Once a family of 4 came and set up a picnic on top on the main ramp at the park and the kids left their bike/scooter in the middle, on the flat ground. It wasn’t a big park at all, but the worst part is, they left all their rubbish and leftovers there.
skatepark story: I went to a skatepark with my friend (I ride bmx) and some other bike rider came up to me and gave me a few tips about how to ride in the bowl. The next day when I went back to the skate park, another pro bmx rider taught me how to jump a gap. It goes to show how nice the bmx society can be. Edit: the same guy taught me to get my bunny hop higher and I can now jump a cone.
When I go to my local park which we call the top park, I bring my bike to start having some fun on the skatepark, I only have one issue with my bike, ITS A MOUNTAIN BIKE NOT A BMX BIKE. I also tend to encounter a lot of people on scooters using the big ramps that I ride ACROSS so I just go from the left of the ramp to the right. I am also not skilled enough to ride on the smaller ramps. Edit: I normally ride from the left of the ramp to the right when there is nobody on scooters,
2 Asian guys in their 40s have started running skateboard lessons at my local skatepark in Sydney. They come everyday between 3 and 6 with around 15/20 Asian kids. They block up the whole park and sit on the ramps with no ettikate. The 2 older guys are making money and feels like screw everyone else and is mega selfish and annoying. What can we do about it?
Just skate. If I see people parking their ass in some part of the park I just yell, coming thru, before going that direction. You could also join the lessons. It ‘s a public park so you can go where ever you want.
Same... I have a BMX park in my town and there is a pump track and I love to ride it. BUT there are alot of parents who let they're little fu**ing kids run aroud it by foot. just pisses me off honestly... ALSO when they learn how to ride a bike on the pump track and they are SOOO slow and there is literaly a pump track for little kids next to it... WHY DO THEY DO THIS
skatepark story: So I went to a skatepark one time and saw a roller blader a skateboarder and a scooter rider and they were all hanging out and giving tips. I think it was just nice to see different riders getting along and hanging out together
I am an inline skater. Last year I discovered skateparks. I visited a dozen skateparks and even uploaded a few videos. No one has ever given me nasty looks. In fact I am always warmly welcome and greeted. I think if one shows up with a good attitude and with proper respect for the facility and community, it does not matter what types of wheels they skate on.
Skatepark story: one of my first times going to the skatepark, I had finally learned how to roll into one of the bigger bowls there. There was a kid going the other way, and he happened to slip out as I was coming near him. I asked if he was okay, and he nodded and went back to the top of the bowl. His parents were giving me death glares for the rest of the session, even though he was fine. Message to parents of young skaters: If you think your child isn't going to get hurt at all, think again. It's just a part of skating. And if your child does get hurt, don't just blame it on the nearest other person.
Yuppp. Im in my mid thirties and childless. It is genuinely appalling how many people think their children grant them full authority over any other human within spitting distance.
@@Editzz847yep. Modern parents who think their kids should be free of any ethics ór boundaries are the main problem. I remember a couple bringing their feral brats into our shop and then walking out in a huff because I politely asked them to stop their little brat from flooding our show room. He was standing there with his hand on the tap of the water fountain while the water poured out onto the floor. I said, hey little buddy, please don't do that and the parents cracked the shits saying how dare I speak negatively to their kid and that they would not be spending their money with us. I said fair enough, I don't need to deal with rude people, see you later😊.I told my boss and he backed me 100% as he always did when we were doing the right thing. Our neighbours expected me to chain my German Shepherd up because apparently it scared his kids while they were playing in our yard after I'd told him to keep them out. Up until then I didn't have any issue with them. The little turd came over to the kitchen window poking his tounge out at me until I let Jedda out. She just wanted to play and get cuddles and I knew that but he took off. Fancy thinking you control your neighbours yard Some parents seem to think the world revolves around them, sometimes it's good to remind them it doesn't. Growing up if we got hurt doing something stupid like getting in the way my parents would say, well that's a good lesson, bet you don't do that again rather than expecting the world to baby us 😊
So I’m a rollerblader, I’ve been rollerblading for over 6 years and even though I almost never snake ppl (At least not on purpose) and follow park etiquette, a lot of skate boarders are always aggressive towards me. I usually don’t wax the ramps and stuff unless there’s no one else in the park. It’s sad how rollerbladers are treated by other just cuz we don’t do skateboarding like them. I’m my experience, a lot of skateboarders constantly snake me, it’s annoying.
