Although… that kind of playstyle is kinda archaic with the internet readily available now…
i especially do not understand how Runerigus was figured out in swsh without datamining, I often look it up online when im evolving one and still can't do it correctly
In regards to your Farigiraf experience, there is one rule that all games follow: new evolutions to old Pokemon must not involve a method that was theoretically possible in older games. That means that the Pokemon must use a new item, a new move, or a new mechanic. Girafarig could not evolve by using Headbutt or Zen Headbutt because those moves existed and could be learned by Girafarig before this game. Thus, it would create a logical inconsistency when you ask the question of why Girafarig couldn't evolve in previous games.

Bloody finding out how Finizen evolves is the absolute greatest piece in cinematic history, I will watch it over and over and over and over and over again.
When setting up your pokemon in a chess formation I was thinking Rookidee and Corviknight instead of Palosand and Mudsdale, so you would have: Pawniard, Rookidee, Corviknight, Bisharp, Vespiquen and King Gambit
Actually, I was in the datamine scene when the game was leaked. The game was datamined 10 days before release, and dataminers couldn't figure out how to evolve Finizen even after the game code was dumped. They only knew it had to be at least Lv38, that's what the code dump says. What other condition is needed is totally unknown. It took a whopping 48 hours for dataminers to test how to evolve this dang dolphin before someone came up with the big-brain idea of trying out the f-ing multiplayer option. I even saw a dang list of what they tried out to evolve the dolphin, as you could guess the list was quite long. Which btw at that time you can't legally link the game online so whoever figured this out had 2 hacked switches and put the leaked game rom in both of them to do this.
That's exactly what I do for every new Pokémon that comes out and this is so much fun ! To this day, the 3 only Pokémon that beat me and that I had to watch online how to evolve are Malamar, Runerigus and... that freaking dolphin.
@@Blooby Yeah, that's the stupidest evo ever made haha. Some of the evolutions in PLA I got by mistake / not knowing how, but there was NO WAY I could have evolved Galarian Yamask without knowing AND Runerigus isn't found in the wild. But spending hours/days trying to find these evos is still so much fun, and you feel so PROUD when you finally get it !
This is a great challenge! I ended up doing this for most of my playthrough except for the final stale locations, most of which I had just missed out on. Great video!
Random recommendation from UA-cam for this video and now I am going to subscribe really liked your thinking. Especially with bisharp to king gambit I wish the chess pieces method worked. Also I would have given up with palafin loved your determination in solving the evo method
My finizen story : It all started with my lv 35 finizen, i noticed it stats were pretty low And it should have evolved, i thought to myself maybe i need a water stone, it didnt Work, then i trained it UP to lv 42, nothing happened i was like:"well maybe its like pawmot but in the sea" After going through the south paldea sea 20 Times And lv it UP, nothing. I Said to myself well gonna need to figure that later 2DAYS LATER I connected to thé union circle to play with my Friend And continue completing the pokédex by leveling UP the pokémons, so i took finizen my highest water type And took it to thé place with orthworm because thé next important thing was near After grinding UP 10min my finizen evolved i was like : "WTF what did i do that i didnt before ?!" Then i Said screw doing it BLIND i am looking on Google why it evolved
Oh goodness, you're braver than any US marine. o7 Finizen is a nightmare to figure out on one's own; I would have probably eventually figured out that it required connecting with another player, but I think I would have gotten stuck thinking it was a super specific trade requirement. If I can say one thing in its defense, though, it's that it's no Galarian Yamask. I refuse to believe _ANYONE_ could have ever figured out how to evolve Galarian Yamask on their own. EDIT: Honestly, the Headbutt theory for Girafarig was really smart, IMO. It could have doubled as a reference to how trees were headbuttable in Johto.
ahhh thank you!!! yeah the dolphin was crazy, it's kind of a miracle I even figured it out at all, even despite the setbacks. and YEAH I'm kinda bummed my idea wasn't it!! but heck I'm glad to have tried anyway lol

I read them as fin-Citizen and Paladin-fin like the paladin has to protect the citizen with his superhero form. It wasn’t until watching your video that I realized you need a PAL to evolve it 🤦🏼♀️
I would've never figured out the walking evolutions without the internet. The fact that they go back inside their ball if you stroll too far away from them made me think the feature wasn't developed very well.

for the dolphin it makes some sense, the term wingman comes from dolphins, so you need a wingman to help you evolve it.
wait whoa I had no idea! thanks for the fun fact haha
Bloody finding out how Finizen evolves is the absolute greatest piece in cinematic history, I will watch it over and over and over and over and over again.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
We’re sorry it had to come to this.
We tried to warn you time, again.

