What are your opinions about the 17ft fiberglass boats, for example the Nitro z17 or bass cat margay? Is there a reason your looking 19 and up? Thanks in advance
In our opinion 19ft would be the smallest glass rig we'd go with. However the Margay is probably a good rig (We like Basscat's) but the Nitro probaly isn't (We don't like Nitros)
Ranger z519 bought new in 2019 been very happy with it fish's alot bigger than it's size lots of storage lots added hydraulic jack plate that really really seemed to improve ride been in lots of boats the ride is good for 19 foot l have the V6 225 low to upper sixty s

Great job on your analysis of these boats. I've been researching bass boats for over 2 years. I've gone to multiple bass shows in twin cities over the past 2 years. I'm looking for a competitive tournament bass boat with a reasonable price. This will help me make a decision. Thanks for doing this great video.
@Mekye Barnes there are little things that if your a little handy are no big deal and far worth the savings. For instance glass washer fenders vibrate loose and they dont use stainless hardware. Replacing the hardware yourself when it happens easy fix. It's little details that shouldn't be overlooked for things with these pricetags but by far nothing worth spending 10-30K more for the same type of fiberglass tub with a diff brand name, motor and accessories.
@J Leicht Phoenix makes a nice boat, unfortunately some of their trailers are box frame and will rot out in a few years from the inside out leaving you screwed. Be careful that you upgrade to the channel frame. I like Ranger boats if for nothing else, resale value, looks and a layout design, but agree Phonix would probably be top choice, Basscat....... not so much.
To be honest it has been years since we've seen a charger up close and that older one had some build quality issues. We are eager to see a new model up close.

I have a friend with a 19’ Skeeter and he and I both much prefer fishing from my Nitro Z19. A lot more room to fish and the ride is much better. Not only that his upholstery is already coming apart at the seams. The seats in the Nitro are 100 times better made.

In my opinion if youre wanting a nice bass boat on a budget, dont rush, take your time looking on the used market for a 5-15 yr old boat that has been owned by an old man that took great care of the boat. i got into a 2007 Triton Tr21x with a 225 merc optimax that was in MINT CONDITION, look like it just rolled out of the factory it was so clean. the old man had just died and his wife was selling for a very very very good price, which allowed me to save a ton of money by not buying new. I then took that money I saved and spent on talons, ultrex, 360 and 4 helix units and still was well under the price of a base model 19 footer new. just be patient and look around marketplace, craigslist, BBC etc.