Rollerblading is still a type of skating. So 🤷🏽♂️ they shouldn’t complain. I’m someone who’s going to be learning how to rollerblade for the first time this year. I really want to get good enough one day to try out a skatepark cause it seems fun. Hearing shit like this is annoying cause it makes me already feel like I am going to have an awkward experience having to deal with people and their judgement.
Tbh I was complaining to myself when this dude pulled up with rollerblades yesterday until he started busting out crazy tricks and shit. He was a cool guy, totally respectful, no snaking, etc. I felt like an asshole
I'm from the uk and anyone not on some type of skate should be banned from the skate park no scooter or bikes ect and ban small children I'm sure this is the same all over wherever you live
One time at a skatepark it was totally empty, and this really nice lady took her time to cover up the bad or inappropriate graffiti, and I just had to say thank you to that nice lady.
I can’t speak on aggressive incline, however the rivalry goes both ways, skaters think shooters get in the way and shooters think skater get in the way. Both are true. However in almost every case it is the person not the activity. Same with BMX other then the damage and bigger space the bike takes up.
my list that's a very abbreviated version of yours: 1. Children on scooters/pushbikes 2. Karens/Kevins 3. people that get in the way 4. parents who think they have priority 5. people who think the skate park is a cool place to hang out and smoke 6. vandalisers 7. Zach (i know you're out there somewhere you silly little boy) 8. people who think they own the skate park and have priority
Skatepark story: young kid came up to us and said he was a ninja and was running around the park and he kept saying he could beat me up. It was strange.
As a rollerblader I always follow park etiquette and I never wax anything. Certain grinds suffer for it but I know people generally don't like it. What annoys me is when skateboarders start hating or having prejudice against me for rollerblading when they don't know anything about me. If they took the time they would find that we share a lot in common. Besides the fact that I also skateboard.
The only (valid) reason I think they could dislike you is that reading the movement of a rollerblader/BMXer to avoid snaking is like speaking a different language when compared to reading skateboarders.
On Halloween, an amputee in a light up wheelchair was chilling at the skatepark with everyone. We had like bike cranks to move the wheelchair so he was getting pretty good arm exercise and he wasn't in the way. He was pretty chill
Reminds me how my older brother is fundraising to get the skatepark upgraded, mainly because a lot of random kids decide to climb the halfpipe and destroy it ffs. He's putting all his effort into it and apparently "is fighting the urge to not deck those kids"
someone in my city decided that it would be an absolutely great idea to build a skatepark right across the street from an elementary school. I'm sure you can figure out the rest of the story...
thank you SO MUCH for specifying that it isnt ALL SCOOTER RIDERS, but just the annoying kids who get in the way. I am a scooter rider, and yes, like everyone, occasionally accidentally snake someone. But the scooter community also hates the little snakes, and my local park has a playground RIGHT NEXT TO IT, but the parents and even SUMMER CAMPS decide to raid the skate park.
I’m not saying that little kids don’t get in the way, but if any skater grabbed my kid or trashed his scooter, he’s going to be doing half pipes in heaven.
@@man12_game I hope you’re right I’m just responding to what I saw in the video. To be fair, I’ve taken my kids to the skate park numerous times and the other skaters were very polite.
Skate park story: I was skating and I went up a ramp and I slipped. Two people grabbed me and helped me not fall. I was probably 8. If I fell I definitely would of broke an arm. That shows how nice people can be.