LOL
just got recommended this video and I subscribed so quickly!!! your editing is fantastic and you're hilarious! I can't wait to watch all your videos
aww dang, thanks so much!! hope you enjoy the rest! :D
When setting up your pokemon in a chess formation I was thinking Rookidee and Corviknight instead of Palosand and Mudsdale, so you would have:
Pawniard, Rookidee, Corviknight, Bisharp, Vespiquen and King Gambit
I mean that makes a lot of sense, but I still enjoy the logic of the horse for the horsey piece :)
So this has become one of those videos I put on when I need an emergency shot of Serotonin and it works.
awww shucks that makes me so happy to hear
This was fantastic! Games are so much more fun this way, and it was so entertaining watching you work it out.
I'm so glad you enjoyed!! Yeah I definitely wanna approach every Pokemon game like this in the future
15:45 this is hilarious and now I want chess themed champion
hahaha heck yeah!! I'd love for them to do a real chess puzzle in the future, would make me so happy
I have so much respect for you trying to figure out all of this on your own. I do not have that kind of patience 😂
awww dang thank you!! it's so much patience and hard work, but gosh dang does the payoff feel good at the end when you finally figure the stuff out :D
- What if I trade? Nah, that's too complicated.
2 doritos later: So, if I make one of my PC boxes into a chess board...
HAHAHAH that’s incredible
Gotta say, your evolution method for Kingambit was genius and I wish it actually worked like that in the game 🤯
ahh thank you hahaha, I hope next time pokemon employs more creative evolutions like that, it'd feel so cool ^_^
Which btw at that time you can't legally link the game online so whoever figured this out had 2 hacked switches and put the leaked game rom in both of them to do this.
phew that's a wild ride LOL
I love that you used chess to evolve bisharp you have the best reasoning for evolutions I would have never thought of that
hey heck yeah thank you!! I'm hoping pokemon can go in that kind of direction in the future - I seriously love puzzle solving in roundabout ways
That's exactly what I do for every new Pokémon that comes out and this is so much fun ! To this day, the 3 only Pokémon that beat me and that I had to watch online how to evolve are Malamar, Runerigus and... that freaking dolphin.
ahh it's my first time doing it like this, I can't even imagine dealing with Runerigus
Odd thing to say but, seeing bloody's reactions to success is absolutely adorable xD
aww I appreciate that, it felt so good to figure some of those out
Rookidee staring at the Palosand like 👁️ 👁️

I love the energy you put into your videos, keep it up :)
Liked and subscribed
ahh thank you so much!!
This video was absolutely hilarious, you got my sub!
awww shucks, thanks so much!! welcome! :D
Palafin, the most obscure evolution next to Runerigus.
yeah I'm hoping for more like it in the future!! it was too fun to try to puzzle out.... even if I did go a little insane....
This is a great challenge! I ended up doing this for most of my playthrough except for the final stale locations, most of which I had just missed out on. Great video!
aww heck yeah, a fellow puzzler! well shucks thank you!!
the bit with the inflatable killed me
hahahaha it almost killed me too!! I nearly slammed my head against that wall when I tripped
oh no 😮 the comedy was worth it ?
This is my first video of yours, and I LOVE your energy!!!!
awww shucks thank you!! and welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed
Gamefreak really needs to take notes on how to evolve Pokémon. Especially with the king gambit idea that bloody had.
right?? I'd love for them to take one of my ideas someday :D
I am so glad this randomly showed up in my suggested.
well I'm so glad you enjoyed!! :D
thank you for blessing us with this amazing, maddening content
thank you so much for watching!! I can't go full crazy and tell the tale without y'all
Random recommendation from UA-cam for this video and now I am going to subscribe really liked your thinking. Especially with bisharp to king gambit I wish the chess pieces method worked.
Also I would have given up with palafin loved your determination in solving the evo method
awww shucks that's real sweet of you, thanks!
Not gonna lie that whole bisharp thing was amazing
ahhaah thank you!! :D
"I didnt have a clue how any of these new pokemon evolve
*shows a gen 8 mon that we have had for 3 years*
oh no you've caught me I put the wrong image please don't tell nintendo I've never been to jail D:
My finizen story :
It all started with my lv 35 finizen, i noticed it stats were pretty low And it should have evolved, i thought to myself maybe i need a water stone, it didnt Work, then i trained it UP to lv 42, nothing happened i was like:"well maybe its like pawmot but in the sea" After going through the south paldea sea 20 Times And lv it UP, nothing. I Said to myself well gonna need to figure that later
2DAYS LATER
I connected to thé union circle to play with my Friend And continue completing the pokédex by leveling UP the pokémons, so i took finizen my highest water type And took it to thé place with orthworm because thé next important thing was near After grinding UP 10min my finizen evolved i was like : "WTF what did i do that i didnt before ?!" Then i Said screw doing it BLIND i am looking on Google why it evolved
Nice
YOOO that's super awesome that you managed to get it organically! you're definitely one of the few, bravo!
Very cool and unique concept, big fan!
so glad you enjoyed!! :D
This is the first time I've ever seen one of your videos, but the editing and the quality of this is fucking phenomenal, subbed and looking forward to more!
ahh shucks, thank you!
I read them as fin-Citizen and Paladin-fin like the paladin has to protect the citizen with his superhero form.
It wasn’t until watching your video that I realized you need a PAL to evolve it 🤦🏼♀️
OOOOO I never thought of it that way - wow that must've been a rough time D:
@@Blooby I ended up looking it up at that point. I commend your efforts for doing this completely blind.
The youngling scene really did it for me
Hahahah so glad you enjoyed, that was one of my favorite bits too ^_^
At least it was just Palafin that got her. Imagine if she had to try and evolve Galarian Yamask without hints…
I would still be trying probably LOL
I would've never figured out the walking evolutions without the internet. The fact that they go back inside their ball if you stroll too far away from them made me think the feature wasn't developed very well.
I tried doing the same thing during my playthrough. Gave away at the Finizen and the 1000 steps.
oof yeah those two were killers. I'm kinda lucky I got to the steps one the way I did, otherwise I probably would've been stuck on it all day
My answer: dolphins.
That really got me XDD
I'll bet there is definitely going to be a continuation to this once both DLC comes out lol
ohhh I hope so! if the DLC has enough puzzles to solve then I'm ALL FOR IT >:)
@@Blooby As long as Geeta becomes the final evil boss/gatekeeper of the puzzle in the DLC haha
Kinggambit messed with me so much that I learned how to become superior at raids to get one that way lmfao, just subscribed!!
hahaha it was a super rough one. welcome!! :D
Blooby you are an utter delight
aww thank you
I loved the chaotic energy here. SUBSCRIBED
HECK YEAH THANK YOU
