Cheptegi's records are now in danger the tides of East African dominance are turning slowly each record going down. Jakob is still young, incredible shape and more importantly mentally strong. Its time for him to break the 5k world record and eventually the 10k world record. I believe he can he is already the defending world and olympic 5k champion that is the event he should focus on going forward and make history. Norway taking the top spot in distance running going forward ending the 40+ year streak of the East Africans only time will tell.

Apparently traumatic events like this Olympic upset are an amazing fuel for success just because of how much an athlete doesn't want to go through those negative emotions again and hence is ready to go through more to make sure he won’t fail . Idk how much truth there is in that, but the general idea does seem to make sense.

amazing, thats like running under 3.39 on the 1500m but then 2x in a row!!! and a last 800m in 1min53s. insane.

It's 8,7s on a 60 m,for 50 x in a row,or 14,5 s for 30 x 100 m in a row.His speed in his winning the gold in the 5k was even faster. He there had 3,51 for his last 1600m,and therefore he had a little over 3,52 for his last mile. His last 600 was 79,0,s,usually he has no problem with 27,0 s for a 200m,had he had that on the 200m before his last 200m,his time for his last 800m would have been 1,46,0,an had he had the same speed as his last 200 m,26,11 his last 800 m would have been 1,45,11.Now we can say, becauce his speed in the first 3600 m on the 5k in the Olympic wasn't so fast as his speed on the 3k,so its naturalytelser that he had more gas left for the end of his5 k,then the speed in the 3k,even if he was setting a new world record. But anyway, his end in the 5k in the Olympic, was pretty fast, and faster than in this 3k race.
