- Watermelon Rind Preserves
Make you some. I can’t wait to make some buttermilk biscuits, split them open, and add a pat of butter and a spoon of these preserves.
Remember you can make preserves out of all kinds of fruit. All you need is the fruit and the sugar.
My first time eating them was with my George at a log cabin restaurant. They served them with steak and biscuits. What a treat. What a night!
I miss our sweet times together. Hold that husband's hand, tell him you love him, and may the sheets feel good to your toes tonight.
Have a great 4th tomorrow. God Bless America.

At its most basic, cooking means applying heat to food. Whether the food is baked, fried, sautéed, boiled, or grilled, it's all cooking.
People still cook some foods over an open flame, in addition to using tools like microwaves toasters, and stovetops.

Hello
My Aunt Gene used to make watermelon rind preserves, oh so good!!!
Dear friend , you are a joyful HOOT, and that is some concoction you got there, thank you 🤪
Love watching you
Yes ma'am!! I just put up 7 - 1/2 pint jars of Watermelon rind preserves. YUMMY. Now I'm getting ready to make CORN COB JELLY. And yes, I have also made jelly using the purple hull hulls. My grandmother did all that back in the day. I'm 73 years old and I LOVE CANNING. ❤️ YOU are such a precious person God knew exactly what he was doing. YA KNOW GOD DON'T MAKE MISTAKES. Love your channel ❤️ 💕 stay safe and continue to be blessed.
I'm from Sacramento and my parents from Nebraska/South Dakota. My mom canned and made watermelon rind pickle, dill pickles, bread and butter, and mustard pickles. Canned peaches ,pears and cherries ,homemade jam . Back in the day there were orchards and farms all over Sacramento. She saved baby food jars and we would slice up peaches and put sugar on them ,then put in baby food jar and freeze ,then had them for our lunch box . Kept lunch cool and a nice treat
I had so much fun watching and learning from you. You remind me of working with my mom! Thank you❤!
Hello I love you too Happy 4thofJuly
I made watermelon rind preserves right after we got married. It was so good but never made it again. I did make watermelon jelly a couple of years ago but the rind preserves were so much better . Also made cantaloupe jelly and it was good on toast.
My grandpa was the world's worst about going to my granny's washroom where all her canned goods were shelved and getting a jar of watermelon rind or pear preserves and eating them straight from the jar on the tip of his knife. How do I know? He shared. 😃
My favorite way. Out of the jar with a fork 😊
Thank you for this video. I have heard of this for years but never knew how to make it. Love watching you.
You remind me of my granny she could take nothing and make all kinds of stuff to eat that was fit for anyone!!! ❤️☺️

My grandma who died in April, made watermelon rind pickles. I asked for her recipe, but I waited too long and at her age she didn't have the recipe written down and she couldn't remember. I am so happy you shared this!! It is most like what she served with roast and meats. Thank you!
I'M sorry for your loss
I just watched a video from Moved North Homestead and it was her granny’s recipe. Maybe it’s like your granny’s. Happy canning and blessings
I've heard of pickled watermelon rind but never heard of watermelon rind jam. They both sound good. I'd like to try both some day.
My favorite for most of my 71 years. I've made boat loads of it. The yellow watermelons make beautiful yellow preserves.

Now this brings back memories of my grandmother or like I called her, Maw Maw. She'd make this every year & my great granmother would make homemade biscuits to go with it. Momma had all of Maw Maws recipes, but when she died they mysteriously went missing. Anyway, this is just so simple to do & worth trying because it's soooo good. 👍🙋♀️🤗
Thank you. I have been hunting for this recipe a long time.

You have a new knife!!! My grandmother's neighbor made this back in 1972. I have never had any since. I am excited to make this one. Thank you for doing old things of the past that some of us hold so dear in memory. It is true, food has lots of precious memories of our lives lived. You are so precious to me. Thank you for your precious recipes. HAPPY JULY 4TH WITH YOUR FAMILY.
My aunt use to make this she lived in West Virginia I miss her
I'm a day late, and a dollar short. I already gave my watermelon rind to the chickens. :D Gonna have to go buy me another one.
Thank you for sharing , indeed thankful too for living in this country and the many blessings we have .
I will have to try this after we have our watermelon. You are such a joy to watch.
We used to can everything out of the garden, when a crop was ripe we canned it, summer into fall. We made watermelon pickles and preserves. I still make both. I use a peeler, it takes off just the green and leaves as much rind as possible. I like a little star anise in mine..I change up the spices.
Never heard of that, I’ve had watermelon pickles from the rinds and love those!
Looks good
I’m gonna try this!
Thank you, going to try it😍
I will be making this for my family. Can't wait to put it on some hot biscuits with butter. Thank you, you are a Joy to watch!

Never heard of this before! thanks for sharing with us. You look lovely in green xxx
Hello from WA. State!
I just learned that the rind was edible, that's how I ended up finding you! I bet it is delicious! What would happen if less sugar was used? Would it be too sour? Now I feel sort of badly that I've been tossing all the leftovers to the birds and bugs.
Thank you for sharing!
Love watermelon don’t forget the salt
I can't wait to try this .... I never knew how... Thank you !!!
Hello
How are you doing today?

Hello 👋 , how are you doing today; how’s your family and everyone doing over there 👉?
Looks delicious!! Happy 4th!!! 😊
I made Yamato Cream watermelon jelly yesterday…. So yummy! I fed the rinds to the chickens. Next one, I’ll try the preserves! 💚 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
Happy 4th to you !!!!
Last year I made tomato jam. it was very good.
Barbara I dobt think I have ever watched anyone make that. It looks wonderful. I am going to try to make some. Thank you. Happy Fourth of July. God Bless🎉
I have made corn cobb jelly, watermelon, purple hull pea jelly. Its all good
My mother used to make watermelon rind preserves, but she never wrote anything down. She also would use the meat of the watermelon and make preserves out of that but she didn’t write that down either and now it’s all lost and I don’t have the recipes to either one. It would be really nice if you would write down how much of each ingredient you put in there and how long you cooked the preserves. The recipes I find on the Internet and I try them they don’t come out the same but yours looks pretty much the way I remember as a small child watching her cook.
Yummy you sureño no what to do.😋💓💓u
My mema used to make this, and it is delicious. ♥
You look so much like her too.
Would you please show how to make rhubarb juice for drinking. I had some when in Finland. It was sweet and delicious!!! Thanks
I have never heard this before
They look more candied than preserves…maybe there was too much sugar, for the amount of watermelon rind. Mine is always more like preserves. They’re always so good on a hot buttered biscuit. ♥️
my mom made watermelon pickles.
👀🙏♥️
Did you put sure gel in it. How did you get it to firm
Wouldnt it be easier to peel the green off with a potatoe peeler just like peeling russet potatoes b4 you cut any watermelon to eat or for rind
Happy 4th of July!🇺🇸