I used to go to this really cool place (I’m a roller skater) which is a cleared out grocery store with ramps and stuff (a Sainsbury’s cause I’m bri’ish 🇬🇧) but I don’t really go there anymore because THE AMOUNT OF SCOOTER KIDS DROVE ME INSANE. for example, me and my friends would just be practicing on a half-pipe and then kids would RUN THROUGH THE CENTRE OF IT. Keep in mind, you can very easily go around and also just in general, the amount of times I have been cut off by kids, or seen kids going around the wrong way, or kids falling over in front of me is too many times to count. The place I went to is made for roller skaters but scooters and skateboards can go there too but I have also seen wheelchairs and even once saw a mother walking around with a BABY STROLLER. I seriously think they should add an age requirement because those places are dangerous for kids under the age of 8. Speaking of kids, they have no concept of self awareness and will go right in front of a speeding skater. I COULD GO ON AND ON COMPLAINING BUT I WOULD BE HERE ALL DAY.
I am pretty sure skate parks arent exclusive to skateboards, its just their name. People riding scooters etc are fine by me as long as they have etiquette, what really grinds my gears is abnoxious people who annoy others and are inconsiderate, and yes, that includes the skaters you mentioned getting pissed at scooters and the like.
Some actually are skateboard specific and will have signs "no bikes etc.." I have been told it's an insurance thing, they are insured specifically for skateboarding.
Skatepark story: I went to he skatepark and saw loads of 5 year olds playing on the quarter pipes like they are slides. I asked them to move multiple times and even once they did move, their parents didn't, they were literally sat on a ledge chatting.
@ItzAkiro lucky I live in greenville home of box so skate parks are hot spots for all sorts of people but mostly people makeing stupid tik told and blocking ramp
I used to skate back when I was a teenager and I was super into it, went on to bmx and now I'm mountain biking and I cannot imagine dumb kids running around and playing on the trails or people blocking the trail because they're making an edgy tiktok or whatever. Props to you skaters for dealing with this nonsense.
wow, that sounds infinitely more dangerous than running around a skatepark I can just imagine somebody taking a selfie in the bike trail, only to get absolutely annihilated by a biker that rounds the corner going 30 MPH
@@hahahahahaha2366 that happend to me once There was one person with a Bike from the Bikepark that just decided to do some weird tiktok shit (he was dancing) on a big jump behind a corner I crashed right into him. Nothing major haöpemd but still And he was pissed af but that was not my Problem
There *must* be rules in skateparks saying "If you do not use/have your wheels, leave", "Enter on your own risk, you may get in the way of skaters and might get hurt", "If you're here to complain about the skaters skating, leave. This is a skatepark, not the managers office KAREN", "This is a skatepark, not a playground. Do not leave your kids here", and "Have skating etiquette and dont be in peoples way"
I’m a rollerskater (quads) and one thing to note is how genuinely terrifying it is to rollerskate at skateparks- most of the time, you are the only rollerskater. I have taken the time to learn skate park etiquette but the reason many rollerskaters don’t is because there aren’t many other rollerskaters at parks due to them being scared of getting weird looks, etc and therefore avoiding skateparks so many don’t even know there is such thing
Ikr! Roller skating at skate parks is soo hard. I don’t understand how (even tho I can skate backwards normally) I can’t skate backwards down the ramps. Being the only roller skater there is also really embarrassing 😭😭
@@sonicmoker-16 literally sameee people stare at me as I skate by and when I’m in the skate park in awe. Has nobody ever seen a roller skater before or something??
i roller-skate and skateboard. I find them both fun but if i’m honest, it is a bit annoying to see them at a skatepark since they could just go to a skating session somewhere like a hall. However! I know sometimes they’re not free but it is still a bit annoying, most of the people that roller-skate/blade are pretty nice though. Atleast some of them are good!
As a roller blader, my experience with skate parks is that the skate boarders just are so aggressive towards me when I’m just doing my own thing when I’m literally out of their way. I don’t wax or anything, it’s just annoying cause I’ve lost confidence to even go to a skatepark now :/
yeah some skateboarders have a superiority complex, there is to some extent the same vibe in this video. Many skateparks are not just meant for skateboarders, unless it specifically says so, other sports like inline skaters or bikers should be able to use them too.
Yikes I’m roller skating and I’ve been wanting to head to a skate park near my area but this is the exact reason why I’m nervous to, I’m good but I’m a very passive person so I worry that situations similar to this will happen
Bro the blading part was completely false, this guys probably thinking he’s superior bc he’s a skateboarder, also I’ve never used wax a skatepark either.
