Great review. This game has the best intro & ending ever imo. My GOAT so far.

Same, I'm really looking forward to the DLC and whatever else they do in the future if they keep up this level of quality.

@@WorldOfWaldo The DLC's gonna be about saving our kidnapped spider waifu in one of the chapters. Then the next games in the Black Myth series are gonna be all of the other famous Chinese stories including curiously a romance from "A Chinese Ghost Story".

@@damiester1 Whenever I see "Ghost Story" now my brain automatically sees the Title Screen to the infamous English Dub of Ghost Stories..

I was surprised by the amount of effort and passion put into this game, as a Chinese person, I am used to seeing Chinese imitations and inferior products. It seems that there are still people who are willing to spend time creating good products. We have enough cultural heritage and technology to create good games. I hope to see more people enjoying games with Chinese themes in the future. However, the story and content of this game are very subtle and deep, and require thought and research into the references to fully understand. I think the Game Science should provide more auxiliary information to help people from other countries understand the story.

Honestly I agree with all of this, the entire time I was playing the game I noticed I had a much more difficult time than normal doing my usual commentary for 2 reasons: First was simply because of being constantly awestruck by everything I was seeing visuals, attention-to-detail, voice-acting on both the Chinese & English ends, Music, all of the good stuff like you mentioned); But the second reason was also because I quickly realized just how little I understood about the Story of Journey To The West itself - Because it admittedly does toss you into the game under the assumption that you already know this story and all of the characters involved, which, let's be honest, most Westerners don't. We're all aware of the story thanks to Dragonball and countless other shows/games, but the original story itself is largely unknown to most of us. That being said, I do still think that they have done a fantastic job that's worth enormous praise.

Bro, thanks for sharing! What do you think of the replayability of the game? Probably too early to predict as the game has only be released for 1 month so far, but I hope the game would get wider reception in the western gamer community just like Elden Ring did.

No thank you bud! So far I'm now on NG+2 and I'll go ahead and tell you without spoiling anything: It's very clearly meant to be played at least 3 full times through minimum and not in a bad way. You definitely get to finally experience the Power-Fantasy aspect of being as powerful as you feel you should be once you hit your first NG+ cycle.
