u are a life saver dude😂 i’ve been dealing with this for over a year and can never seem to diagnose it. appreciate the video plus gave me a good laugh. i never thought of it as radio static. a grinding noise always came to mind for me but this video was a relief
I have been searching EVERYWHERE for anyone that has had the same noise I’ve had in my car. Thank you!!!
You are a legend - I've had this for months.. not found anyone who has recorded the sound properly.
Radio static sound - very creative! :)
Thank you!
Glad I could help
I was so freaked out by this problem. Thank you for explaining it.
Thanks Buddy....wife's car started this noise last night on the way to a restaurant. My teenage son found ur video. Ur a GOAT....
Glad I could help
This just happened to my wife's 320i. Thanks to your video I did the repair myself. Thank you
Hi man, my 320i has this issue, how did you solve it? ziptie? Thanks!
Wow. This is insane. I’ve had this issue for 4 months now, found this video. And I literally just bought some zip ties from Walmart jacked the car up with my boy and we just took care of this so easily. Thank you man for making this video cause holy shit that noise was driving me insane i swear
Glad it worked out!
Thank you so much, you're a life saver! It sounded like an expensive problem before I came across this video.
Glad it helped!
Oh sweet jeebus, I thought maybe my diff was starting to fail or something. Thank you, Mike - you earned my sub in a big way!!!
Glad I could help!
Mine starting doing the same noise today. I thought it was differential but it definitely sounds like this.
Hey Mike, I can’t thank you enough for this upload, this really helped me and didn’t have to explain much to the mechanic and you were spot on with the issue…however the mechanic was trying to make a quick buck out of me stating he needs to remove the whole thing, 😂 I just had to play your video….god bless and thanks a ton
You're very welcome. Im happy it was helpful. Thanks for the SUB.
Have the same problem and thought it was the driveshaft it self. good thing you came in clutch
I thought it was the centre bearing or the differential.
you sir deserve nothing but the best thank you for your help and saving me the stress of thinking my car was gonna blow
You are too kind. Glad I was able to help.
Thank you so much! I thought it was a super expensive fix, glad I saw this!
Thank you, Thak you, Thank you, I cant say it enough. The noise was driving me insane for months. Going to fix it myself. Mechanic mentioned the problems could possibly Shocks / Wheel bearings / Brakes. YOU ARE A LEGEND!!!!
Glad it helped
Thanks for the heads up. This exact thing is happening to me right now.
Appreciate it. You are the man.
No problem 👍
Thank you!!!! Started getting this sound couple weeks ago, excelent description, gonna try that fix now.
Dude….thank you!! This was driving me crazy and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. So glad you found and posted this.
Glad I could help!
Saved my life lol, my mechanic was not sure what the noise was on mine until I seen this video and just like that. Problem fixed!
How much did it cost you ?
Thanks for recording this! I have that noise coming only when there are three passengers on the back seat and some luggage in the trunk.
Not one garage I’ve been to could find the problem to this noise on my 320d, this video helps a lot 🎉
It's a strange one. Took me a while to figure out too ha. Had to share my findings.
An Epic Legend you are brother! 2017 X3
is causing me nuts lately and u solved it!
Glad it helped !
Hey man, I am back: it worked! Fixed mine with a ziptie. Now I can enjoy accelerating my BMW again! THANKS A LOT!
Very nice!
Thank you so much for this video. Had this problem with my 428i
The mechanic misdiagnosed the issue and I was about to pay a lot. Found this video and had it repaired the next day. Thank you so much!!
Glad it helped
Mechanics are good at tjat misdiagnosis thing haha
I have 430d 2015 and exactly the same noises and the same problem one was off . Thanks for the video and your time to show everyone. Take care 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad it helped
Very helpful . Thank you
My 320i started doing this. It’s insane how this is a common issue and BMW still use this plastic crap in a expensive car. Thank you for the video
Thank God for this video and thank you Mike for uploading I was about to replace the differential on my 2015 320i saw this video 15 minutes later I fixed the noise thank you so much
glad it helped!
Did you end up dropping the gas tank and doing it in 15 minutes?
Been dealing with this sound since I got my bmw in 2018 have had people estimate the fix at $500 😂 hell nah you are a life saver
Got estimated 800 at a bmw dealership smh was not having that hoped right on yt
@@virginiacastillo883 they wanted me to pay 1.200 just for labor. Worse, just to lift the car up and see with a flashlight (like in the video) they wanted $250. It's so much disrespect to the customer, its unbelivable.
Dude! So perfect. I heard this noise today and found your vid…. Fixed! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much! Been dealing with this for months and forgot that we have our BMW forum to come to the rescue!