As a BMXer I can confirm that our pegs do damage ramps, but it's really heartwarming to see skaters are so considerate. If I wouldn't be a BMXer I would probably be a skater. You guys are so chill and nice!
In my area, which is lucky to have a number of skate parks, and more being built, they've made a number of rules to try to mitigate this stuff. R/C cars and anything else with a motor, are all explicitly banned. I had never really thought about it, until I saw the signs at the parks.
As somebody who does parkour myself i think parkourers should stay away from skateparks in general. not just because "it's a skatepark so skaters should be the only ones" but also because we have a lot more freedom when it comes to spots
Yeh i agree i also do parkour. Like me and my friend found a great stair way it goes from left to right so you can jump and climb there pretty good but then he sayed lets parkour at the skatepark. So i basically sayed ''ill rather go on roofs then going to a skatepark'' i dont go on roofs but i would rather do it.
I used to run the gambit (back before I got all old and my joints started to hurt and I got lazy), doing parkour, skating, rollerblading, longboarding, etc., and I totally agree. While skate parks can be fun, and a lot of the time (even though it's not typically illegal) you DO get hassled by security or police for doing parkour for a variety of reasons, but the sheer number of locations you can free run, the fact that you don't have to haul a board around that signals what you plan to do, and that skaters have so much trouble getting spaces of their own makes me generally against parkour in skate parks. If no one else is there (I've done most of my free running at night anyway, when it's too dark to skate safely) then it's no big deal, but if anyone's trying to practice, get some lines in, or whatever then let them have the space. Skaters need that space significantly more than free runners do.
I really disagree with ostracising types of skaters that are not on boards. Im a skate boarder and I see roller skaters and scooters are as much a part of the skating community as us. It's really important to be inclusive and although you specified that its not ALL of them it still sounds like skate borders are superior and tbf we don't own the parks.
Amen. Inline skaters have a long history with skate park. Why on earth can’t inline skaters use skateparks? The issue is not what type of device you wheel with. The issue is people respecting the facility and the culture.
I was in a car, driving past my local skate park, and I literally could only see 1 skateboarder in a sea of scooters, and the skateboarder was just trying to learn how to skate, while the scooters were constantly in his way. Really frustrating when it is indeed a “skate park” not a “scooter park”
I just started aggressive inline, and i gotta say, trying to learn with skateboarders yelling insults at you all the time gets old fast. that being said, although common, theres a decent percentage of skateboarders (usually older) that are excited to see rollers again after so long. its really only the posers that cant handle a little wax that complain ;)
Had to laugh when Rollerbladers were mentioned. Maybe if Skateboarders were any good then the Wax wouldn't be a problem and on the snaking nothing worse than a Skateboard snaking you without someone one it 😂 😂 😂 just saying 🤷♂️🤷♂️
While I can definitely agree that some of these are quite annoying, people practising other sports besides skateboarding are simply using the skatepark "as intended". The thesis that somehow scooters or inline skates are not "skating" and that the skatepark isn't made for them is kind of a self centric way of looking at things. BMX I will give you, but mostly because skating with them is genuinely terrifying sometimes (massive metal frames that if they hit you could seriously injure you). Even then, it's honestly fine and it's better that everyone just feels welcome!
Story: I ride scooter and am a local to my park, some kids were playing on the pyramid in the bowl. I would try to go to another spot in the bowl but they would follow.i was getting sick of it so I waited till they were sitting on the pyramid and went around the bowl and jumped over the pyramid (and them). Here comes the best part, one kid after being jumped 4ft over had the audacity to say "you shouldn't get in the way"
I’ve been rollerskating for two years and my brother has been skateboarding for five and our dad used to skate too. I was always told a lot about skateboarding culture and on the way to my first time going to a park my brother taught me everything I needed to know about the etiquette. I’ve made some of my best friends who aren’t even roller skaters at parks
Story: Me and some people I knew went to a skatepark for a few hours and in that time there was a large group of kids. We were all waiting to ride and whenever we did we just got snaked. We started to tell them to move out of the way then thier parents started shouting at us. We old them we were telling them to move so we didn’t hit them. They continued to complain until they left. It just shows how little parents know
@@bmaxime8771but that’s exactly what discourages kids to learn new things like skating. For example when I was a little kid I always wanted to learn ice skating but of course your balance isn’t really that good yet, you can’t really break and have to rely on the ice rink to stop you. My parents took me a couple of times but whenever I was there it always ended with me crying because I was either pushed over or almost run over a couple of times because older and more skilled people would skate super carelessly and purposely not pay attention where they’re going or would always do these sharp breaks right in front of me. It really took all the joy out of it for me and made me afraid of ice skating. I think If we all pay attention to one another we can create an environment that’s fun for everyone. Of course annoying Karen parents are a problem but always remember it’s not the kid‘s fault and that If the kids are actually skating they’re maybe just trying to learn.
