Coming back to this notification on my UA-cam account I realized how much y’all taught me how to skate board and now I’m racing cars, sparked a passion for going fast, thank y’all and don’t worry I haven’t completely abandoned my board!
Love hearing the business side of opening the skatepark . As a small business owner I appreciate the details of the behind the scenes. Also his advice on expecting to spend double, and having the right team/negotiators is some of the most necessary advice for business
The owner seemed absolutely rad to the max. This is honestly every teenagers dream to learn the fundamentals to skate. Just blown away how awesome this is & the owner great stuff
Great video, back in college I had to write up a proposal for class, I wrote one on how to get a skate park in my community. We got one the following year a basic metal park, back in 2003. Now we have an indoor park our town is less than 7,000 people.
I love these small parks! I wish my town had something like this when I was a kid and started skating. I would have been so much better way faster. These parks are just perfect and learning. especially for grinds and handrails.
JD with the ender, whole squad went and tore it up. You did a great thing Rob, it's awesome to know that many new skaters will get their chance to hone their craft!
Back in the day, we used to have an indoor skatepark in the basement of West 49's flagship store in West Edmonton Mall. It's a distant memory now, but was pretty cool while it lasted!
Would LOVE to see one of these in the American Dream Mall in NJ. Session Big Snow for snowboarding then session Rob Skate Academy, you could even surf in the morning. The trifecta!
I grew up in south jersey in the 90s/00s we had Vans skatepark at the Moorestown mall and Woodward at Franklin Mills mall. Both parks are closed now but were some of the best and most diverse parks of their day.
We had a full blown Woodward in Grapevine Mills Mall here in Texas when I was a kid. But sadly it doesn't exist anymore. I have a prominent memorie of wearing my H.I.M. collab Adios? I believe and they were jamming fall out boy when I was learning how to ollie on banks.
The changes Sunvalley Mall has gone through over the years. Dang. No more movie theater. No more ice skating rink. No more pet store. Plane crash in 1985. I grew up shopping at the mall then ended up working at Cinnabon for a few years then came back a decade later as Mall Security. As soon as I saw the parking lot I knew it was SV Mall and exactly where on the property you were. lol
This was great and the vibe was special 😎👌 this had a completely different feel to it(almost reminded me of Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, lije an 80's early 90's vibe of skating in a mall, also the original THPS 👏)so cool. Love braille ❤
@@bakedkalechips69 I wrote great mall like everyone would know where it’s at. It was in Milpitas, CA. I would rush there almost every night in my mid 20s after work and skate til it closed. Cheers my man
That's pretty dope. I kinda miss the buffet tho but it this is cool to see. It's gonna get pretty loud in that section of the mall. Hopefully it attracts people to come back to Sunvalley.
This looks incredible we have a bunch of malls going out of business here one of them is turning into a pickleball complex might be some opportunities for a long term low rent lease to start one of these if Robs Skate Academy will franchise............. Main thing that bums me out w my local is that the banks and quarters are short but steep. The street section is tight and the snake run and the bowl are gnarly as. I'm 27 getting g back on my board after about 12 years off, so I definitely love the beginner level features because I can't really risk big injuries what with work and family and all that. Love you guys. This park looks absolutely mint
You should put taller pads on all of the support columns since they aren't for skating anyway. They might protect you from additional liability, and the existing pad is too short to prevent a head hit.
makes me miss Vans skatepark inside great mall milpitas. had 3 street sections, 2 bowls, a full sized half pipe ( Steve Cab would be there often) an outside concrete area with quarter pipes kickers and a spine, and a mini ramp and a wave to quarter pipe. i had a membership for like 3 years in a row. included a full skate shop arcade , lockers and couch to chill on between or after sessions.
Ngl this would have been a dream come true when I was a kid my mom was always at the mall and it was one of the few places I could go by myself so this would have been so awesome also living in Portland it rains a lot so anything indoors is rad.
Best mall skatepark of all time was Woodward inside of sugar loaf mills in Georgia. It closed down sadly after a lawsuit I miss it so much. Went to summer camp there
Wish I had one of these near me, just a lil bigger though. Those obstacles were tiny. I'm new, 5 weeks in right now, and can drop in to bigger half pipes than that for sure. I'm sure it's still helpful for learning but you need various sizes all in one place so you can play around. That's one way you get better. Theres a park near me with half pipes that are way too big, but I still roll in off the hip and see how far up i can roll up them. One day I'll get it, I can already tell. Keep at it everybody, confidence is 99% of the battle
Only thing that I could say would make it better to learn on is having those rail cappers that primitive has - A square rail that slides over and locks on to round rails. SUPER easy to use. ALSO- Aint nothing wrong with the mall grab.
You guys gotta come to buffalo New York! We just got a new park in the McKinley mall called food court skatepark! Would love for you guys to check it out!
bro WHAT, this is my local mall and back before the pandemic there was a hibachi restaurant here ( atleast i think so ive never eaten there) but it was closing down so me and the homies would sneak in, play music and doordash hella food there, we called it the club
Kinda surprised that everyone wasn't doing a mall grab walking in, but knew Gabe wouldn't disappoint.

