Correction: the weight stated in the video is wrong, as the German official CFMoto site got it wrong 😂. It is 175kg dry, so similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The brakes are also not directly from Brembo as it turns out but instead from their spanish sub brand J.Juan. Sorry about that, annoys me to no end that I got that wrong.

True enough, but what I really want in an ADV bike is a really low 1st, low 2nd, lowish 3rd, normal 4th, slightly overdrive 5th and tall 6th. This arrangement only works with a torqy motor. Like this one!

  • @MalHanson
    @MalHanson 3 місяці тому +50

I've had mine in Australia for a few weeks, and have done 1,200kms. Agree regarding the gearing being too short. I fitted a 15-tooth front sprocket (up 1 tooth), and that makes cruising at 110kph (max legal speed in Oz) much more comfortable, dropping by about 500rpm compared to standard, and making the speedo much more accurate. First gear becomes more usable, even off road, as the motor has a very good bottom end and mid range. I think a 16-tooth sprocket would fit if you were going to be doing a lot of freeway/autobahn riding.
For my height (170cm) it's very comfortable on the highway with the screen raised. I can easily reach the ground, unlike on the bigger adv bikes - I'd love a T7, but I just don't fit!
Other cons - from the factory the suspension is way too hard, but is easily softened. The fueling isn't perfect, being a little bit on/off at low speed - hopefully that will be fixed via software update. Yes, cruise control would be very nice, but it's a cable throttle rather than ride-by-wire, so that would require significant hardware update.

The short gear box is a miss, I already have installed 15t front sprocket. That helps some. The off idle fueling is not good (thx euro whatever). Yes skid plate is paper thin. The exhaust is on a loud side, I guess I am old. If you care for your bike, 10k oil changes is bull shitit. Other than that, for the price or with that low price, it's an awesome side roads adv bike.

120kmph is fine, 130 is uncomfortable, 140 is red line. Should be fine in the Netherlands imo. You can change the revs with different sprocket sizes. But fitting a different sprocket also makes first gear longer and accelaration slower.

Nowadays China for example has less issues with the commercial planes then Boeing, same with BYD cars or Huawei phones..the countrie isn't what it was 20 years ago! Alot of engineers that went to europe and the US,UK to study and have work eperiences are also returning to China since the future in China is much brighter and safer then that of the West. Many Western designers and engineers are going to China aswell,to build a business and progress. The saftey and quality laws in China are rapidly changing with its innovation in lead.

I live near a major city with a KTM main dealer who doesn’t stock CF Moto so much for the partnership. The nearest dealer stocking these is about 100 miles from me which makes service and warranty trips unrealistic so no CF Moto for me currently 😢

My only beef with this commentary and "the gap between 300 and 700cc" is that Honda released the CB500X in 2013: this bike was absolutely ignored by international press until Honda, through various iterations, landed on a 19" front wheel to appease the Adventouring folks.
Then, the new XL750 Transalp was released and they had to remarket the smaller sister as NX500 which, strangely enough, looks a lot like this CF450.
Now it seems that the press embargo and stigma about A2 bikes has been lifted and everyone realized that you don't need 250+kg behemots to enjoy an adventure on your own.
Thank god, it was high time.

It seems that it's poor quality control, but it's really hurting KTM's reputation at the moment. One of my gripes is that the warranty is void if you do your own servicing, but I do know that in some countries (Australia for example), where the consumer has protection rights. A strange world we live in. Hey CFMoto, don't forget to build better cams, ya hear me?

Well that is a CORRECT and HONEST appraisal and something CF Moto truly needs to acknowledge and do everything they can to win over those who experienced THAT level of junk.