One of the worst things I’ve seen at skateparks were parents having a picnic on a bench in the street section that had a sign on it saying it isn’t made to be sat on and it is against the rules
Fun story: I once went to a push park in Northern Ireland, where I live, it was an outdoor one and was totally free to enter. And one day when I was there some “very smart” little roadman decided it would be a good idea to bring his ELECTRIC scooter to the PUSH PARK, a park that completely functions on kinetic movement. He got in the way of so many people as the bottom of the scooter kept dragging across the top of a hump and then he’d freak out cuz he thought he broke his scooter. Never have I hated where I live more
As a bmx rider, I can see why people would get upset over damage to a park, but I think its blown way out of proportion. Most bmx riders use plastic pegs nowadays, which cause no damage. Even those who ride metal pegs (myself included) don't cause as much damage as people say we do. grinding on coping with metal pegs does no damage at all, because the pegs are sliding on the coping the same way a skateboard would. same thing goes for ledges with angle iron on them. When it comes to concrete ledges, bikers with metal pegs cant grind on them well without flipping the bars, so they normally wont. Riders with plastics pegs do, but since the pegs they use are plastic, no damage is caused. I've seen just as much damage done from skateboards as well as bmx riders. Anything concrete in a skatepark is eventually going to get chipped and damaged, and sometimes a bike does that one grind that finally chips it, but sometimes a skateboard is the one to do it. Skateparks are also funded by bmx riders as well as skateboarders, so both have a right to be there using the ledges, regardless of the potential damage. No biker is intentionally chipping ledges, same as how no skater is. Luckily, Skaters and bmx riders have gotten along well together, because both are respectful of the park, and each other. Some people get overly angry at the thought of letting a bike into a skatepark, but the vast majority of people don't care, cause at the end of the day, we're all there doing the same thing.
I dont do BMX, I am on the skate side. But I think it's the same thing as like why any group gets hate and assumed as bad. When I lived in New Orleans a lot of the parks there were old and not good. All the wear over the years made metal pegs damage it a lot worse than it would otherwise. Now that I live near nicer parks I dont see that issue and I've definitely noticed a lot less metal megs when I do see a bmx rider. The other issue is a few to many people have been snaked by bikes. Because the bike is so big it makes it easier to get mad I think. I never have a problem with bmx riders nowadays except the occasional snaking but that happens with Scooter Kids and just less experienced Skaters too. Now I mainly just street skate to avoid it. Honestly, you just do you and if someone gives you crap about it just understand it's really just them being dumb or trying to fit in. I hope you quickly nail whatever trick or thing you're currently working on and have a great day homie.
Skate story: I was at the skate park and this kid snaked me and I got mad at him so he started to try and eat my skate board know there is bite marks in my new deck
As an inline skater and (learning) rollerskater I often avoid the skate parks cause of the fear of getting stares or accidentally getting in the way of people (and maybe also because that the skatepark that's nearest to me is made out of completely metal and you literally have no grip on it) Although I'd love to learn tricks with my inline skates (And when I can rollerskate better with those too) I just don't want stares or people getting mad at me
My favorite time is when a parent decides it's a great idea to carry their screaming 3 year old wearing Fisher price roller skates over to the deep end of the bowl in the skate park and drops them in right after you drop in and are heading full beans into the deep end... Great fun 😱
there was this group of roller bladers who were first really good an also very polite and they let me and my friend go before them, i dont have a problem with them if they arent being annoying
i do agressive skating and we do try not to snake people but i cant just jump off my rollerblades so sometimes to avoid getting hurt i have to do so. :)
I’m just a kid, 10 yr old here I have a skatepark near my house and there’s a rules that kids should wear protection if they’re gonna play with their skateboard/ scooters but if they’re just gonna play I always say GET OUT OF THE WAY, and I yell to the kids parents GET UR KID OUT OF THE WAY U DORK R U STUPID OR SMTHING that the mayor put a new rule that no kid with intentions of playing in here without a skateboard/scooter/bike/etc are allowed on the skate park
at my local park, skateboarders, scooter riders, and me (basically the only rollerblader) are actually really nice to each other. i understand the conflicts you are talking about, but i have personally never seen it aside from the younger side of scooter riders who snake everyone.
