Hahaha I see the comments talking about the drain plugs. I wish it was that simple! We brought a bunch of different sizes because we didn't know the size. The correct drain plugs were in place when the leak was happening. The leak ended up being several issues. The livewell hose was cracked and the easy fix was just plugging up the livewell intake. Then the depth finder transducer was not screwed in correctly. The final issue we still deal with today and that's pinhole leaks. This issue plagues many others with starcrafts around the same year.
I fished in the ocean from 13-18 on a 14’ aluminum deep V with a set of oars that I paid 280$ dollars for. Bought it with birthday and Christmas money from a guy down the road. At 15 I was working and bought a 9hp motor for it for another 300$. Fished a hundred days a year with it,”. No fish finder, two rods, an anchor, and some tackle. 30 years from its purchase, it still sits in the rafters of my garage. Today I own a charter with three boats from 20’, 27’ and 37’, with a tuna license, but that 14’ boat still holds all of my greatest fishing memories, including a one time Canadian record for Striped bass.
Last year I bought an '86 Fisher for $800 that sat for two years. Got the motor fixed up and it runs great! This year I had to replace the board supporting the transom since the old one cracked
If size works for you, design works for you, and bones good. Fix it up. Replace any and all wood with light alum. Get a new drain plug or seal the bilge hole etc. Be happy with a solid easy to maintain boat
do you have any of the pinhole leaks? We have been still plagued with the issue and read on hulltruth that others are dealing with the same problem on similar year starcrafts
next video out wednesday. We get it going really good. Still thinking of selling it and the kicker and just getting a new 115 hp mercury 4 stroke. They troll sooo good and makes the kicker obsolete. Its $11k tho...
That is reason why I have one of those fuel hoses with hand pump extra in boat...If it takes water, I can pump it out with that 😅 Honest, its pretty handy, it fits tight holes and it takes good amount water away with every pump.
If the boat is a 2000, it was repowered. Those brown stripe Mercs are early 80's, and definitely full of problems, not anything I would own. I cant believe a mechanic charged you 500 bux, and didn't adress the fuel issues, obviously didn't test it out before returning it.
He fixed the issues soon after this. We ended up flipping both kicker motor and big motor for around $5k. Then we put it towards a new 115 merc. So much better 😂
I sold a lund Tyee 5.3 on a completely rebuilt trailer with a John's 110 all in mint original condition for $1,100 so nope definitely not the cheapest boat on Facebook. That was last year when you bought that one.
A lot of that frustration could have been avoided by running and testing the motors with a cuff; bilge pump in on land, etc. Sat for 14 years you have to figure everything needs attention...
There was no frustration though. Only good times were had. Before launching the boat we had our family friend whose a master merc tech go thru the motors. A few issues remained no fault to him and we fixed it soon after this video.
it would surprise you! We had both motors gone thru for $500 and sold both the big merc and kicker for $5k. So in total we profited $1k and have the boat still to this day. We put the extra money towards a new 2023 115 merc

interesting i was looking at buying a similar model boat what should i look for? just water in the boat?
It's still a good deal! LOL That is what the mechanic said as he cashed the check.

Love seeing your dad on the channel. Keep up with the great video. Enjoy them all.
Peace
There is a plug that was laying in splash area you should have put it in and water wouldn’t get it
Even then run the bilge pump
Ignorance
they were just extra because we didn't know the correct size. The major leak was the livewell intake because the hose was cracked.
Cody I love the videos on the Channel I know it doesn't get lot of view but just keep doing it makes me happy
Last year I bought an '86 Fisher for $800 that sat for two years. Got the motor fixed up and it runs great! This year I had to replace the board supporting the transom since the old one cracked
Drain plug sitting there didn’t give it away? Lol
extra drain plugs haha
Should we sell the boat or fix it up??
Hey code
fix it
I would fix it up
Sell
Fix it
Why did you not have the bilge pump working before you left. By the way, I run 2.
you know you can steer with the main motor (acts like a rudder) while the trolling motor pushes lol
Really…how efficiently?
it looked like you forgot to put the drain plug in...
What was it transom shot
busted water line for the livewell
Love the boat it looks so Awesome now that it’s fixed up 🥰☀️🐟💦