I purchased the 2018 Nitro pro z19 with tandem trailer. Came with helix 9 and 10 helix msi added (1) 10' power pole, 6" atlas jack plate and the Ulterra 112 came in at 52k. Worst purchase ever so far in my 53 years. Had issues with the fiberglass and gel coat. Some of the lids on the deck were impossible to open. The trailer started rusting up by the tongue and White River would not cover it under the Galva shield warranty saying that portion was not under warranty. CrankinBass is 100% spot on! Hahaha
Nothing, I have one. It runs great, everything works. Ive never had an issue and it will run almost 70. Oh, it also has a way bigger front deck than any of the other boats mentioned.
@@michaelwalsh2095 In all honesty Nitro does have their unique problems but if you are loving yours and it's been holding up well then that is great! Keep sendin'er Michael! 👍🏻
These top "boats/ motors" videos are fantastic! What about a top used bass boats under $15k? There are a lot of boats out there in that range that would make owning a bass boat possible for first timers.
Thanks for the great content, keep it coming!
I purchased an 02 chanpion 188 sc with a 200 Yamaha couple months ago for 14.5K. It was cherry. Yes I am happy. Tandem trailer. Put 2.5K in electronics and I am good to go.
What about an 86’ ebbtide dyna trak 179??? Worth looking into for 5k?
Got in a new 2017 Z21 Pro package at the end of that year for under 60K. 240 hours on the old 2 stroke pro xs now, many on Champlain and St Lawrence River, no complaints. Made 12K out of it so far to boot in regionals 😳
Awesome! Keep it up!
Whats your PERSONAL best choice for the money? And would I be better off buying one used a year or 2 oldz?
If we had to pick one from this video we'd pick the Pantera. If we were in the market to spend 40k we'd pick up a 20 year old Champion and re power it with a Suzuki and new electronics.
@@TeamMarineService You forgot to mention trailer. Champions tubular frame trailers are a rotting piece of chunk! Get ready to fork out some more $$$$ a trailer.
You said Skeeter Strada, I just finished a cap-off restore on a 1987 Skeeter Strada F120. 1987 115HP Mariner (tower of power). Extended the front deck, it now has as much storage as most 20' boats. Added a jackplate, and a minnkota maxxumpro 101#.
Wow that's awesome!
@@TeamMarineService Thank you! One of your champ videos inspired me. I cut out the splashwell, put a solid piece of wood in, similar to what you did.
How are the 1999 Sprint 207 tournaments any good
Rocking a 18'6" Crestliner, 115 merc, single stick and great electronics. $18k, happy :)
What are your thoughts about the 1975 StarCraft Bill Dance Pro 18 OB ? Would you please review the 1975 StarCraft Bill Dance Pro 18 OB? Thank you
So do you only do bass boats ? I have a 16 ' classic glastron right now it has a 70 hp evinroude. 2 stroke. As I live in California and I am seeking the writing on the wall 2 strokes are going out . My boat is scheduled to have a 115 hp . I want to upgrade to a 4 stroke . But I don't have 10 , for a motor. I am wondering if you have extream budget/ used 4 stroke options.
I'm looking at a used mercury 200, 2000 model, what should the competition be, and what would be a fair price.
I bought the 2021 Z19 Pro with a lot of the extras already on it. The boat has been great. The tandem axle trailer was trash. I’ve lost so much fishing time due to this trailer. Finally had to have both axles replaced (fortunately under warranty). Hopefully now I can take the great bass boat ti the lake when I want without worrying if my wheels are coming off.
2018 crestliner vct with mercury 115pro xs 4 blade x7 prop. Motor guide trolling motor for 28000 will run mid 50s
Another brilliant video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Robert! 👍🏻
Ranger z519 bought new in 2019 been very happy with it fish's alot bigger than it's size lots of storage lots added hydraulic jack plate that really really seemed to improve ride been in lots of boats the ride is good for 19 foot l have the V6 225 low to upper sixty s
I still fish tournaments out of a 1990 nitro 2000dc with a 200 evinrude XP that somehow still pushes it 70 mph and hasn’t blown up. Gave $1700 for that boat years back lol looks like hell Ol son
Haha awesome! Ain't nothing wrong with that if it's still getting the job done....someone's still gotta smell of 2 stroke exhaust in these 4 stroke days!
Would like to know your thoughts on the older 1998-2001 Xpress 19 footers with the yamaha v max 150
My buddy got his z19 and loaded his and its 60 out the door. But he said he's had to have it in the shop left and right and it's always little annoying crap. 🙄
Great job on your analysis of these boats. I've been researching bass boats for over 2 years. I've gone to multiple bass shows in twin cities over the past 2 years. I'm looking for a competitive tournament bass boat with a reasonable price. This will help me make a decision. Thanks for doing this great video.
Pro tip: If you have 40k to spend on a bass boat and are considering a new Nitro, slap yourself and save for another couple years and buy the Basscat!
We completely agree with that!
@J Leicht I think Triton has something to say about that.
@Mekye Barnes you get what you pay for... better be 08 or older after research. I sunk a 2018 z20 and my buddy sunk his z16 3 years ago
Awesome video. What are your opinions on Charger bass boats? Are they built pretty good or are they built similar to the Nitro bass boats? Thanks.
To be honest it has been years since we've seen a charger up close and that older one had some build quality issues. We are eager to see a new model up close.
Been fishing an alumacraft lunker 2 for 4 years now. Looking to upgrade to a new aluminum boat and I keep coming back the vexus
Our favorite tin rig is the Gator Trax Strike Series hands down
What's about the Vexus AVX serie
We have a video on the AVX
@@TeamMarineService I know, it is just that in my opinion, these boats are way better than the same size at Bass Pro.
For the same rig(on the low price one), price are similar, but Vexus will not have corner cut like on Bass Pro boat
I brought my Bass Cat a 19.6 Pantera 2 classic with two 9in graphs, 200hp mercury, 80lbs minn Kota fortrex, night lights, tandem trailer with back up lights, and other upgrades for 45.
Was that an SP package?
Just joined your site awesome what is your honest opinion of sea deck for a bass boat instead of carpet on a 21 foot gambler 1998
How about a rundown of bass boats 17-21' , the positives & negatives of each size?
AT 8:05 YOU SURE HAVE THOSE MERCURY SOUND EFFECTS DOWN. I CANT HELP BUT LMAO!!!!!!
Hahaha We all have hidden talents
Same thing with aluminum bass boats? With the 250s
Good Idea!
2020 ranger z520L merc pro xs 250 completely loaded for about 78000. Granted that was on clearance but hey! Saving money never hurts lol
We agree! 👍🏻
Old video but just stumbled across it. I have 51500 invested in my 2021 Z19 pro, without a hydraulic plate or poles. I have a Helix 8 up front and Helix 8 and 10 all mega units and an 80 lb ultrex that moves the boat more than well enough. For the money you really can't go wrong on these newer Nitros.
The 19 PHX comes with a 225. The Phoenix 819 pro is the 19fter with a 200 that runs around 45k. Best 19fter in the business for the money.
Yes 👍
This is a big miss on his part. . 819 all the way.
Due to not being able to get any clear pricing from Phoenix on their website (which is what we went off of) we were able to sample a greater amount of 19 phx models with 200's for more comparable prices then 819's. You're correct that the 819 is a solid option with great value! 👍🏻
819 is a great option as well! 👍🏻
I have a friend with a 19’ Skeeter and he and I both much prefer fishing from my Nitro Z19. A lot more room to fish and the ride is much better. Not only that his upholstery is already coming apart at the seams. The seats in the Nitro are 100 times better made.
What would you suggest for a guy that just wants to take his son fishing on the weekends?
I’m interested to know what you like about Tritons and what model and why?
We are not big fans of Tritons at all and the why is because we have never cared for their design and layout. Also we feel like their quality isn't up to par with some of the other brands. Just our opinion
@@TeamMarineService you just said you liked triton in the vid😂
Would love to see a top 5 20' "budget" tourney ready bass boat
2018 Z19 paid $34,900. Then out of pocket Added 2-12” Hds Lowrance units, 1-10” Garmin Livescope, 2-8’ Power Pole Blades.
Also had boat wrapped. I’m in still under 45k.
Been a great rig 2 seasons in and absolutely zero issues. Also paid off!!!!
A paid off boat is the best kinda boat, no matter what brand it is! You're doing it right Mark! That's a good price too!
I have my 2020 nitro z19 pro. 2 10ft talons, ultrex 80, manual jackplate, 2 helix 8's. $52500 out the door. And yes, it came with a tandem axle trailer
Bingo! Great deal Bradley!
I'm a all American construction worker and my budget is 10k. I bought a 2000 Triton 186 with a 150 merc for 4000 and I'm putting 4000 in it no power poles no hydraulic plate. And I can still go snack around the rich kids running 100k boats. Oh and take the fam 4 fun
Bought a garage kept 1994 ranger 354v this year and started fishing tournaments. For what i spend in gas for that johnson 150 i could afford a new 20 foot boat lol for my first bass boat though im happier than a tornado in a trailer park!
Haha that's great Adam! We all gotta start somewhere and we are glad that you're happy in it! 👍🏻
So I need to buy the Triton and pull the motorguide tour pro off of my tracker and my 10" birds and have them put on it. I got a 2008 tracker pro team 190tx used for $5000. The motor only had 108hrs on it. But it's time for an upgrade new or used.
Sold my champion when in the military.
Went through a D now kids are older I bought a new 2020
175 TE tracker with 75 merc
Put power pole, Garmin 9’ touch screen’s front and back.
And took the 70 Maxim off and put a 80 Ultrex
On.
My son and I are in a few clubs and tournament fish every mo out of it.
With that being said I would love to upgrade to a 20 ft 225hp Old school Gambler or Ranger.
How about the most reliable? Don’t know much about bass boats so please help me with info.
Agree with the nitro, i was originally trying to costume built the nitro z19 3years ago but was told i can't have the SHO motor, took a different route to costume the 2018 rangerz518c with 200 sho..
End up paying 59500 out the door
yeah I have a 2020 Nitro Z19 with Ghost and two Lowrance Elite 9 Ti and minn kota raptors, and hydraulic jackplate for under 50k.
Phoenix 819 and the falcon 195 are top choices for the working man budget.
Both are solid choices Joe! 👍🏻
My idea of a budget bass boat is the 18ft aluminum with a 90hp to 115hp because you can find them for around 30k to 35k
If u where to buy a 19' w/200 for your go to boat what 2 or 3 would u suggest!!!
Well from this list we'd chose the Basscat, but for the 40K price tag we'd repower a 20 year old Champion with a 250 SS and new electronics!
You are spot on buddy! We just did a video where we went on BBC and found some great used deals....They are out there ya just have to be actively looking.
I’m Japanese living in Philippines and attempting to import bass boats from US personally.
This is quite helpful information. Thank you for sharing this!
You're welcome buddy! 👍🏻
Check with Charger boats. They have been heavily involved with shipping boats "across the pond" to Japan and I'm sure elsewhere in the world.
@@galada52 Thank you for your kind advise.
I’ll definitely check with Charger.
Yep, do what Joe said! 👍🏻
Now that I think of it you can probably reach out to Charger Japan and they can do the leg work of getting the boat to Japan and then off to you. They may already have one there. Chargerboatsjapan.com
I am on my 2nd Bass Cat PII. as the man says on any of these boats you can get them into the 60's, I have a 2020, and its Bad Ass, but yes it was 60K!. If your in the Market for a 19 footer, look at the Bass cat PII special Package. Another great Video guys!
Great advice Steve! Thanks
dude!love your candor and honesty!..im looking at these class of boats now.to me,its looking like a bbc pantera classic!i would rather buy once and cry once!you guys must be up in wisco somewhere?..subbed!
Just got home this week with a 14 legend alpha 199 good shape 116 hrs on merc 30k out the door and a 3 year after market warranty. The boat is quick handles very well turns and ruff water hole shot like a boat Should. But at 68 to 69 chime walk is so bad i cant drive through it all you can do to not get thrown out bc this is a less sold boat and a very rare problem with this boat i need help idk if its prop load or engine height im at 3.25 with a tempest plus 25p at 5600. Like i said i need help!!! Part of buying a less popular boat. But like the boat better than white river junk and ikn legend was bout out aswell
Well we could probably help ya out via email! 👍🏻