Welcome back! Glad you are still skating.
You still skating?
Huge props to Rob. I feel like Aaron would love this park. Also, it's great to see Ricky being able to session again!
Love hearing the business side of opening the skatepark .

I will never get tired of seeing Nigel’s pop shuvs. Absolutely beautiful
Nigel's foot work always has me going back and rewatching it. He is just flawless when he nails a trick.
one of the most underrated skaters in my opinion
This should be in every mall
true
Shoutout to Nigel and Rob and the whole team for building that skatepark!! You guys and the braille team really bringing skateboarding forward❤

Idea. When you do the "best skatepark" videos, what if you played a game of skate where every obstacle is a letter? That would be cool.
I hope that everyone is having a great Summer so far this year.
Woah! Dude, I used to go to this mall as a kid! There didn't used to be a skatepark there, it used to be a buffet! Crazy!
Rob is awesome. Seems like he genuinely cares and wants to be of service to the skate community.
Rob needs a Nine Club episode!!!!
Nigel's skate academy looks like a great place for beginners. Also, every lodge and rail looks super buttery and perfect
Back in the day, we used to have an indoor skatepark in the basement of West 49's flagship store in West Edmonton Mall. It's a distant memory now, but was pretty cool while it lasted!
Wow, really impressive that Nigel designed, financed and built this entire place by himself, that guy can really do anything.
i love these beginner friendly parks, unfourtnantly my local is aimed towards pros 😭
Same 😭
Yeah, I don't know why they fill parks with huge features that the average skater can't do. There needs to be a balance.
@@Adam-M-you find the balance in the street n then once you've figured it out tear up the park (atleast that's how I navigated that)
JD and Nigel's progession is actually insane.
Would LOVE to see one of these in the American Dream Mall in NJ. Session Big Snow for snowboarding then session Rob Skate Academy, you could even surf in the morning. The trifecta!

This is so sick. Thanks ROB for all you've done. And great job, guys, on the team back to back down rail line!

Really cool to see some behind the scenes bits with Rob and those plans and permits. Don’t see that that often.
I live so close to here was hyped to see it open up i watched them build it over a few weeks thru the windows
rob skatepark facilities are like a goal to me !!!! indoor structures in shopping mall here in France let's go

We need one of these in Memphis Rob! Get the youth out of the streets and into something productive!
Dope I really hope this place stays around.
i hope he goes nationwide that park looks awesome
That old vans park at the great mall was fun. Rip
There used to be one at Ontario Mills in California also. I used to go all the time when I was younger. Rip

i dont skate anymore but this one was funt o watch everyone going all out. need more content likethis

