  • Royal Enfield unleashed the much improved 2024 Himalayan 450 for test ride and review. We just got back from 250 miles of kicking the tires and hitting the ice on Royal Enfield's new Himalayan, in the Himalayan mountains near Manali, India. Not knowing what to expect, we were impressed by the stats and performance of this all-new bike. It's a major upgrade but is it enough in a growing segment? What does the new Himalayan offer?

    40hp is enough for most us in reality, people are obsessed with power - i love my 500 exc but i cannot harness 65hp very often and i can ride that horse, it makes me laugh when i see folk on 100hp behemoth who can't get over a 8 inch log without sweating and initiating helmet and 4 layers of armour removal and so on - adjustable suspension however, that matters to me, a lot , i wish they had offered that because i love the idea of the bike and i think it looks utterly amazing as a 2nd bike - eh oh, i am sure this bike will sell very well and please many people across the land mass

      40 bhp is good enough for Europe and Asia. Can't say much for the American audience

      @@swayam759 The amount of power someone needs is mostly a question of mentality. Mentality = Reality! :)

    RE has this unique view in developing bikes with riders in mind (not only profit)
    They keep it real
    This excites me much more then the launch of a new BIG GS

      I'm just happy there's more bikes out there for everyone. The 450 size has been largely neglected until now, but i think 24 and 25 may see the rise of the 450s! Been waiting over two decades for this and only feel the momentum will continue. Thank you and everyone here for sharing your thoughts on this! 🍻

      They have Rally accessories for this bike! Most people didn't mention them, but they are available. It includes stuf flioke a one piece seat and different rear plastics. I'm pretty sure RE will run this bike in Dakar in the next 2-3 years. :)

      @@ADVMoto , sadly they are not certified in India yet and are most likely to be sold in the European market first with the cross spoke tubeless wheels!

    Thanks for explaining how it differs from the previous model regarding engine performance ..👍

      A couple years ago I spoke with the Himalayan project head . He asked me about what an idea engine would be in this category and what resulted in the new 450 far exceeded my expectations. I was thinking there would be some improvements to the engine, but didn't think they'd come out with a fully modern, 100% new platform. Blew me away when I saw it and even more when we finally got a chance to ride it.

    If you are in US the Kove 450 is also a great bike in this class if you are a bit more serious/experienced but it is a bit more expensive at 9K. But since my country only has the Himalayan, it's the Himalayan for me.

    • @ADVMoto
      @ADVMoto  8 місяців тому +4

      Both really cool bikes but for different riding. Rally style bikes like the Kove may be lighter and perform better off road for skilled riders, but are also much taller and have other limitations like luggage attachment options. As long as someone gets the bike that fits their needs, we say go for it!

    Awesome it’s about time they up the CC’S on that bike. Long overdue for a revamp. Looking for my first ADV bike definitely have to take a hard look at this one since they up the CC’S now. Hopefully the price will not be crazy.

    • @ADVMoto
      @ADVMoto  8 місяців тому +6

      For sure! They didn't just up the cc's though, also the compression a whole bunch! In addition to downdraft injection and 6 speed gear box, it really is an all-new bike.

      Also, you are right that the Himalayan has come from a very clear vision and the version2 is a massive upgrade to achieve that goal.
      There are many more upcoming RE bikes and I hope RE works with passionate motorcycle experts/enthusiasts like you to bring us the dope on the new rides.

    Great review and it seems Harris and RE did an amazing job on this bike! I think this may be the one to go to when I downsize from my V Strom 650XT. Less weight, enough power, and much better off road. Thanks!

      Oh man! Take it for a ride when you can. For me, the 450-600 range is a sweet spot for weight, efficiency and versatility. The new 450 Himmy is going to be one of the first to market offering an all new, unique design with good specs and performance at a very friendly price for all kinds of riders.

    Soooo beautiful bike!!!! Do you think it is beginner friendly? Any bad vibrations or heat from the engine? Thanx

    • @ADVMoto
      @ADVMoto  8 місяців тому +2

      We agree! It is definitely beginner friendly. No, the vibrations are wonderfully balanced and, IIRC, the footpegs are dampened at the frame. There was no noticeable heat from the engine, but we were riding in fairly cool temps.

    Thank you great video, love the look of the black one with the yellow in it. Hopping they will be bringing them to Prince Edward Island, Canada, I want to get one and put my GIVI Trekker 33/46 hard bags on it. Had the KTM 390 Adventure great bike but the service was not the greatest, and a few to many problems. Now riding the Honda CB 500X great bike but not much character to it, plus all I could get is the red one, not my pick of colour. Love the look of the Black Himalayan 450 with that bit of yellow.

    • @ADVMoto
      @ADVMoto  8 місяців тому +3

      It's kind of like a muffling cat in one. You're probably right in that it adds weight, but at least it's very low on the bike. I had a Versys 650 which had an underbelly exhaust that was a boat anchor. We swapped it out for a carbon fibre unit from Yoshimura. It's took about 5 pounds off the bike BUT it also made it noticeably more top heavy. I expect it would do the same here. The 411 carries its weight down low which makes it stable and friendly to ride for many.
