Slow living isn’t a trend for me. It's a lifestyle I have embraced for years; I learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of the everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple.” I grew up on a farm, which furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.
We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me, and I can’t imagine it any other way.

I really loved the comment you shared. Another person I follow said something along the lines of "make the home you have your dream home". That doesn't necessarily mean a big renovation, it just means to make the best use of the home we have at the moment. I've always been a nesting person. Even when we travel I have to unpack and put my luggage away. Perfection is so often heralded as this far off, unatainable goal...but really...life is made up of perfect moments if we choose to see them. One of the things that you have brought me back to is that. So thank you. That is a precious gift. Merry Christmas!

I can remember when we use to get a bag at Christmas at church with a apple, orange, nuts, and candy. Those are precious memories

Hi Abby, The first time I found your videos, about 5 or so yrs back, your and your daughter had gone into the woods and gathered greens to make a lovely wreath.

I live in a double wide mobile home in New Hampshire. We relocated from a townhouse in Colorado. I never thought of my new home as a cottage but after watching you I do. Love everything you do. ❤❤
So cozy, warm and welcoming❤. I’m a winter girl too, find such peace, comfort and beauty in the fresh fallen ❄️ snow. I love surrounding myself from treasured family heirlooms, a thrifter too and love just finding comfort at home🤎. I have the same jar full of cookie cutters that I’ve used for years with my kids and grandkids as well as a jar full of old biscuit cutters. I found my jars years ago at a yard sale for $1 each!
Yes, finding comfort at home is a must, and winter is my rest time... I love it. That was a fabulous deal on those jars!
I just found your channel. It is amazing. It reminds me of my mother's house. Christmas was so cozy, fun and with lots of vintage decorative bits and pieces that my mum collected over the years. When I finally moved out of her nest, I still did Christmas exactly like it was at home. And since then I celebrate Christmas the same way. And plus I have also collected lots of vintage decorations from thrift stores and charity shops. I love your channel as it brings back memories of my childhood, teenager years and also my early adult years. My mum and dad are no longer around, but I celebrate mum's birthday on Christmas Eve. She was lucky to have been born on 24th December. Every year Christmas Eve is an emotional moment but with my daughter around me, things are fun too. Thank you for sharing yours.

Thrift stores and mercantiles have such unique items.
Linens, handmade knitted pieces, service ware, vintage decor.
Many thrift stores in my area of Northern Ca announce the date their holiday items will be put on display.
I haven’t purchased mass produced holiday decor in years.
I cherish all my unique finds.

I am trying to get folks to see that most of our Christmas symbols are really just winter symbols 🙂Keeping a green tree up through winter, with fairy lights, is a great way to get through gloomy days :-) I also love your "thrift store" approach to decorating and to having nice/pretty/useful household items 🙂

Ok … are you ready …. Go grab that cuppa … I absolutely love you! You are the “realest” (and I know you’re not judging me for not knowing how to spell that word) person on UA-cam! I watch a lot of channels in fact I just binged these home tours. I’m going to do one for the first time for my Facebook customers for my antique business. I’m really nervous about it after I watched those. We live in the country have dogs that chewed holes in my walls we’ve only patched not painted over. What you did here today is exactly what I want to see it’s what I wanna do for my customers. Not only inspired me but you’ve given me the courage to just do it. I’m a master procrastinator but with an icy snow day today and tomorrow and after watching you give all these really nice tips like you’re my best friend I’m going to get at it. Oh and your daughter did an amazing job on that board! Maybe she should start a catering business. OK keep up with the original interesting and kind content!

Oh My goodness my sweet friend. Thank you once again for inviting us into your warm and delightfully cozy home. I feel as if I’ve been invited into your kitchen and then around your table. Your charcuterie board looks absolutely delicious. I always look so forward to whenever I see a post pop up from you. My home isn’t bustling with activity as it used to when my children were home. Now I have my youngest grandchildren who come and occasionally stay over for the weekend and they always want me to make the same spaghetti dinner (with my homemade sauce)and then for breakfast, the same scrambled egg with cheese and ham slices. We are kindred spirits for sure.
I love displaying vintage bulbs in bowls, and lots of fruit on the counter.
I recently found some mandarin oranges at Trader Joe’s with the stems and leaves on them.
I put them on a cake plate and placed a candle in the middle.
Even now, everyone gets a large naval orange in their stockings on Christmas morning. A tradition I carry on.
I love cranberries and popcorn strung on the tree, and vintage stockings.

You and I have very similar decor taste! Your kitchen looks so cozy and I love the plate rail cabinet. I too have vintage ornaments including a couple of bottle brush wreaths that belonged to my grandmother that I love to use every year along with her old cookie cutters that I display in a bowl. But I like your idea of putting them in a glass canister. I have the red plastic, the aluminum, and even the copper ones!

So homely.... recently I started buy dishes who are not matching bit each one unique and it's funny to see people who have some fun to say "oh I have this picture and you ? " it's like a curiosity tablescape of course I try have some harmony in colors and texture but it's so fun and easy too if something is broken... but your holy dishes are beautiful as well

Love the videos! You’re the big sister I always wanted. Love your thrift finds. I recently found a kitschy vintage Christmas group on Facebook and realized how much I love all of that stuff. I love the shiny brites, holt Howard fogurines, mercury glass tree toppers, tinsel trees, etc. I finally get to go to our local thrift store tomorrow and can’t wait to see if I find any goodies. One of these days I’ll make it up to new beginnings! It’s 2 hours from us.