As someone looking from the outside (don't ask why I'm watching skate videos, I don't know) it's so strange to hear that people in the skate community will treat others differently depending on what they choose to ride
I’ve only been to a skate park twice, both on rollerblades. Even if some of the skaters don’t understand how they work, they still try to make me feel welcome and try to help me learn what certain ramps can be used for! Such an awesome vibe
Mu dad would skate and when i was younger he would teach me to skate or I'd play on the ramps, but we always made sure no one was around or stayed out of the way:)
7:57 “So if someone got hit by one, it could definitely be a problem” Long story short, I was playing with my friend and jumped off a hill and a RC CAR hit me and flipped me upside down and I broke my arm. He was not lying.
I take my kids to the skate park, they love watching guys skate and bike. I think if kids are in the way it’s not the kids fault it’s the parents. I’m always making sure my kids are not in anyones way. Just teach your kids to watch out for others.
As a scooter rider, I apologise on behalf of the scooter community for little kids on scooters. Most of us are older and have some amount of brain/common sense to not get in the way of people on a skateboard, rollerbladers, and bikers, and when we do, most of us apologise and move on, we don’t want to cause a scene.
I was in the pump track yesterday on my scooter there was a dumb 4 y/o kid he said when i throwed my scooter to not ride over him and broke his bones that im bad at riding a scooter bro is riding a mini bike with 4 wheels 💀 he said once i used my airpords that he will follow me riding like wtf i cant ride like this💀
I remember being g a kid maybe about 7, I had been Rollerbladeing for a few years and was ready to try to learn how to do do park tricks on my blades and within 5 minutes a bunch of skaters came and yelled at me for being on the skatepark and I just completely gave up roller blading after that point
same happened with me skateparks are really toxic and thats why i dont really skate anymore, especially not at skateparks anyways, everyone just has to complain at you for trying to skate, like sorry i dont have much experience and trying to learn!
I've been bmxing since the 80s so back then we really weren't accepted. Skateparks should be built to handle the punishment of BMX, they've had 40 years to realise this. We've all got to share the space and respect each other, parents and little kids are a problem. I often just warn them about the physical danger that they are in. Some of my kids bmx, some skate, I've taught them to be really aware of where Everyone is and what they're doing to avoid conflict and collisions.
This happened TODAY at my local skatepark. These scooter kids (like myself) were pushing this shopping cart down the 8 foot ramp and drooping it into the skatepark and nearly hit my autistic little brother
my parents were the annoying skatepark parents sad to say. Even at the young age of 8 I knew my mom sitting on a ledge was causing problems and it embarrassed the hell out of me. It's why I didn't properly learn to skate until I was in my late teens
I’m not even a skateboarder, but here in Vienna when I go cycling in the city I often see those annoying little kids at skater parks just running around ignoring the actual skateboarders (until something bad happens) and it always makes me angry cause their parents never do anything about it
I'm glad this video mentions that a lot of times its not roller-skaters/blades fault when they snake people. I'm a long time derby skater, and I just happened to come across the skatepark a year back. Where I'm from, I often receive angry glares and annoyance literally right when I show up to any park in the area (even if I didn't started skating yet)
One time I was on the sidewalk skating and I saw a scooter person do the greatest trick. My man hopped off thr schooler came back on mid air and did a 180 all on a 4 inch curb. Not annoying just impressive. Dude, I gotta add this, I skate with a hoodie and jeans on in 100 degree weather
As a rollerblader we don't snake nearly as much as any other sport. The large majority of us are grown adults that completely understand skatepark etiquette. Skateboarders themselves are the ones that are snaking each other constantly but they never want to talk about that. We also don't have to deal with posers because we have little too none of them.