The chine is something that you get in all performance boats until you learn how to drive them. Things like balance and placement of gear makes a difference. Find a local that knows performance boats to help you out. Chine is not bad.
@@johnwolff1043 been doing some testing walk isn't as bad but taking alot longer to get to speed
Can you do an older swift bass boat review
I like nitros layout alot more than most of the listed boats. They are also a very smooth and fast riding boat. You honestly can't beat them for the price.
They are a bargain value, there is no denying that and if you like the layout then that is awesome too! 👍🏻 Do you have one?
@@TeamMarineService I have a tracker 195. I have friends that have a z19 and z21. Both love them. They fish really good. My next boat.
Nitros still have wood in them … for a little more you can go with the trx18 triton all glass with a 200 merc on it
@@anthonyiadarola1201where do they use wood?
I'm in the market looking for a new boat for 2021 season. This video was great start for me thanks. What are your thoughts on the Vexus Boats ?
Vexus makes quality boats! We haven't seen many up close but the ones we've seen have been quality.
If I could get a new bass boat that was aluminum, it definitely would be the Vexus 1980 or 2020. Their fiberglass are way to expensive! $80000plus.
2020 ranger z518 with the 200 mercury for 43k is really number one it’s almost 19 foot at 18 feet 10 inches.
If only it was a couple inches longer...(that's what she said) 🤣
first time viewer , you were biting your tongue alot . so exact dollars not being a issue. what boat would you suggest a newby look at just by what you get for that dollar ? ive been looking hard at xpress boats. not sure what direction to zero in on .

