I started hearing this noise once I installed my downpipe and thought it was a symptom of that - did a lot of reading in the forums and concluded that it was something to do with the wastegate flapping around due to a possibly faulty downpipe install. Little did I know... Since the noise occurred only under heavy acceleration, I did a few pulls and tugged the e-brake handle to take up slack in the cable and voilà: noise dismissed. A little more searching got me here. Thanks guys !
I bought some china made replacement part off of AliExpress. Doesn’t look anything like the fancy Fcp euro part, but it is metal and it was only $5. doing the fix today and if it doesn’t work out I’m going with cable ties lol
Love the videos and keep up the great work. I have this exact same problem with my car. I did a temporary fix that doesn't look very good so this will be very useful.
Next on my list - oil pan change took me like 22 hours - a lot of time cussing about why tie hook doesn’t fit 2015 428i and also why the transmission cooler line bolts were so hard to remove. bMW wanted $1200+ to do this repair. $4500 for oil pan change. $300+ to change serpentine belt
A nice bit of kit. A little pricey, but good to know it exists. I wonder how many folks (including me) might try throwing a couple of zip ties on there first.. maybe secured under a large washer on that stud.😬😆
Totally agree, mine just broke a week ago and was so excited when a saw this video, went to buy the part and realized it cost 20x the cost of the factory part, definitely not worth the extra cost I’ll just do the job again rather than spend the extra 190 dollars
Go on turner motor sports they have it 125 that’s where I got mine. 200 is ridiculous 125 is reasonable . You drive a BMW nothing is gonna be cheap. Go the expensive way and get the metal or get the cheap plastic one and in another 40k miles the sound will be back.
@@prodkevv2freefornonprofitb982Yes I actually made the comment referring to the cheaper price as I'd seen that on the AGA website. $125 is still pretty unreasonable for what it is. I don't get FCP's mark up on that one - I'm sure someone will mention their lifetime warranty but realistically that's never going to be needed here.
Like the video I have a 2014 f30 335d xdrive just did this today had the cars back wheels on ramps but jacked it up higher you need plenty of room took 2 hours from start to cleanup a little bit awkward not the worst thing I have done though I got mine for $155 or£122 Inc Post to the UK 5 day postage not from aga as they wanted a lot for postage Yes it is expensive for a small item and I could have got6 or7 of the plactic clips but I didn't want to drop the tank or pay bmw £800 to £1000 do do the job don't know what a independent would charge and then don't know how long it would last I would rather pay the price do it once and know it should not happen again hopefully
I did this in my drive way but I kinda put the heat shield back on wrong at first and bent it someways and now it’s making a scraping noise when I let off the gas 😂 I’m guessing it’s making contact with the drive shaft
What if I once did hear that scratching noise and I "fixed it" by doing the zip tie mod from the inside of the car by going in the rear AC vents in the back seat? I no longer hear the scratching noise at all. Should I still do this?
UPDATE: BMW F30 335i M-Sport Rear Wheel Bearing AND the #ParkingBrakeCableClip BOTH FAILED at the same time at only 78k miles. Less than an hour for the #ParkingBrakeCableClip AGA Tool aftermarket part fix install. 6-8 hours labor for the new rear wheel bearings, hub and, axle nut. #SlideHammerCity Very similar rear grinding sounds.
Awkward to do, but managed to do it with car on jack stands, without lowering exhaust or fuel tank. Just loosened off bolts for heat shield, to bend it out the way a bit, got a small 13mm spanner to remove the nut, used small side cutters to cut away old prices of clip, and tightened a new metal clip from eBay on top of it. Worked great happy days
Can this also cause high speed vibration? I have also noise + high speed vibration underneth/ armrest/seats on load. Tyres/rims all balanced and also tried wheels from friends car. Still having highspeed vibrations + 100km/ph Car is bmw f80 m3
Yahtzee!!!!! WoW! Another aftermarket solution to fix a BMW design defect. #FCPEuro to the rescue!! BMW Parking Brake Cable Retainer Repair Kit - AGA Tools AGA-PCC-854-898 I either have this Parking Brake Cable issue or the exhaust actuator clip fell out. Ugh...
Your design is too troublesome. Look at what I produce. You don't need to disassemble so many things. It's simple, convenient and save money. It only costs 1 dollar.
Crazy how I just started hearing this noise on my ‘13 and this video found me!
Wish we could take credit for how insane the internet is these days haha. Easy enough remedy!

Thank god you guys made this video I thought I was going nuts
Imagine doing this with just two jack stands and on your back. Oh wait it only took me 4hrs and many explicits 😂
Next week, I will do it! 😅 any suggest ?
doing it tomorrow just like that
Damn... I'm planning on doing it this way too next week... :(
Get some ramps too lol
@@swae507were you able to do it?
I bought the DIY fix part and about to put it in. Thanks for the video it will help a lot. Kind of expensive but final solution.
BMW just quoted $1000 to fix it on a 2017 320 i sept 11,2024
Had the same issue fixed it with 2 cable ties 10min I didnt take anything off repair is still going after 2 years
Nice

@@Fuzzard10 how did the fix go? With the Aliexpress part
@@Fuzzard10yeah howd it go
You should have done a video on that! I need to see how you did that because I'm about working smarter not harder
Could you guys release a full build video on this particular N20 car? That bracing you installed from the F32 is intriguing
Love the videos and keep up the great work. I have this exact same problem with my car. I did a temporary fix that doesn't look very good so this will be very useful.
If this is such a common issue, why the hell don't they recall it?
Because BMW Wants the money of expensive maintenance 😢

I am thinking of trying that instead.

FYI - torque specs on subframe brace. T45s - 24Nm, T60s - 100Nm +90 deg
Thanks for dropping this!
Thank you so much for this!!!
Whilst it's a good solution, the price of the part is ridiculous for what it is.

Good on FCS for this video, bad on them for the absurd overcharging on this part. Turner and ECS Tuning both sell it for $127.
@@prodkevv2freefornonprofitb982$20 every 40k miles is better than 120 tbh
Man I had this exact noise on my 330i. I thought it was my transmission going bad. Few zip ties on the cables at the rear and no more noise.
Now, since I don't really have access to a lift, can I find an independent BMW shop that will install the aftermarket part? I'm pretty sure I can...

I just used some tywraps worked perfectly
can you explain or show a video on how you did it
If my hand brake also does not catch at all, do you think the issue could still be bracket or the whole cable itself?
The cable may be very stretched, or the whole system needs a severe adjustment. Worth doing some diagnosing first!
This makes such a terrible noise for how small of a problem it is

we got pump jack and 6 pieces of wood. wish us luck
200 bucks? rather spend $10 for the genuine clip and spend an extra hour on dropping the fuel tank to get more access.
$183 + tax for that kit 😮
BMW plastic - don't think about it, don't even look at it. It is glass.
