I've always had a hard time getting into MMO's since I just have a few hours a day and want to play them to chill, I really wanted a game to play longtime, to see the progression and now finally with GW2 I've found it and I'm so happy about it, I really enjoy discovering the world, and since you don't need to grind to have the best possible gear, I really feel free to do whatever I want in any order as long as I enjoy it. It's incredible, playing it alone right now, getting to know all the mechanics step by step and having a blast. 10/10 video by the way ! ^^

WvW is really awesome and it's great you enjoy it! I think it's one of the stand-out features of the game, and no other MMO currently on the market offers anything like it. Also good to hear you pointing out how the mounts improved the open world content. The mounts really do make a huge difference and ANet has been steadily making them more accessible to players compared to when they were first released.
I like the horizontal progression. I'm back playing after 7 years and all the gear i have is still good gear. I did have to start a new character to re-learn the game and not feel overwhelmed, but once i got him to level 80 i hop back on my old char and it still plays mostly the same minus some balance patches were done to the skills.
Great video! I love how they update maps and graphics and give you lots of cosmetic options. Traveling and fights are satisfying. People like Asmongold hate on the game cause they never tried it. 🎉 I'm a returning player and every map I go is full with players. I love how the world feels alive

I love GW2 achievements! I've had periods where I play for a couple of weeks and then end up taking a break from the game for a year or even longer. This was because I often found myself rushing to farm gold and not really enjoying the game in the meantime. However, recently, while I was working on obtaining the flying mount skyscale (which, yes, costs gold), I realized I was eagerly counting down the hours until I could play again. It suddenly clicked for me that achievements are what truly excite me about starting to play. Now, I'm focusing on earning all legendary trinkets, which can be quite expensive. However, as I work on them, I'm also earning a decent amount of gold, and I might have enough by the time I need it. While metas, world bosses, and WvW are cool, they can become repetitive if done frequently. I just wanted to express how much I love achievements since they almost always offer something new and exciting to pursue.
I was same. Kept quitting before lvl 80. Then I finally stuck with it and got my head into the world, and now I'm 800hours deep. I have one regret. That I didn't stick with it sooner..
Started it in beta, played for some time, sold my account. Returned in 2018 or something for a week Next in 2019 for another week Tried to play it in 2021 again for a week or so. But I never tried to play it just for fun and without any goals like: "Getting strong af as soon of possible" So some time ago I started playing it like that, just for fun, nothing more and I am hooked.
Gw2 has best open world mmo features starting from shared rewards for killing the same enemies 😂 it is a big factor to have reason to kill same enemies instead of forming a line to kill an Elita (wow classic)
I am starting it. But went the "I want to experienced from start" route. Instead of the "I want the latest". I am taking my time. So far so good. I love the exploration part. And that the battles seem like battles and not like dances. The jumping to get to the vistas really add to the exploration. Difficult to reach, but not impossible to reach. I still believe in SWTOR and FF14 are better. Really dislike the side conversation of GW2 instead of acting cameras. But I guess the style was to minimize the amount of work needed for each screen. But as I said, I am just starting so who knows. So far what I like to most are that the fights feel like fights. And the exploration.
i can tell you (NO SPOILER) conversations get insanely good, not only story and voice acting wise, but also exactly what you mentioned you wont be bound to a screen with characters on left and right talking your character is fully fledged voice lined later on and you aldo have several dialog options and can freely move during all this
I love gw2, I just know it doesn't give me the MMO feel like FFXIV does. I've played GW2 on and off since launch and I've started to see what GW2 reminds me of. It reminds me of an assassins creed game like Black flag. Run around and mess about with its interesting traversing systems and kill mobs and join whatever event is happening

