    Thanks for the review Rob, I like your no nonsense style. I know these are good trucks. Ive never owned one myself, but have friends that do. I've had more experience with the Econoline vans, both gas and diesel, and they're pretty good trucks too. Happy New Year!

      Happy New Year Bob! You’re exactly right, Ford has been successful with their trucks and vans because they focus on their bread and butter- work trucks. They’re savvy enough to build the trimmed out expensive vehicles that make bigger profits, but they understand that making decent looking work trucks with some basic options available on them will turn that work truck buyer into a fancy truck buyer in time.

    Happy 2024, Rob! Great review, you are really realistic and down to earth, also about the emissions stuff etc. For me as a European it's really interesting to go into all the details of these trucks, since we don't really have them over here. Of course US pickups are sold in small numbers here but not the heavy duty versions. People would just buy a small coe commercial truck with a trailer 😅

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank You, and Happy New Year! It’s definitely a different world here in the US, we have the room for pickup trucks that can tow 40-50’ trailers that weigh 15 tons. Cool equipment, but In some ways it makes things less ingenuitive - solutions come easy when you can just build something bigger and more powerful.

    Hi Rob, first of all, Happy New Year to you and your Family, got to admit I do love the F series Ford's, but unfortunately here in the UK the biggest pickup we have is the Ford Raptors & I'm not a fan, plus they're not man enough for what I do, but hay ho, I would love to own a F Series but the export import fees are horrendous for us, but one thing I wanted to suggest is with your rear view camera fogginess, I did this with mine and it helped, if you take a toothpaste like arm and hammer with baking soda in it, put some on the lens and polish it out with a lint free cloth it does help clear the lens, I do the same thing with headlights when they start to fog up or the lens starts to go dull, saves a little money and it's only a little time to do, hope this helps, good luck for 2024, keep up the great work Brother.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks, Brother, I’ll try that with the rear camera. I think it also has done condensation behind the lens and it’s often black when the truck is cold, so is probably due for a replacement anyway, but that might get me by for a bit. I also don’t mind going back to relying on the mirrors to hook a trailer like I always used to before technology took the place of skill!

    • @tripod6406
      @tripod6406 6 місяців тому

      @robstruckshop80 completely agree, the technology is supposed to make life easier, but the younger ones among us are completely lost when the tech either goes wrong or just shuts down, you're like me where when we learned, you had to use your mirrors and skill level just to pass the test in the first place, I got my licence back in 1990, when here in the UK the first computers were going into cars, so everything was primitive, and now it's just gone down hill, I see some younger drivers and I have to wonder if they got their licence off the back of a corn flakes box. And they have the tech to make it easier, I think I'm just getting old and don't understand why they have to have such a reliance on technology, sorry for the whinge my friend, keep up the great work.

    Don't disagree with your recommendation to get an F350 if you don't need the towing capacity, but you should also mention that (in 2023/24 trucks) only the F450 has the wide front axle and MUCH tighter turning radius than the F350 dually (which has smaller wheels). There are more factors than just the capacity.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  3 місяці тому +1

      That caveat actually goes back to the entire history of the modern Super Duty, not just 23/24- the 450+ has always been wide track axle only

    Have you driven the 20+ trucks with the 10 spd? If so how is the comparison to your truck? I’m currently in the market for a single cab f450 (if I can find one lol) but I’m having a hard time deciding if I want to go with a 17-19 model or spending a little extra money to get a 20-22 model most guys say 17-19 is better for the 6 spd but towing wise you’d think the 10 spd would be a lot better. I’m just trying to decide between those options and just wanted your opinion sorry if you brought it up in your video I didn’t have enough time to finish it.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  13 днів тому

      I’ve driven one 10 spd diesel and we have a few 10 spd gassers in the fleet- I do like the 10 for towing, but it’s an improvement, not a night and day difference. I know it’s not across the board, but the 10 has had a few issues. For the small sacrifice in towing power and mileage, I prefer the comparative simplicity and reliability of the 6R140, that’s also why I plan on keeping my 450 for another couple years and pushing it towards 250k miles and hopefully by then a few more bugs are worked out of the 10 spd since I’ll be replacing mine with another Ford for sure. Good luck in your search, I love single cab 450’s, they’re a unicorn truck for sure but worth the time to find one!

