I bought the fresh prep shredder slicer attachment at $100 dollars...and was VASTLY disappointed with its cheap plastic construction. It flexed and bent while grating anything which had me fearful of it breaking. The last time i used it a piece of cabbage got stuck between the feed chute and the pusher and that was it. The cheap plastic construction came home to roost as it broke before it came apart. Given that i had only used it a very few times before it died i would heartily recommend you DON'T buy it unless you enjoy throwing away your money. Kitchenaid did offer to sell me a replacement at a slight discount but something made cheap is NEVER cheap enough. Cheers...
I have the pasta maker, ravioli maker, shredder/slicer and food processor and icecream bowl..I'm not a big fan of the shredder/slicer...but all of the other attachments are wonderful. I'd like to try the pasta extruder and the sifter as well.
The metal bowl and whisk attachment are all you need to make excellent ice cream. 1 can chilled evaporated milk + 1.5C powdered sugar. Add vanilla, cocoa, whatever…. Whip it and throw it in the freezer, whisk & all. Whip it 2-3 more times every hour or so until it’s like soft-serve. Fold in any add-ins. Eat soft or freeze overnight. 👨🍳 (Adjusted for my Kitchenaid from Dylan Hollis’ ~ Poor Man’s Ice Cream recipe ~1949).
I am a huge fan of KitchenAid, but the shredder was a huge disappointment. It does shred parmesan quite nice, but processing carrots or potatoes with this attachment it's such a struggle. I highly recommend the metal meat grinder, though. It was worth every penny.
I LOVE my shredder! It lives on my mixer 24/7. I never buy dry expensive preshredded cheese anymore. But you’re right about the slicer. Carrots, cucumbers, etc,… come out a bit mangled. I use my food processor for that.
Ice cream makers aren’t expected to make firm ice cream. You’d need a tractor to turn a paddle through firm ice cream. 😜 You have to put it in the freezer to finish it. But there are so many excellent recipes that don’t require a machine now, it doesn’t matter.
As an Italian I can tell you that the "Gourmet pasta" module is not great, it costs a lot but the extruders are made of "plastic" and as an Italian it is something I hate, if you make pasta at home it must have bronze extruders! There are several reasons it is not a whim.
ice cream and pasta shape maker are waste of time and money, everything else are great. Don’t be tempted to buy non OEM versions, a non OEM slow juicer allowed juice to get back into the gearbox and motor.

The newer model of the shredder/slicer is much better than the older one I had. I had to replace mine. It wore out😹
Thanks for the great video! Keep it up!
Will newer attachments work on the vintage mixers?
Thank you. I now have a better understanding of how to use them.

Hands down the pasta maker would be my favorite. ❤
I always wondered what the front hole of the Kitchenaid was for. I don't have one myself but grew up w/ one in my home.

Only the pasta roller/cutter and meat grinder is worth it tbh
I didn’t see a meat grinder or did I miss it?
