Cheptegi's records are now in danger the tides of East African dominance are turning slowly each record going down. Jakob is still young, incredible shape and more importantly mentally strong. Its time for him to break the 5k world record and eventually the 10k world record. I believe he can he is already the defending world and olympic 5k champion that is the event he should focus on going forward and make history. Norway taking the top spot in distance running going forward ending the 40+ year streak of the East Africans only time will tell.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen was close to giving up this race because he damaged his shoe during preparations. Fortunately, the guy who was the first to greet him at the finish line knew a friend who was a specialist in sports footwear for this type of race, and thanks to that, we can now celebrate a new world record.
We are witnessing one of the greatest gifts from GOD! Ive never seen so much perfection in running form and lean from a distance runner in my life.His anaerobic intake is off the charts not to mention his mental toughness.....what a gift!!!

Yes annilated,and the truth is,had it not been so warm weather,he could probably had run faster,they faren it could be 32 degrees celsius,and I think it was 29 c,a pretty warm weather to compete an run in world record pace.

He was injured earlier so he lost a lot of training making the olympics come a bit too early but he got the fast runs he needed to get in top shape and now we see the peak form.

I wonder how Jakob would do at a steeplechase. He's tall, seems ideal for it.
He won the norwegian championship at the steeplechase at 16 years old,and I think he run and won European junior steeplechase and won.
His ambition is all world records from 1500 to half marathon, that includes steeplechase, but it is not a priority at the moment,