    Thank you for the video! I just picked up a 2024 F350 SRW 6.7HO Platinum Tremor. I got it to tow a 18,000 pound fifth wheel RV. Coming out of a 2020 Ford Raptor that I absolutely loved. I can stay without reservation that this truck is absolutely amazing. I like it better than I did the Raptor. I spent a boatload of money on it and did consider the F450 since I’m at the top of my payload and GCWR. I like the idea that I might one day take it Offroad, which is highly unlikely. I was curious to see what your reliability had been and if you kept your truck completely “stock”. I am in Texas and so certain parts tend to fall off around here. Against my better judgment, I did buy all of the extended warranties just because I don’t want to spend any money on potentially high dollar items.
    It sounds like at least from the video you didn’t have any repairs. That was good to hear.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  2 місяці тому +1

      Correct, I’ve had very few repairs that weren’t regular maintenance, really just a radiator hose and the front end parts that wear prematurely based on my use. I’ve absolutely had zero issues with those “certain parts” that tend to fall off in Texas. (They tend to do that here in Michigan a lot as well) The F450 is a no-go off road, so your choice makes perfect sense and is very well suited to your needs. Good luck with it and thanks for watching

      I drove 2020 F350 DRW 6.7 for 60k miles and was waiting for 2023 F450 Limited for 11 months. With no end in sight, I jumped the ship and purchased 2023 Ram 3500 Limited DRW HO 6.7 , Aisin Trans, 4.1 Gear. I had full body Suntek PPF and Ceramic coating plus nano ceramic tint for interior including the windshield. I am overly surprised how good is Ram 3500 Limited. It has better interior, smoother with auto leveling kit, TPMS, Apple like keypad. Gas mileage is par with F350 Around 15.5 driving empty. Tire will be cheaper on Ram 3500 than F450 Limited. It is not a fast truck, but fast enough . I can drive few hours and my back doesn't hurt and leg is not cramping up. I do not tow, but do haul some weight and this is my daily vehicle. I will take the Ram over Ford now but do miss 10 speed on gas mileage. I am 5'10" tall and it is very hard to see the front. On Ram, I usually have to wait before taking a chance on a tight spot.

      @@wj2791 The Air system on the RAM trucks is nice. Sounds like you got a nice truck. About a week ago I added the Airlift Loadlifter 7500XL to the truck. While I haven’t towed with it yet I am not real excited about the difference it made in the ride. It’s not horrible but you do feel the change. We are leaving from Dallas, TX to 30A, Florida in three days. It’s a 13-14 hour one way trip. So I’ll see how these things do, I really just wanted to level up the ride. I found that I had just barely kissed the bump stops on the last trip, I am with in a few hundred pounds of being maxed out on “sticker capacity”. Timbrens or SumoSprings might have been a better solution but they don’t level up the truck.
      Like you, this is my daily and I rarely tow, maybe once every 3 months for a big trip and few shorter ones in between. I now have 9,500k miles on the truck and still loving this thing.

    As I start planning retirement, I want to get a truck and RV. Your point about daily driving, on days I’m not RVing, I would probably drive to check on my parents about 600 miles away and back. Would driving empty for those trips be awful enough to warrant having a car for those trips? Majority of it would be up and down I95.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  5 місяців тому +1

      I would say no, it’s not a horribly rough ride, but it is a truck that’s built to tow 36,000 pounds and have 2 1/2 tons in the bed. In your case, I would say it comes down to how often you’re going to be making those trips. If it’s on a regular basis, I would seriously consider having a car to drive. For me, it’s not just the ride, it’s ease of parking, the ability to fit in more places, and most importantly, the cost of wear and tear. It’s a lot more expensive to replace worn out tires, brakes, and all the other usual items on an F450 vs a typical passenger vehicle.
      Have fun, planning and enjoying retirement!
