- Science and military have been closely interlinked since- and especially - after the Scientific Revolution in the late 16th century in Europe.
In this video I give a brief account of how wars and military conflict have helped scientific progress and advancement in Europe and vice versa.
Bibliography:
FRANKOPAN, The Silk Road: A New History of the World
HENRICH, The Weirdest People in the World: How the West became psychologically peculiar and particularly prosperous
BOUSQUET, The Scientific Way of Warfare: Order and Chaos on the Battlefields of Modernity
intresting thoughs allah humma barik lahu
Thank you! 🙏
sapience institute x titan slayer crossover when?
"Only A European author could have concluded that the Natural state is to be in a constant state Violence....... " this is a profound Remark on the Hobbesian conception of
Human Nature and its relation to European Violence.
and Nietzsche's desire of Power, or Machiavelli's gEniUs
Thank you again for your beautiful video
Love the format. Brief and to the point, linking deep ideas/patterns across books, and a minimalist setup.
It's nice to let these small pieces of ideas out every now & then. It doesn't habe to be an organized video format. Just talk about something you want to in these small pieces.
sir plzz do more videos like this... very deep and engaging
Thanks for sharing, hope you would be aware about George Saliba work,

What's the name of the warfare book?
BOUSQUET, The Scientific Way of Warfare: Order and Chaos on the Battlefields of Modernity
Full of knowledge... But it requires a better narrating style. Like Muzamil or Faisal warraich.
Very important point brother...
Competition and Division was indeed the main driving force...
Muslims at that period were much more united in that era, like the most of the muslim world was dominated by the three gunpowder empires (ottoman, saffavid, mughal)...
They were more focusing on stability of the state rather than inventing new radical ideas...
this was also one of the reason initially for not allowing Printing press...
printing press wasnt unallowded... they ottoman did it for arabic texts only like that of turkish, farsi e.t.c for languages like latin it was allowded....this was to secure the jobs of calligraphers that were very powerful and influential.....
Interesting, this explains why every modern technology has something to do with military tech i-e Google maps infact i heard the invention of the internet was for military purpose to but hey we use it for tiktok
slayyy shershah

@@_titanslayer_ i see, hope you are doing well 😊
But isn't it true to a larger extent that man's natural state was that of to be engaged in violence? i mean the form of violence can be different or intensity can vary but this holds true for a larger set of human groups rather than associating it with Europeans.
It is our nature to fight and be violent sometimes. Just like we eat food and sleep. Hobbess is saying that the natural state of Man is to be in constant state of violence, an All against all. Basically if there was no Leviathan state then every single individual would be on the street with a Machete wanting to chop any guy he finds in the street.
This completely goes against biology and human behaviour. We are naturally social creatures. The ability to cooperate with others without an top down super structure regulating our behavior is natural. We are not taught to be social. We just are.
The point is not to say thst humans are only peaceful. But to challenge Hobbessian understanding of human nature which was articulated in an environment where war had become so common that it became part of their daily life. Hobbess also wrote that book while he was in exile due to a brutal civil war. So we can understand and imagine what he must be thinking about the world around him.
That's the point.

Wish the video was just in English... a little hard to follow
Please talk about this thing in Islamic history? Why our scientists were doing things without having military perspective in mind?
If u can in future videos talk only In English, bcz i don't understand the Pakistani language, God bless u
I like your what you do But really need to work on your story telling and oration skills!
Ignore this comment please Shershah. We don't need an affected bombastic style but meaningful thought presented intelligently and sincerely.
@@hmul3399 This comment is not out of hate Man. I love people like him. I want him to have good audience. If he fixes his presentation skills he can have a big audience. that's all i wanted to say