Glad it helped!
Finally! Thanks for posting this!
You bet!
Nice discovery, I'm facing that in my BMW 3 series GT. I thought it was the drive shaft😢.. this is comforting. Thanks a lot for this diagnosis
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful
Dude, you're the best!! Thanks for the Video. I actually used a different way to repair since there is very little room and I wouldn't have been able to replace the retainer without dropping the drives haft. So I JB Welded a couple of clamps to the under side of the floorboard and secured the e brake cables back in place.
Nice work!
bro this video just saved my life and eased my stress 😂😂😂
😭 thank yooooooou! It was driving me insane! Almost took it to the shop just to get charged literally hundreds. This video avoided such cost 😭
Glad to help!
Just saved me a fortune! Dropped the heat shield and the snapped piece of clip dropped out. There was a clean circle around the shaft showing where it was rubbing. Couple of zip ties and now is all good. You're a hero!
Im happy it helped. Thanks!
What did you zip tie the cables to?
I made a tight diagonal cross pattern which held it to the remaining half of the clipping points (the outer sections). Not ideal but has held strong.
Dawg you made me think my 2015 bmw that I got last week was already messed up. Thank you so much!!
Glad I could help!
What’s the name of the part?
Thanks Man, you saved my life. I was thinking sell my car for the noise
Thank … YOU!!!! Making me crazy! Appreciate this video and info for the fix!
Glad to help
Bmw was trying to charge me $1500 to fix this lol amazing video! I used 2 zip ties to hold up the brake lines and No more Noise : ) total cost .25 cents . The reason this happened was due to the plastic bracket holding up the brake lines broke off . This video is spot on ! Thank you for this video amazing!!!
did you have to take the exhaust/gas tank off or could you fiddle the zip ties through the heat shield?
@@orlandotijerina2398 you can pull the cable to tension it and zip tie whatever you can reach. I fixed without taking anything off. But you need to lift your car to reach it.
The left side you need one zip tie, the right side you need to combine 3 zip ties so it can go around a big piece of black metal.
BMW wanted to charge me $1250 to repair it. The noise was 100% fixed
What did you zip tie the left side to?
Ima have to try this, I’ve had the noise for over a year now 😂😂😂
@@kuroro_zhey man, anyway you could possibly make a video or send a video of where you mounted the cables too?? thanks!
Damn I felt so embarrassed sometimes when I have people in my car with this sound didn’t know it was that making the sound thanks
Thank you bro... that’s my sound !!!!!
No problem!!
You're a lifesaver bro
omg i hate that sound so much i finally found the fix Thank you
This noise was making me go crazy thanks a lot… 👏🏽🙏🏽
You’re welcome 😊
I thought it was something in the speakers! This was exactly it - and I went the jury rigged zip tie method for the time being.
Thanks for the video! I was thinking something is wrong with transmission! I can sleep peacefully now :)
Mike, thank you so much for this video. This was driving us nuts as we had the same issue and everytime we took it in, the mechanics would never hear it. Next step is to determine if I want to do this or let the mechanics do it. :)
Nice! Glad it helped
Did you ever get this fixed. If so how much.
@@joyonefarmer3777 a place just quoted me 400 because of the supposedly 3 hours of labour it would take
Thank you I appreciate it very much bro for showing us so fast and simple when I heard the noise all I thought was $expensive$ lol but with one zip tie fixed the problem rather then replacing the whole clip holder and removing part thanks again!
Glad I could help
Hi mate where did the zip ties go? I'm going to try that aswel.
thank you - شكراً جزيلاً على ما قمت به ، استفدت منه كثيراً جداً
You got a new follower exactly the noise I’m hearing
Thank you. Hopefully it helps.
Bro thank you, I’ve been stressing about that sound for months. Thought my car was done for. I just fixed my oil filter housing too smh . Another common bmw issue.
this just happened to me, i thought i had a huge problem. thank you
I love you man 😂 I was about to sell my car cause I thought it’s an engine issue 😂
Thanks
Glad I could help. It's a weird one lol
Hi, What’s the name of the clip?
Retaining clip..
Hi I’d just like to say thank you very much! My garage thought it was the differential and was going to change the oil in it.. which was going to cost around £300-£400! I came across this and showed it to them, the day after they had it on the ramp and guess what it was the failed retainer! Thank you very much 😊
Hi, I'm happy it was helpful!
Mike you’re a genius!
Thanks. The magic of editing.
You are a legend, thanks a lot.
No problem
You are a genius. I have f20 and the same noise, but only in sport mode, and with hard press on throttle pedal.
Thanks, Just trying to help.