I returned too and it's fun at first but when you already have the best equipment the fun dies down and the horizontal progression gets a little boring
I'm a very new player to Guild Wars 2. I tried it back when it first came out, but couldn't get into how different it was (I was heavy in my WoW addiction back then and any other MMO was hard to get into). Now, I've been looking for a new MMORPG to get into that I don't have to pay monthly for (unless I want to), and I tried Guild Wars 2 and I'm hooked! I'm kicking myself for not fully giving it a try back in the day. I can't wait to full explore this world and discover the story!
I have always hated guilds in any game. Stopped playing pretty much all of them when end game was locked behind guild progression. So I never tried this game. Just because the word “Guild” was in the title. Wish someone has said you can play without joining guilds. It’s a great game. Even for the solo morph players like me. All 11 of us. 🤣
I did level up to 78 in 2021 then quit, want to get back into it again. I still remember my rotation but that is it 😅. Should i start over? The 78 is a warrior so should i start a warrior or other class. Any tips for returning players
Destiny 2 is pretty fun, but man I don't think I like where the expacs have gone lately. Excited for the return of a certain character they're teasing though, missed that guy. Sword Warlock is fun to play, just don't get caught in your own Nova Bomb.
i want to get into guild wars 2 so bad but not having an expansion pack and a mount feels so bad. maybe once i get into a stable financial situation, for now, i got to stomach f2p games
Yeah, I feel that the mounts really do make the experience in this game and I doubt id still be playing without them. I hope things start looking up for you soon 🙏
Keep checking on the expansions. They quite frequently go on sale. With the new expansion coming out soon you might be able to pick up the older expansions cheap. After a quick Google search I've found that you can currently get Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire in a bundle for $20 to $25.
@Sidrouf, if you didn’t already know. The core game is f2p. So you can at least get your feet wet, get your character up to max level. And once you can afford to get an expansion, you’re good to go.
I hope things improve for you. As already said, Path of Fire and Heart of Thorns bundle often goes on sale for 1/2 price if you're able to get it when it does. Also, If you play the base game and start trying to figure out how to get some gems by either going just a bit out of your way to collect nodes of ore, flax seeds, raw materials or start paying attention to and trying to get as many achievements as you can tolerate, you can get gems for gold in game or as an achievement reward that you could use for parts of living world seasons when you hop in game.
honestly it really is the best option right now maybe on par with FFXIV if someone prefers a more "usual" mmo game design but imo GW2 also best mmo right now
the only thing i dont like about gw2 is that every character has to the map completion i wish it was account bound. well you dont have to do it but still
It is starting to look dated but some people have nostalgia for these types of graphics. I would be happy if they updated but its not a priority for me.
i stoped playing because you need 100%map completion to get the strongest sword. and after all the xpacs its annoying.. last version of space sword is what i been playing for.... its way to much mind numbing time to spend months grinding 100% map completion in every xpac.. when ide rather pvp and have fun.
im not in to the wow m+ begging for group getting denied thing pvp is the feature that draws me to mmos and in guild wars 2 the WvW is pve door and the gear doesnt matter in bgs. id rather play wow and destiny 2 for pvp over other mmos like gw2.
I don't care what anyone says: Destiny 2 is as much an MMO as a CoD lobby is, and I will die on that hill. There are 0 massively multiplayer activities in that game.
Gw2 the only game where i like the pve and pvp .dungeons just finding out last night has like 4 different paths that changes everything depending on the choice u make.
Nice game really, I just don't like that with every character you make, you have to do hero points, waypoints, and everything again and again, not to mention the vistas.. why can't be this on account or something?

Im in the same boat kinda, i was hardcore into destiny for the last few years, and then i bought digital deluxe lightfall in february, and downloded guild wars before the release…needless to say, i didnt play lightfall even once. And im not even mad, destiny is going to deeper and deeper shit with every season and guild wars is BOOMING! 💪 im playing gw everyday since

GW2 still a really good game. WvW Content is my favourite. There is much to do in this game. PvP, WvW and a lot of PvE. Worth it in 2023.

Have you tried ESO, it has a lot in common with GW2. Horizontal MMOs are definitely way better than vertical
