I’ve had a 2002 Sky Desert Blue with white hardtop for over 10 years. Great looking, great ride, everything works fine and love it. Always feels like a summer day when driving or looking at it.
I love my 2002 T Bird, it’s teal green w/ two toned seats and I am a redhead so she’s called Margaret (Ann Margaret drove a Classic TBird in an old movie) . I have had mine for about 4 yrs…. We had to replace the air conditioner compressor not long after we get her… expensive process…but the car is fun to drive. The CD player failed and so did the actuator on the hydraulic fan pump, causing the A/C to no longer work ( while driving through the high desert on a 105° day.. but the car did not overheat so that was good. Still searching for the actuator part for a year+ now. But, currently live in a cool climate so don’t really need the A/C yet. Moving soon to a Red state and will need the a/c working. Overall nice car. Love the V-8
I’ve had a gorgeous 2003 T-Bird since 2016 ,but now that some problems have occured( directional signals) the parts to fix it are a big problem. Ford has declared these parts “ obsolete” so you’re on your own. Junkyards,eBay, LQK,etc. are your only recourse. Good luck!
Been through that many times through the years with a 1968 Mustang, 1968 Plymouth, 1968 Camaro, 1978 Trans Am, 1979 Trans Am, various F150's and several other cars. That happens when cars become 15-20 years old. As manufacturers stop making parts, the aftermarket starts producing them. Once the car is out of warranty, I service my own stuff using oem parts when I can and aftermarket when oem doesn't exist. Not a problem that would scare me away.
Coil packs and brakes are the only things that I've had to do. Oh...and the spare tire as well. If it has a Firestone spare, let the air out of it and replace it immediately. The FEM is a known soft spot. It can be repaired for around $300. Symptoms include instrument lights and headlights not working.
Look for the ABS sensors on each wheel they have a problem with rust jack. it rust so bad that the sensor is pulled out of alignment because the rust between the sensor and the spindle that it's bolted to get so Rusty between there that it swells up and it pushes the sensor way too far away to get it clear signal.
Way overpriced and two plastic ID for a new car but pretty cool for a used purchase. I sure wish they put a little more quality and effort into the T-Bird. But that being said I wouldn't mind having one now.
6 disc Cd changer eventually quits working, wait till the Hydraulic Fan Pump quits working and then the A/c will no longer cool. Impossible to find replacement parts… sux.
Never put 6 discs in the changer.that kills it.mine still works.hydraulic fan pump is a Jaguar thing.i believe 2003 and newer ones had a electric.probably can be switched out..on my second 2002 tbird right now
They used three different stereo head units in this car.they added auxiliary input then satellite radio input. in the 03 and 04.different plug ins in the back than the 02.not compatible.youll probably never find a 02 head unit.a car stereo shop can send the unit out be rebuilt...if u wanna go thru all that
This car created so much excitement when it was first announced and made the show circuit and then by the time it hit production all the car magazines were ridiculing it. I can remember MotorTrend specifically saying that the interior was like a bordello in this red and black combination. And actually the two-tone interior was the only thing that took that drab LS Lincoln interior up a notch. Otherwise it was about as stylish as a Rubbermaid trashcan. It also didn’t help the fact that every dealer was charging a $10,000 premium for this car in 2002 so literally to get one you were spending $50,000 by the time you were done with taxes and license. Also we would go look walking the lots, and the panel gaps from car to car were so different . In some cars they were perfect and other cars I could stick my index finger through it. I swear that all of them were slapped together in Taiwan. It was really the most disappointing rollout ever for Ford next to the Edsel.
@@TwoKeysStudio where do u keep the hardtop when it's off.that things big and heavy.looks good on the car but I didn't want all the hassle that came with it
It stays in the garage between the bird and my Mustang. There is about 6 feet between the two cars. My wife prefers it on, so most of the time it's on. We ended with car roof options of just about every type. The Expedition with no sunroof, the Fusion Sport with a sun roof (or moonroof?), Mustang GT with T-tops, and the bird converterible with a soft and hardtop. It just kind of ended up that way. I would like to put a winch in the garage to remove the hardtop with. It is a pain to do for my wife and I.

I just bought an identical one like completely identical 37k miles
Our 2002 T Bird has seat warmers and 18,000 mi. on it. Looks like brand new.
Nice! That option and tiptronic shift was added in 2003.
@@TwoKeysStudio Yep your right! Our 2002 T Bird does not have the heated seats it's our other car that does. I got mixed up. 🙁
We are thinking of buying one here in Seattle. Do you still like your T-Bird? No powertrain issues?