First... iv been waiting for a skatepark review, bruh the best intro ever
Hahaha thanks
@@brailleskateboarding your welcome... this video was great by the way
NGL the tricks sound amazing in there when they were all going off the three stair it was like asmr heaven
That place looks super fun! And that was indeed a legit mall grab. 😂
Maybe one day y’all will make it out to Fort Collins CO. We have so many parks out here.
Grand Rapids, MI used to have a massive skatepark inside their mall, even an inground concrete bowl and a vert ramp
The boys were cookin on that three stair and rail. Yuhhhhhhh
You should put taller pads on all of the support columns since they aren't for skating anyway. They might protect you from additional liability, and the existing pad is too short to prevent a head hit.
Didnt see any pads on any column.
liKed just for Nigel landing those tricks on call

That looks like so much fun! : ) I wish I was near I would start skateboarding again!
dude i always flinch when the edit comes when a new scene starts. this freaking sound man xD
JD is a little beast.
I remember when I was living in Jersey back in 08, there was an indoor park at one of their malls.
Yall should teach JD the WORD to get camera. He needs to capture the crazy. He could just say YOO! and snap the camera at the dude. Hes insane!
that’s a perfect park for beginners
I'd love to see a beginner's skate park in NW Arkansas. I'm trying to learn how, but it's hard when there isn't someone with experience there to help
I love how nigel is doing big things for skateboarding
Man I would have loved something like this when I was younger!
17:53 Nigels late flips are siick!!
Ooo! Hey, a indoor skatepark might work at Hilltop Mall. There is certainly open space anyways.
Just about to head to the park but braille comes first!!!
Have a great skate sesh!
That spot used to be a buffet! I remember my family taking me to eat out there when I came back from deployment lmao
Paved paradise to skate at a shopping mall.
first a plane falls on santa claus at the sun valley mall, and now they have a skate park!
This is so awesome! I wish we had one of these here in Berlin!
Really cool
You should fly out and do the one in Buffalo... or even better, get Braille skateparks in Simon Properties and malls across the country!!
Ngl this would have been a dream come true when I was a kid my mom was always at the mall and it was one of the few places I could go by myself so this would have been so awesome also living in Portland it rains a lot so anything indoors is rad.
JD killed that sesh
that mallgrab was from the heart
Makes me miss the old Vans skatepark at the great mall in Milpitas
we need indoor parks in long island/new york city SOOOO BADDDDD!!!!
cool park, I see a broken tv or shattered glass wall in the near future (which is also cool)
If your from az and know about Vans skate park which is no longer but it was in a mall and it was sick. With fast forward skate shop in it.
Best mall skatepark of all time was Woodward inside of sugar loaf mills in Georgia. It closed down sadly after a lawsuit I miss it so much. Went to summer camp there
JD's skills are insane

as a 6 foot tall grown man that mini ramp is a dream obstacle for me
Hands up who only played Tony Hawk Pro Skater and the best you could do is an Ollie but skateboarding is something you would LOVE to be able to do!
JD is amazing.

ALSO-
Aint nothing wrong with the mall grab.
That looks like a lot of fun
Our mall has a skatepark in it now called the food court and it has a bowl in it and it's a nice looking concrete indoor park
That front shut late flip was insane first try
Come to the food Court Skatepark in the McKinley Mall in Buffalo NY it opened in July of last year
should def think bout indoor park at Chico ca this town needs it
YOOOOOO, Robs Skate sunvalley rules!
Yes
Awesome definitely would like to have one of them near me🔥🔥
With the deaths of malls all around the USA, I'm honestly surprised there aren't a lot more mall skateparks.
yall taught me what skating is💓
Rob the homies in Sacramento need a one
Go to smalltown malls and build small parks like these, bet you got some money coming in.
The people behind Rob Skate academy seemingly have magical money and no urgency behind them to create a return. In other words, I wish I was them.
You guys gotta come to buffalo New York! We just got a new park in the McKinley mall called food court skatepark! Would love for you guys to check it out!
I love this park!!!
bro WHAT, this is my local mall and back before the pandemic there was a hibachi restaurant here ( atleast i think so ive never eaten there) but it was closing down so me and the homies would sneak in, play music and doordash hella food there, we called it the club

Very nice skating in the new skatepark
Come to the Foodcourt Skatepark in the McKinley Mall in Hamburg NY
