Finally a review where they don't go on and on about the stupid specifications that we all already know. By far the best practical review out yet good job!
Don't worry about your English - it's perfectly fine. I follow your content bcos I trust in your bike review professionalism not youtuber personality as in many other channels, bro
New subscriber here from Portugal, top review 👍 it changes from the others with all the specs and stuff. Very practical and covered almost everything needed to get an idea of the beautiful new Himalayan 👏.
The problem you encountered regarding torque inadequacy at low/close to idle rpms cd well be fixed by a simple electronic correction of raising the idling rpm to a higher datum by the press of a button👍😁
It was not really a problem, more a change of the engine character. It works well from 2000 rpm onwards, but it's not as thumpy as the old long-stroke 411 engine, which some poeple are going to miss. I didn't really mind and liked the engine. Greetings, Gregor
Thank you for a very informative review of the RE Himalayan. Don't worry, your English is fine, easy to follow and understand what you were talking about, even if you didn't always remember the exact word.
Hi and thanks for a great review. My main concern for this new bike is how reliable the all new water cooled engine will be. It seems all RE engines to date are air cooled. I have not seen anything on what RE may have based this engine on and how they arrived at this finished product. Do you or anyone out their foresee any teething issues regarding this new engine. Aside from that it looks pretty good to me…
Highly recommend watching the video with the design team lead of the engine. Very interesting video and insightful, like how they went with a semi dry sump so they could lower the crank to lower the centre of gravity. Also no one mentions the air box being moved up to the front so the bottom of the fuel tank could move under the seat also to lower the centre of gravity.
They done a good job on the new bike it’s still strong and practical and reliable people look for that not everybody rides fast I think for most it’s reliability we look for keep it simple no electronics
Great first hand review. Your English is amazing, I say that as a Semi fluent English man in Spain. Your review really confirms my thoughts. The original was so unique. The new Himalayan is a VSTROM 250 copy. They only had to make a long stroke air cooled single at 500cc to retain the unique quality of the original. Ok it might have only been 38bhp or so but with a 6th gear it works have been enough. It’s a totally different bike to the original. That’s why on my channel I won’t be buying the new Himalayan. Ride safe and I have subscribed
There is nothing in common between the V Storm 250 and this bike You cant make an air cooled long stroke that passes emissions these days - air cooled is dead
Mmm. Vstrom 250 copy? I don’t see it. The new Himalayan has a 21 inch front, more suspension travel, can do proper off road (Suzuki calls their bike a “crossover”) it has more grunt, and more versatility. If it’s about looks, the two look nothing alike - Vstroms are angular these days, (I have a 1050 XT) whereas the Himalayan has more curves, more organic look. Face it. Bikes need to progress. Look at the 1300GS. BMW has done a major revamp, engine as a stressed member, where BMW has only maintained the very basic profile, and people are losing their shit, lol. But it’s clearly a major evolution, like the Himalayan. On every metric the new Himalayan pastes the old one. And that’s a good thing. Sorry, totally disagree with you.
Thank you Gregor! In the US, the Austrians call it "Bobis" (or Arnie) Please, how tall are you Gregor? I decided that the Himi 2 will be my next bike. Always afraid that my 1,90m (6.3) and around 100kg look a bit massive on the bike. Maybe the rally seat will help? What do you think Gregor? Danke!
I am 1,85 m tall but a skinny fellow with only about 75 kg. For your size I would 100% recommend the Rally seat and probably you'll also have to adjust your handlebar a bit. If the suspension ist still gonna perform as well for you as for me, that is really hard to say without trying. But most of the qualities of the new Himalayan should work for you too. I hope that helps you a bit. Greetings from Bobi-land, McGregor
Danke Gregor! Unfortunately i ordered the Voge DS900X now (just because there were to many small problems with the bike after all reviews. Also my configuration for the Himi ended with about nearly 9700 Euro.
Beautiful bike!!! Do you think it is a beginner friendly as a first bike!? I am 1,82cm high with 100kg weight looking passing from maxi scooters to proper motorcycles. Thanx and regards from far away Serbia 🇷🇸✌️
Yes, regarding tech in the new Himalayan. Royal Enfield will continued to be pressured in the tech department due to CF Moto as they really pack their bikes with tech at modest price points.
5750 GBP starting price for UK. Seems like RE is keeping the increase in price to approx. same dollar value in all markets. 55000 INR increase in India, roughly 520 GBP
@@astonmartyr That's great I would assume it could be purchased as an accessory, really like this bike Looking to downsize a bit as I am getting older.
Windscreens are a VERY personal thing, I’ve discovered. There are so many aspects which can make them effective, or not. You need to ride it first to see if it’s enough. Sometimes, smaller screens are more effective. I have an adjustable screen on my Vstrom 1050Xt, it’s more effective in the lower position then the higher one. I also had a smaller screen on my DR, and it worked perfect. But I’m 5ft 9, with a short torso. Someone bigger, or smaller than me, on my bikes might have a TOTALLY different experience.
@@martyn_g Thanks so much I appreciate your comment - I'm looking to downsize form my R1150RT guess I'm spoiled with the full screen ... I really like this RE - would be able to get off the pavement sometimes...
They won't be doing that. The 650 twin is just too heavy and underpowered for off-road application. This new Himalayan seems to have pretty good power. Why need the 650cc?
@@gojosatorou-w9l There will be a 650 scrambler. I would say RE would not come up with a new Himmie after this except for tweaking upgrades based on user feedbacks. The 450 cc is a sweet spot for them to qualify for Dakkar rally as a stock bike.
not the most beautiful bike, but for me I think RE have created a very useful and enjoyable machine, with nice features and characteristics for adventure and travelling. For me it seems Royal Enfield really listened to their customers and improved those key features they were asking! As you said, if the prize is reasonable, this bike should be a success!
Great review! I have one question (ok two) that no one seems to be able to or want to answer. Regarding the electronic fuel injection can you retrieve trouble codes and live data through the cluster as on Japanese bikes? If not is there a specific scan tool available for Royal Enfields? I really think this could be my next bike but if I can not fix it myself that would be a deal breaker.
I have a 2021 Himalayan. Total junk. Battery can't hold a charge (phantom draw)...bad electrical problem no one can solve. Horrible fit and finish. Dealership had it for months. It's been so disappointing that I'm selling it with only 700-miles on it. Don't fool yourself into believing you can get a quality ride for one third what all other equivalent bikes cost.

40hp is plenty, even on a heavy bike like this - how it is delivered matters of course - this machine will make many people very happy
Very practical review, just what’s needed without getting overly technical
Brilliant in depth review, best on this bike to date. Congratulations.

You switch to the Eco mode to have comparable power and torque figures to old Himalayan. That's the trick.
The only aspect where it’s gone backwards is the air filter position, which is now under the tank, which is a bit silly, lol

Do you know if it is bucket and shims for the valve adjustment or screw and lock nut ?
I read somewhere it shims under buckets..
Accent no problem, Ahnold!
Seems to me the tiny wind screen is nothing more then a deflector for the digital gauge...
There is a taller windscreen in the rally edition.
