Im currently breeding H procyon, thayeri sp red tail, H sp red cherry, H melanaostichos and H peugeotorum (peugeoti) and much more. And ive already pushed down the price of alot of them in sweden due to most of them being fairly easy to spawn if you have alot of spare time. Eilyos is a real challange to spawn from what ive heard
@emilsfishroom Happy breeding! The Swedes sound like great breeders. I wanted to also feature Thayeria sp Redtail and Hyphessobrycon sp Red Cherry too, but didn't have enough B-roll or pictures. The name peugeotorum was redacted quicker than it was published. One week Hans told me to use the plural form, then next Flavio said it was no more.
@HoonAquatics I don't have much experience with cameras. Right now I'm reading that mirrorless and full frame sensors will capture fish better. I'm looking at possibly a Sony a7 III but honestly I'm just starting my search. Cameras are almost as bad as fish or maybe worse when it comes to opinions. Hard to figure out what's real and what's not.
@FwishList I think brand comes down to personal preference. I've heard great things about Canon in terms of fish photography and Sony being great for video
The genus used to be monotypic, but the genus is expanding. Scratched Tetras going from maybe the most expensive debut I've seen of a tetra, to being available as TR in under a year is a great indication they may be affordable in coming years.
@EmperorTetraObsessedPerson yes, they breed the same. TR specimens from Borbi on Aquabid aren't cheap, but are at a price where they may be a good investment if you want to bred them. I'm sure they'll relist them once the weather warms up
@drockingfish All of the fish pictured are mine! Although Dan is a great source of rare tetras, I didn't get any of these from him personally! If I remember right, he's had Racoon and Imperial Lapis right? What was the 3rd?
@drockingfish I listed my preferred tetra sources near the beginning! I sometimes get them from a few of my sources. I would just go with whoever is the cheapest in the moment. A good majority of my fish now come from Moonlight since he's local and a good friend.
@jonashanke5224 The distinction is made and noted because many think the fish was named for the car company. Though the family is notable for many things, the car has nothing to do with the discovery of the fish.
Great video and super informative thank you.
I don’t think I’ve seen any of these locally yet here in the UK but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for them!
@@JonRandall-g7o Thank you! If the UK is still importing from Germany, I think it's likely to start seeing some of them in coming years!
Racoons are so amazing!
@Wen-lv9qk I agree! I love all of the "Lowae" tetra group that have this body shape. Procyon might be the prettiest of them all

@@HoonAquatics lol that changed fast 😂
Great video! Do you have a favorite camera or lens that you like to use for photographing fish in the aquarium as well as taking video?
@FwishList thanks! I use a Lumix camera, which I probably wouldn't recommend. I only use two lenses for fish, with a 12-60mm and a 75-300mm zoom lens.

2:18 well, I guess I will stick to the Kerri tetras If I ever want an inpa genus tetra

@ Kerri tetras are quite easy to breed, Its very likely this will be the case with the scratch tetras

Did you get all of them? I know Dan has had 3 of them!

@@HoonAquatics Ok I rewatched and there were only the 2 offered for sale by Dan. So did you get yours from Moonlight?

@@HoonAquatics ok, I have looked at Moonlights fish listing, but never pulled the trigger yet.
Peppermill AND Car Factory are inventes/founded by the Same Family.