Just curious of why you aren’t a fan of Triton? Is it only the new Triton or even the older Triton’s? I have an 05 tr196 with a 200 Merc that is a solid boat. I am not a big fan of the newer model Triton but love the way the new Blazer and Falcon boats look.
It's just our personal opinions mainly due to build quality and design. As far as Blazer goes we're diggin what they're doing! 👍🏻
@@TeamMarineService I understand totally. I enjoy the videos. Have a great weekend.

Well, if yall wouldve looked at the Nitro website, the Pro (Currently in 2022) comes with 2 HDS Live 9s and a Lowrance Ghost 24v for $50,395 before tax. Hell of a value, and well worth the extra $
Bought the Pantera 2 a 2022 model with the SP package for 54k. It runs off and leaves the other competitors with 250s on them.
The 19PHX comes with a 225, HDS 12 Live, HDS 9 Live and a fortrex, Phoenix makes the 819 and 919 which will get you a lower price with slightly less points.
We couldn't find exact pricing on the Phoenix website so we searched both models on the used market and found more consistant pricing on 19 phx models with the optioned 200 then the other models. However we agree those other models are great fits too for this video
@@TeamMarineService I am a Phoenix dealer. I figured I help add some information.
@@TeamMarineService personally I never order any 919 or 19PhX with a 200 due to it defeating the purpose of the upgraded models.
Can you do budget aluminum bass boats?
Great video
Thanks Ryan!
I say go with number #5 and stay away from the #1 in my experience. Now I'm sporting the Phoenix 721 pro xp what a sweet boat no issues at all.
Man y'all are rich, I gave 5k for 94, 17 ft Nitro with a 90hp 2 stroke and I love it, gets the job done.
For the price, I think I would step down to the caymas 18ss with a 150. Low 40’s.
Now how the hell is the nitro 60 at bass pro
you know idc what anyone says, my little vexus AVX1880 with the 115 and dual helix 10s, ipilot , dual consoles, sea deck flooring. Aluminum trailer, pre Covid I paid 34k$ out the door, has more options than two of my friends who spent 70-80k$ on a ranger/ phoenix, and don’t have half the options . Even down to the cup holders up front. never had an issue
That's a steal!! Good buy!
The skeeter zx200 comes Standard with a ultrex and one sportsman pole on the site.
That Skeeter is a great value!
