoyed the video......already a big fan......what lake and state are you fishing ?...... I live in Louisiana and had predator bass boat that was built in Raceland Louisiana...... buy a friend of mine...... his name is Bob Sanders...... my boat was a different model than the one you have......yours looks like one of the models Bob use to build..... do you know the history of your boat
Yeah I was able to join the rocket Facebook page and learned a little bit..But I'm not sure about this boat still I haven't seen Anyone with the XL 200..What's weird about this boat is it's never even had a dock Rope cleat put on it..I've been very curious about its origins but starting to learn more
Well I am very sure thats a boat that Bob built......he had a small shop in Raceland Louisiana.....he and his son built a boat called a Fantail and sold them as fast as they could make them......Bob was a speed boat racer and a boat designer......he and I used to fish together...... He was a very good Bass fisherman......when he designed the Rocket I got a chance fish and drive the prototype Rocket......it was a big hit in Louisiana......Bob retired from boat building because of health issues.....His Son continued to build Rockets for a time....that was about 15 plus years ago.....I moved away from Southern Louisiana after hurricane Katrina......anyway Bob and his son are Great people
Bob did put dock boat cleats on any of the boats he designed because he had broken so many rods on them on bass boats that he had in the pass.....so he hated them.....he told me that before he built my boat....it was great to see my boat being built......for sure that tells me thats one of Bob's boats
I remember him showing me that boat that you have the prototype he was designing at his shop in Raceland.....thats why I recognized it on your video.....that was about 1992 maybe
I don't know anything about bass boats. there's a decent one near me. wondering if I could strip all the carpet and paint everything and use it for the canals off the intercoastal near me. am I wasting my time n $$? love the fishing platform space.
Hi Bass In Grass I love the Suzuki dt 150 super six and boat. Mostly the Suzuki, I have one too but the regular 150 with only six spark plugs not twelve. Question do run it all year or do winterize during cold months?
I’ve ran it all year this year..I’m still getting a few little quirks smoothed out with the carburetor... so far it’s been a really good engine..Always fires right up
@@BASSNGRASS ok cool do you ever flush it with ear muff style flushing device? I do it anyways despite being only fresh water its good way to test it and see if it works before going to the boat launch.
I'm currently restoring a 1979 glastron 18 foot bass boat it was free came with a Title and a steel tandem axel trailer not looking forward to the tansom
robparkers fishingworld Thanks brother I really appreciate it :)...Yeah I think with a little tender loving care I’ll have her back up to looking really good
I fished out of an 89 Bumble bee king bee for years until I got my triton which is a 97 model. Nothing wrong with an older boat as long as its structurally sound. I absolutely love my Triton but I'll be in a 2020 Caymus by 2028 lol. Btw an angle adjustable lean seat is much more comfortable.

And the nice part is u don't have a Hefty payment u can update things as needed..
Absolutely nothing wrong with old bass boats, I honestly like the older ones more then new ones
Old boats kick ass man. They last a very long time.. we’re in 2021 now, these boats are dinosaurs!
I have an 86 or 87 Ranger 350v same color as this and i even recarpeted it with black. Lol. Its a great boat with my johnson 140.
That music had me glued to the video, nice boat by the way.
Thank you buddy I appreciate you watching
Loved watching this. Can’t wait to get mine running and be out on the water soon
I love old stuff...older cars/boats. I can actually fix them :).
Great video! Man what a vibe that ending was. The POV of just cruzijng back.👌 don’t take that for granted people 🙏🙌
The sea shanty in the background was legendary 🍻
Keep us updated on the work you do to the boat !! Thanks man.
Beautiful scenery!!!!
Love your video....just got me a used Skeeter....doin a little fix up and ready to put on the water....cant wait for the first bass on mine also.....great video
Yeah just takes a little work but you can make them look way better again :)...Thank you for watching my videos
If that first bass is any sign. It's going to be a gorgeous boat when your done. Love the classics.
Thanks buddy I really appreciate it
Late happy birthday! The new old boat still gave you time on the water and a few tight lines.
Love the tune man. Nice boat too
There's no shame in running an old classic. Mines older than me but its clean and will get up and go
I'm rockin a 1994 alumacraft mv superhawk cs. I was 16 yrs old in 94, at my angling prime lol
Well done!! And that was a very successful shakedown flight!!!!
Found myself a 1989 Mirage 20'4" bass boat.... I custom painted it in an 80s pimp van metal flake & patterned out.....
Hell yeah 😂😂.. If it floats it’ll catch fish :)
My guy! I just bought a 88 skeeter sd 80 today with an 80 horse mercury! Gonna do some cleaning and restoring vids! Sweet setup
Hopefully it worked out
Nice! I may go the older bass boat route if I get tired of the jon boat. No way I am dropping $70k+ on a new freshwater boat, if I drop that kind of money it will be on an offshore boat.
Nothing wrong with going with a old bass boat or somewhat older speed boat
I love seeing someone else in a boat the same color and make as mine, though yours is definitely longer!

The new ones are great, I just need to decide if I want to put my kids through college or not!
Ive got a 1985 TD Penny Fish and Ski with a 60 hp mercury and ive caught more bass with it than my 2009 stratos pro v
Cool boat and happy birthday!
Richard Doxtater Thank you buddy I appreciate it
I'm looking at a 97 stratos fs rock solid runs like a beast
I still fish out my old ranger 352, it’s been repowered by something nasty but I love my old ranger
Runs good
I got an 82 aggressor 14ft with a 70hp johnson. Its a lil iffy
My speedometer doesn’t work either. The humming bird helps for that though. You’ll get used to the speed though. After a couple months you’ll start to wish it could go faster. Be safe out there.

All of them do the same thing. I would not want a 500. Dollar payment when my 94 champion is paid for.
Nice new rig! Happy birthday brother 🐟👊🏼
BottomLineBassin Thank you so much for the happy birthday :)
I wanna run a 120 on it but I'm worried it might put my back end to far down I'm gonna do vids when I start the restore 😁

ted lincoln's fishing life Yeah there’s definitely a bunch out there..Just have to definitely be careful when pulling the trigger buddy
BASS & GRASS plus I’m already working on SawGrassBassin’s bass cat right now, and always working my ‘86 sea nymph on the side.
what make and model boat is it?
It's a predator XL 1200
Beautiful lake. And you can have that boat restored and repowered for much less than a new one and save money.
Definitely
Still got this boat?
How big is it?
How big is the boat
Its the fishermen that catch bass..the boat don’t catch fish for you 😂😂
Very cool
What song is that playing at the end of the video? I know it and I can't think of it. Btw thanks for the upload man
EastTNAngler Thank you for the kind comment :)...Honestly I’m gonna have to look it up..I’ll check it out in the morning
Happy birthday!
Finkle and Einhorn Thank you so much buddy
I like you channel.
Thanks buddy just seeing this comment
That seat is not meant to sit on. It is simply a butt rest to prop on.
Or better yet, just take it out and stand like most bass anglers.
its not the boat its the fisherman!!!
Hey for the price you got a good rig there man. I kinda dig the older bass boats like that one.
Also happy birthday bro
robparkers fishingworld Thanks brother I really appreciate it :)...Yeah I think with a little tender loving care I’ll have her back up to looking really good
