Just finished my deck today based on the template and it's an absolute beaut! Best video on UA-cam to give an everyday Joe courage to take on a well worth it project. Thanks for the post!
Awesome video man! Do you think the method I've seen of tracing the seam on the bottom of the boat would work for a template? Someone said to trace an inch inside the seam, but I didn't see that in the videos of people doing it. So I don't know which to do. Also, did you need to make the sections a little smaller for the hinges to hinge? was the stability around the hinges better than without? I was hoping to do without (for storage purposes). If i put the foam tube all the way around each section would that help if I didn't have hinges? thank you in advance for any help yo can offer. I know I through a lot at you, but I would really appreciate it!
Great video thanks for sharing!! I’m thinking about doing the three please for just the way you did and I am wondering does it feel pretty stable when walking near where the hinges are?
Yes, tends to be very much more stable since the hinges don't fully close on one end but just on the other to allow the wooden pieces to come together. I'd say it's not as stable when you're walking away from the hinge but it's because you're on an inflatable boat and it's gonna be wavy Ideally, the fewer pieces you have, the less wavy it's gonna be.
hello, thank you for the excursion 5 boat floor tutorial. I am from France and there is no comparison in the country. I would like if it is possible for you to send me the pattern (the printed model) for making the floor. I thank you in advance and thank you for the description. I will do a demo on UA-cam for French speakers with the transfer from inch to cm. Thanks again. See you soon.
I'd put something over those hinges that are facing down they might puncture the boat. You might need a thin piece of carpet lined plywood at the underside of the front hindge to stop the opening and closing an possible pinching of the tbe boat floor bottom at this point.
Might want cover up those hinges on the bottom side because they might pop that floor. Maybe swap them with the hinges with the rounded corners. Either way thanks for the video and nice work.
I saw videos of laying 1'" PVC piping down to give it an airspace between floor and more stability between sections. Great video thank you for posting!
Hi, thank for the video. It really helped me out. I was having a hard time trying to figure out the measurements and how to make the outline and you did that for us. I know its been over a year since you posted this but I have to ask, do you remember where you got that print out that you used for the corners? And lastly, I'd love to hear an update on where you are a year later, did you ever make the bimini? I didn't see the video and did you keep the floor in 3 pieces or did you end up making 1 solid piece? I plan on doing a floor similar to this but I want to add a couple of captains chairs as well and a storage box for my battery and other equipment.

Of all the UA-cam videos, this is the best floor mod I’ve seen. Definitely using this for the excursion I just ordered. One recommendation: I’m planning on adding fence cane bolts to the boards on top to really keep the boards in place and prevent any flexion.
Hi! Really nice way to make a foldable floor. I was planning to do so first, but I am not actually sure if this hinged floor is stable enough on the water. So I was planning to make a 4 piece floor, with bolts and nuts in between the parts. So one can simply screw the parts together with a 3d printed nut sleeve. I think I will document the building process and share the video of this approach on here. Maybe this would help someone out as well.
you could make it very sturdy with a sliding type of kingpin that goes between each section, 2 one on each side. pretty simple to do just gota buy the hardware. sorta like what a trailer hitch has, you just need to bolt some U shaped shakles onto each section and slide a kingpin thru em.
@@Runescape. I wish I knew what you meant. I am very new to this, but would love to try your approach. Would you have a link to said sliding kingpin, or how to use them? It would be much appreciated!
Did you ever do it? I would love to see. I am wanting to make a 4 section floor as well, but am worried about stability. Unfortunately I don't know much about building stuff. What kind of nuts and bolts, and nut sleeve would I need? how would they attach to the sections? Thank you in advance if you can help me out!
@evan2290 hi! Unfortunately I didn't had the time yet to start this project. But I could make some 3D models on how to build this and make it public for others. Maybe on thingiverse, since I would 3D print some parts. I will post a link here im the comment section.
It's 3/4" plywood that you find from your local hardware store. I suggest using that for structural integrity but you can probably use something thinner.
Intersting mod! Im planning to do that, but i want to know, you inflate and deflate every time you use the boat? With the hard floor would be better to leave the boat on a port or something no? You think is good idea? I don’t want to damage the boat keeping it all the time on the water.
Cool boat with very nice inflatable floor on which you can easily stand. Why do so many people need wooden floor ? To make boat heavier , harder to transport ? To have less space in the boot of your car ?
Why wouldn’t you just use a clear drop cloth and trace the bottom of the boat and then transfer it to the plywood it’s MUCH easier and much more accurate than what you did. Also, half inch hardwood plywood is more than enough for strength. You’re just adding a lot of weight with a thicker board.

I appreciate your kind words and glad it could be of help!!
I think I am going to try acrylic or lexan for the floor.
Muchas gracias amigo, lo voy a hacer, he comprado un bote igual con motor, y necesito el piso más rígido.
Zamieżam zrobić podłogę w bardzo podobny sposób. Zawiasy wytrzymują?
Have you done the Bimini? The canopy for the boat?

Hey did you ever to a video of the canopy for the boat?
I actually got a bit busy but I’ll definitely post it for an update.

do you inflate the bottom before putting the hardfloor in?
Do you inflat the floor when using your "deck"?

@@Microbert90 That would be amazing if you did! I'm pretty lost trying to figure this out.
Just curious how stable is the floor when the boat is on the water
Definitely quite stable. If you want it to be crazy stable then you have to make a solid piece instead of a 3 piece.
Nice video. I planning to make something like that to. What kind of wood is that? How thick is it? Could it me less thing or will it break?
It's 3/4" plywood that you find from your local hardware store. I suggest using that for structural integrity but you can probably use something thinner.
Hi! This is perfect! May i buy one from you?
hello, can you advise me what cloth you used to cover the floor? Thank you
So as stated, I used the cheapest carpet you can find in your local home improvement store. Hope that helps!
Great video!! How much do you think the floor weighs?
I’d say it’s a little heavy since it’s 3/4 inch plywood. I’m 140lbs and I can still pick it up and move it around. I’d say it’s around 35-60lbs
@@audiesbuilds thanks man! Looking forward to more vids!

It works just fine inflating and deflating, no worries when you have carpet and foam backing
Hey bro, how thick was your out door carpet please for it to flex/bend right round the floor?
Not sure it’s been awhile but I got like the cheapest carpet made for outdoor I believe. It’s not very thick

Hey buddy nice work! Just thinking how about the hinges on the bottom .. touching the floor of the boat and May rip it. What do you think?
Thanks man! And they weren’t problematic for me since the floor board is real secure
Do you have index of excursion 4 :) thanks
Unfortunately, I don’t have the Intex excursion 4. Sorry about that

@@Paradicted a million ways to skin the cat but it’s just the way I did it for this project! Anyhow, that’s a great idea for accuracy and efficiency!
I hope those staples doesnt rust and puncture the boat, I would rather use strong glue / drill some holes and zip tie it.
That’s not a bad idea either! Whatever works!
not nice
Can’t satisfy everyone
