There are lots of 16-year-old phenoms. Some of them peak while still teenagers. Others keep improving. Time will tell on Myers.

Jakob and Cameron are exactly what this world needs right now. Constantly setting new records, constantly improving... becoming massive threats to the 1500 and mile world record (Both were set circa 2000). These two runners are, without a doubt, going to destroy both of the world records. The great Hicham El Gerrouj was about 25-26 years old when he set both the 1500m and mile world records. Jakob has 3 years to go to get to that age, and Cameron is turning 17 in a week. If neither of them are at their peak right now, get ready for those records to be broken constantly in the next 5-10 years...

They do have the benefit of improved footwear technology and many other aspects that would have benefitted runners from the past, no more cinder tracks and even now as new tracks are laid they talk about them being fast, tech is definitely helping , along with the training regimes of course , and hopefully no peds

I hope Cam is well managed over the next 6 years, the transition to senior ranks is tough. If you look at the history of very young mid distance high achievers , very few of them ever end up with Olympic or world champs medals, Ryun, Cram, Ingebrigtsen are the only ones that come to mind,( may have missed one or two). Wish him all the best.

Very promising talent, no doubt. But also keep in mind when comparing to Jakob I. that he rarely was running for PB. The season where he was 16, the ONLY race he competed against better athletes, was in the Stockholm Diamond League. In a race where he quickly was left behind and running solo 20 meters behind the rest of the field. And the wind was 6 to 8 m/s so absolutely no perfect conditions. That he was capable of at least 2-3 seconds better time that season is almost certain. Which seems even more plausable when we know he ran 3.31 the year after, at 17.
But can Myers be at Jakobs level when he is 22? hard to tell but absolutely one of the most promising together with Dutch runner Niels Laros.

Yeah, Myers is only 16, but improvement is not always linear nor is it always constant from year to year. Plus, there's a world of difference between 3:28 and 3:38 for 1,500m. Maybe check back when Myers can break 3:50 in the mile, because at this point, he's not even in the same zip code as Jakob.

Why hype kids on the come up? Let them develop and see if they have sticking power. There are going to be young guys like this every single year everywhere in the world who post promising times but never materialize into world-class competitors. As time goes on, past records get broken -- what records Ingebrigsten broke when he was younger will be broken, just as all of Galen Rupp's seemingly untouchable American records are. People get faster over time, but what matters is what Ingebrigsten is doing today and it's so weird to be comparing an amateur talent to arguably the top middle distance talent in a generation. You're only using Ingebrigsten's name to boost your views because you know nobody would click on your video if the title was just this amateur kid's name.

      Hello there
I would greatly appreciate your input. We want to encourage people to enjoy skiing and running, and one way we do this is by presenting great athletes.
Young athletes should be allowed to develop at their own rate. However, recognizing their accomplishments can spur others and rekindle interest in the sport. No pressure will be applied to Cameron Myers, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen's achievements won't be questioned. Instead, we want to present the most interesting new middle-distance running research.
You're bang on - records are made to be broken! We mention well-known athletes not for clicks but to give context.
Your suggestions are crucial and will help us develop our future material. Thanks.
      And remember...keep on running

Ummm ok then 😂. Jakob is what, 5 years advanced from where Cameron now is? For sure Cameron is a prodigy of note and someone to watch for the future. But please let the young man develop, finish school and become an adult athlete before adding pressure to him to compete with someone who is at the moment in a totally different league to him.
And yes I look forward to maybe a few good showdowns between the 2 of them in years to come, but please for now stop with the clickbait 😅😂

Reality check: there are many " threats" based on talent & limited # of good times run, however, this is always the case.
The cream rises & has already risen to the top.
    Just look @ Timothy Cheryriot---he was a " massive threat "
    How did that materialize?
It didn't, as Jakob Ingebrigtsen became Olympic Champion, with his gold medal performance & also World Champion in the 5,000.
It's easy to hpye up so called " contenders to the throne"--However ,Ingebrigtsen has proven himself SO MANY TIMES----the rest is just hyperbole & incessant chatter...... dream on, Jakob's here to stay!😮