I have a slightly older version of this boat. It’s been a very loyal companion in my adventures for almost 30 years. Still going strong
do you have any of the pinhole leaks? We have been still plagued with the issue and read on hulltruth that others are dealing with the same problem on similar year starcrafts
Not a bad deal but get a new big motor 👍👍 I’m looking myself lol

Love the Vids :-)
thanks willis!
From 10k dream price to 2k realistic in one vid😂
Facebook marketplace just has everything, that’s crazy

I keep one as a backup incase my bilge decides to die on me. Haven’t had to use it yet but it’s worth having
멋지네요
very nice video, boat
Shouldn't you trim up which ever motor is not in use?
Why's the drain plug out? Makes no sense
In for this show 🍿
I like seeing the real Cody Mavrick someone I’ve watched him since I was 8
Awesome find. Owen, gosh your a handsome man 😊
$3k????😮... You cant get that back in scrap....
Didnt need to scrap! Still using it as our island hopper. Tuned up the motors though and sold for $5k
my boss had a derrogitory term for all salmon fishermen lol
Score! Great boat and you all stole it!
Boat looks nice but i dont think the boat mechanic did his job
sometimes small issues aren't caught right away. Brought it back in right after and it was good to go!
Nice brother! Break out another thousand my man. Fix her up and keep.
Wait, So starcraft has been around forever and they make some of the best Aluminum haul boats. Damage to haul is boater fault 100%
If the boat is a 2000, it was repowered. Those brown stripe Mercs are early 80's, and definitely full of problems, not anything I would own.

@@OwenOutdoors ahhhh, there ya go!!! Enjoy that new motor 🙂

lunds a great boat. Def a step above the starcrafts

Trailor by it self about half the price of the whole rig💯👍
With a title?
That boat was repowered if that's a 2000. That's an older motor
Adamın komple tekne aldığı fiyata burada sadece elektronik çapayı alabilmemiz nedir peki ???
Never go out in a boat without a work bilge pump.
yes sir good thing it was going because if not it wouldve been a different story. There was a major leak with the livewell intake hose.
Kicker too heavy
They worried about fuel line and the boat is sinking? whatever?
Yep…major water coming into the boat. I know, let’s leave it in the water and take it back out!
Crazy.
Raising the big motor would have made a huge difference, you were dragging it. goobers!
I got one the same for 1k
3 k of trouble
"my dad" lol buy your own stuff dude
Old mercury motors are junk
You sound like Chrisfix
Amateurs 😆 🤣
cool this is a decnt find
good deals are far and few between no adays!
why are you pumping fuel in the motor while its working.?stay out of the water mate 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
because the fuel line was bad. It can't start when the ball is soft as it doesn't have enough fuel going to it.
StarCraft is made by SmokerCraft
great boats just this year had a few issues with pin hole leaks. haven't been able to completely fix it even after ripping up floor
yeeeee
Ok
Hey code
Nice money pit you bought.
That boat isnt worth more that 3000 that a 30 yaer old mercury but think yall can clean it and get 10 grand come on now
it would surprise you! We had both motors gone thru for $500 and sold both the big merc and kicker for $5k. So in total we profited $1k and have the boat still to this day. We put the extra money towards a new 2023 115 merc
Talk yourself into believing you got a good deal
100% good deal. We sold the 2 motors for $5k. Then put that towards a new 115 merc
🤔🫣
That can't be cheapest we bought boats many times less 500
cheapest wasn't the right word. Best deal more like it. This boat was worth at least $9-10k as it sat but we paid a third of that
That not a $9-$10k boat😂😂😂😂... You've been beat, do you know what you can get with 10k??? That's a $800 boat you paid 3k for
$3k for a $800 boat is crazy
Ignorance
That’s a STEAL at $3k😲😲😲
OUCH
You are the reason boating laws exist…
which law did I break?
