There was an article about Anders Aukland (born on september 12th 1972) from NRK in 2023 (january) when Anders was 50 that talked about his incredible fitness. Here are some details: At 180.5cm (5'11) he weighed 69.5kg (153lbs). That is a BMI of 21.3. 29.2kg(42.0%) was muscle, 6.9kg was fat(9.9%), and 7.1kg was blood (10.2%), and 3kg was bone (4.3%). His heart pumped 4.5l of blood each minute when his pulse was 56bpm. His VO2max was measured at 72.9 mL/(kg·min). Back in 2005 (age 32/33) his VO2max was 88.0 mL/(kg·min). In the deadlift he was able to do 140kg (308lbs), one year earlier he did 150kg (330lbs). In the pullups test he did 26. He was a bit dissatisfied and said he "should've been able to do 30". In a podcast (i det lange løp) he revealed that at age 50 he ran 3000m at 9:15-9:20. His PB from 1994 is 8:02.77, and in 2014 he ran 8:32.51. (In the 5000m his PB is 13:57.6 (1992), and he in 2014 he ran 14:50.08) In this video: ua-cam.com/video/Kbm5AJrrxbM/v-deo.html& (7:56) you can see that he did 23.27 in a 5k on the treadmill with 10% incline, followed by a 17:45 in a 5k on the ski erg, followed by 7:16 in the 2k on an erg rower. (in 2020) In 2021 he set the world record in longest distance skied, with 700km (435 miles) in 41 hours. He has 4 victories, 8 podiums and 10 top 10 appearances in Birkebeinerrennet (54km), 1 victory, 6 podiums, and 14 top 10 appearances in Vasaloppet (90km), and 2 victories, 5 podiums and 12 top 10 appearances in Marcialonga (70km) He won Birkebeinerrenet at age 40, got second at age 43 and 3rd at age 45. He finnished 5th in Marcialonga at age 46. He finnished 2nd in Vasaloppet at age 42, 7th at age 46, 8th at age 47, and 9th at age 49. He is an absolute legend. I wonder how his fitness will be in 10 years.

You are making too much of it ,he’s a harsh father but i don’t think he’s a bad one , in Africa there are a lot of fathers like that we still love them , when people come from difficult upbringing they behave that way ,you can’t rationalise it, but then discover that they just care too much and have hypertension or other medical conditions , modern western world is right about highlighting the abuses that may happen but drawing some distinctions are important as well.

This Josh Kerr hype is off the charts - he promptly got outkicked by Nuguse in his next Diamond League 1500 following Budapest, despite having pacers in the Zurich race to help him break GB’s natl record, and was suddenly “tired” (i.e., he “couldn’t” run in the Pre Classic in Eugene) after Ingebrigtsen set another WR in Brussels (this time in the 2000m) - probably a smart move by Kerr, though, since Ingebrigtsen just missed a 3rd WR in 2023 in the mile and followed that up with a ER in the 3000m the next day @ the Pre Classic - until Kerr changes his sit & kick style (detested by knowledgeable track fans) to the hammer-it-from-start-to-finish approach run by Prefontaine in the ‘70s and Ingebrigtsen & Nuguse now…let’s just say Ingebrigtsen’s 2023 will never be forgotten and may never be replicated, while Kerr’s one win v. Ingebrigtsen was just another sit & kick yawner

“He doesn’t win a lot of paced races” the only races he is in that don’t have pacemakers are world/Olympic/European champs and xc races. Any event that doesn’t hire pacers probably isn’t a big enough event to attract the attention of the best track distance athlete in the world. A lot of trash from Ker when ingabritsen has run 2 seconds faster in the 1500 while being three years younger. On top of his dozen European records and handful of world records. Regardless of what happened, I don't like when families take things public. Anything that happens in the family should stay in the family unless a crime is involved. We don't know if a crime was committed, but we do know that Henrik disputes the story of the other brothers and that Gjert is not in jail. If they aren't prepared to share ALL of the details, then they shouldn't go to the media, period. What are they alleging exactly? Did Gjert beat someone so badly that they ended up in the hospital? Did he yell at them and spank them? Did he beat them with an object? Did he do anything at all, or is Henrik the one telling the truth? Nobody knows but the brothers and it makes all the difference. We can't draw reasonable conclusions when the sources withhold the very information needed to evaluate the circumstances.

The training program you listed isn't even close to what they do . He may have done that when he was 10 years old but, not now . Tuesday , Thursday he does threshold training twice a day . Long intervals in the morning and short intervals in the afternoon .Saturday morning he does the intense hill interval repeats with a strength and Stretching program in the afternoon . Sunday he does 1 long run of around 20k easy . Every other day not listed , he runs twice a day around 10 k each run at easy pace . Im not 100 percent sure of this but, have seen many programs that lists this as his usual program . He himself says he covers 180 to 195 k total per week during his Winter and Spring indurance build up . And less mileage during the summer when he races the most and the fastest

As they themself implied in their letter. It was one thing when it happened to themselves, but seeing a younger sibling being abused they had to put a stop to it.

This is a difficult one at least their father left them with something many abusive fathers ONLY destroy. Anyway is this just more fame grabbing?

He is reported for domestic violence. NOT by the three brothers but someone else in the family. One of the older brother has not done it. So either big brother, little sister, little brother or their mom. It was one event that finally made them do the dessision to split from him.

Their father was a bully, who bullied their boys and family, so now the boys are grown so wouldn't they become as the father a bully. So maybe there's some truth that some of the people that are saying that they are bullies. This might just be the case. Like father like son. I don't know personally any of this. I only know that I enjoy watching Jakob run. I am a 1-mile and 1500 m runner. I have learned a lot from watching Jacob run.

Gjert is a engaged, outgoing and tempered man, with a big love for his family and wanting the best for the family. It's not hard to imagine that on occations he has been very engaged and pushed his sons quite hard regarding training and lifestyle. Some of the children are more sensitive than others and have dealt with it in a harder way than others. People do not get wolrd champions by having 'nice' trainers, but need someone pushing them hard. When the sons got 20 years+ or so and their sport got really serious the father should have stepped down earler and let others train them. If the father was a bully for real, his marriage would been over long time ago.

@@Rimrock300it wouldn't be the first time a Mother stod by her husband as the kids were abused. I believe Henrik and the other siblings. They have no reson to lie. Controlling and agressive trainers are not uncommon.

Wives standing by their husbands, that might be so. Not difficult to imagine he has been tough at times, but they would likely not been at the level they are without toughness. He has wished the best for his kids, not been tough out of evil. What's done is done. Kind of silly to take it to the courts, just makes things worse. they are a big family, several grown up kids now, strange they could just not sorted this out within the family, been done with it and moved on. The boys have found nice wives, about to create their own families, and continue their carrieres, seems to be doing well, even with some toughness in their teens from their father. Big boys now, stronger than their father, why not give him a real beating as a 'thank you', shake hands, be done with it. @@Hypotetiskt

They do right to call out this abuse. Too much pressure on these great young men from all corners is such a shame. My heart goes out to all their family members, especially the women who must be sick of this pattern.