Cool, thanks for posting 👍
Huge help, thanks bro!
No problem!
I work at a BMW indy repair shop and see this all the time. We use the AGA Parking Brake Cable Repair kit. Highly recommend it and easier to install compared to the factory plastic POS bracket.
Good to know. Thanks for that info.
Thank you so much for this video. This sounds like my exact problem.
You're welcome!
OMFG! This is it! Thank you!!!!
I fixed my car without taking anything off
Just some zip ties whatever you can reach
Thank you for the video
Nice! Glad it helped
Thank you so mutch I've searched so many site's just to figure out what's going on🎉
Glad it was of help! You can use a zip-tie to hold it in place in the mean time till you fix it.
Absolute life saver
You are an absolute lifesaver
Happy it helped
Thanks bro been going crazy lol
Glad I could help
Thanks sooooo much for this video I've managed to zip tie for now. I owe you a beer!
Excellent!
Same problem! Thanks for figuring it out🙂.. I was going crazy hearing that sound..
Finally I found what cous this sound❤
This is Ittttttt!! Thank Youuuuu🙏🏾🙏🏾
You're welcome!!
Ok Mike
A follow up on my last comment:
I watched this video and actually printed out a couple screenshots from your video of the cable clip and gave them to my mechanic.
They had done some work the week before and didn't clip the cable in. At least thats what I was pretty sure happened based on the knowledge in your video and told him as much. I told him to "check this when you lift the car" and handed him the printouts.
I picked up the car the next day and he said "You were exactly right, it was the cable. All fixed now, no charge."
You f*ckin rule man, thank you.
-Patrick
Thats great! And it sounds like you have a wonderful shop too.
You are the the GOAT
Thanks. Just trying to share some tricks.
You are a genius!
Nice video! Although the noise is a little bit difference(not blur as radio noise but quite clear rattling sound), this is definitely a place worth checking!
It can also cause a rattle noise when going over bumps. Sounds like a bell ringing kind of.
Thanks for the help. BMW charging me $800 to get this fixed, I think I’ll try it myself lol
Hey, nice video. I had this noice today for the first time and thing that your video might have helped me find out what the problem is.
But I have a question. How important is it to fix this problem? Do you think you can drive for about a week or should you fix it right away?
Appreciate a fast answer. Thanks!
Nice video!
It's not an important issue. It is just annoying. You can zip-tie it up in the mean time.
Cheers matey sorted mine out
man thanks a lot thats excatly what i need to fix
Thanks! That would be hard to guess at, well it is plastic so that’s bound to happen.
Thank you mate!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video sir 🤙🤙🤙
You bet
I was about to drop three grand at a shady mechanic. Thank you so much!
Oh dang! Well glad this helped you. When I first heard this noise a few years ago, it took me a bit to figure out. Something so simple.
Thank you!
👍 worked i use tie straps
Thanks - that’s what my car has !!!
Good bless you man. Can somebody post a video on how to actually fix it ?
Thanks,,, i have the same sound with my mustang ecoboost 2019
And i think it’s the same problem
Exactly what I hear. Thank god its not something too serious. Zip ties it is.
Thank you bro
No problem
❤❤ thank u!!
You're welcome 😊
Hey man thank you for this video. This is the exact sound my 2016 328i is making. A shop told me that a bearing or joint or something in my drive shaft is busted and the whole drive shaft needs to be replaced, what do you think about that? Would that issue cause the same noise as this? Would appreciate any input, thanks
Dang, show them the video and see it it is the same thing. Its not a bad repair. Parts are cheap. Mainly labor.
man i swear i bought the car last week and today i hear the same sound i was very sad this is exactly what im looking for
OMG, I think that is it. The noise it the SAME! Iwill try to fix and come back here to post my results.
this clips a in e 90 too? i hear the same sound somethimes?
Is it one of these parts for both cables or two? Each side?
Thank you so much for this video my car just started this today, I though my trans was done... Hopefully this is my issue, thanks
Was it the trans😂
Mines making this noise. After putting new engine in my car. First day driving it home. I'm scared to drive it back to my garage tomorrow
@tykendrick800 mine wasn't the transmission, it was the e brake clip. It was kind of a pain to change because of the design you have to lower the fuel tank a bit but it only took like an hour to fix. Good luck man.
Thanks so much for this info Mike! I did get under my 2018 330i and try to find the noise, which is not as loud as yours. However, everything looked to be intact. Since my car is still under warranty (and I do not feel like dropping a gas tank), is it safe to assume this is covered by warranty??
It should definitely be covered under the new vehicle warranty. Thanks for watching!
Yesss bruh I was like Wdf happen to my bruh thank you so much