Skatepark story: My sister and I went to the skatepark (with our friend) to hang around with our bikes and skateboards, and two like 6th graders went up to us and started straight up throwing rocks and acting dumb, so no reason?? And guess what they had: scooters. I'm not joking, I don't know what scooter kids will be thinking, and yeah, I called my mom to come to pick us up, and that was fun 😬😬
My local park got shut down years ago due to drug deals and someone getting stabbed and another guy getting shot. Both were separate occasions but the skate park was near a t-ball field so for the safety of the kids the park had to go apparently.
As a MTBer I feel your pain since I enjoy two things outdoors Mountain biking, and going to parks. Now the issue is, kids seem to feel as though a normal park should be free space for them to vandalise and build jumps and bike tracks on and older people seem to think mtb parks are a perfect place to relax. Now if a skateboard was to hit someone at a skate park it would hurt both parties, but if a mountain bike was to hit someone going way faster and the rider usually having decent ppe on and a bike that costs more then their car, that would end a *lot* worse.
It would be fun to do one of these videos about mtb. I don't think there's as much fodder, but there's plenty of annoying people on the trails who have no respect for the established purpose for said trails, or the people utilizing them for said purpose.
I've been there! Some unnecessary internet advice: just go. Nobody is going to judge you, they've all been in that situation before. When I went for the first time, someone helped me learn a trick. I hope you do end up going to the skatepark!!
Skatepark story: this is near when im 12 almost turning 13, I rode scooter at the time and I liked going in large bowls and pumptracks, there was a mom and her toddler sitting on an obstacle, the mother is holding her toddler away and tries her best to not make her toddler run amuck in the track, I like going up and down the tracks and still do and at the time i was a quarter to halfway done with the track. Then I do it again and the mother unawarely releases her toddler to run around the pumptrack thinking im outside of the track when i was doing a 180 going back into the track again keep in mind i didnt have any stops that would make the mother let her toddler run around, toddler runs right into the pumptrack right where speed starts to ramp up, toddler runs into me head first and toddler gets hit so far its almost flys out of the small bowl, parent gets mad, cradles child, blames me for not paying attention, I tell the unresponsible mother to be more responsible and not let a 20 pound 4 year old run into whats like a racetrack of jumping and high speeds, proceeds to call police for battery on a child and i talk to the cops and talk my way out of this and the mother looks at me infuriated, And the mother was given a ticket of 800$ for false calling
I went to a skatepark yesterday, just minding my own business doing absolutely nothing wrong and then I see security guards- So I asked them if I’ve done something wrong and they told me to leave the skatepark. I know that a lot of people come there and do stupid things like throwing firecrackers or playing loud music, but I’m not one of them. It kinda sucks how I have a skateboard and now I’m a problem lol
For the bmx peg part, the people who break the concrete just suck at grinding or they’re still learning, your supposed to lean out witch does nothing to the concrete, or atleast get plastic sleeves lol
i do understand being upset with scooter kids snaking skaters, but i had an amazing experience with a scooter adult @ the skatepark. he did a bunch of flip tricks (backflip, frontflip) and was super polite, so i couldn’t help but respect. i feel like parents should bring their kids to a controlled skatepark specifically for children instead of letting them go anywhere in a skatepark.
Little kids are the annoying ones they sit the stuff in the ways and just sit there, a kid litteraly pushed me off the ramp and i snapped my arm, and the karen blamed me😕
@@hannahcashman thats def not okay even for a karen’s kid. if i ever had kids, i’d bring them to an indoor skatepark and we’d leave the second that they decide to act up. i grew up knowing if you cant behave and be respectful, then your privileges will be taken away (like you cant go to the store). i dont know why parents have to be so irresponsible especially at such a dangerous place like a skatepark (for kids).
My skatepark story that's annoying is my skatepark was amazing bit now it's decent because there only 4 small ramps and there's so many children there and there's no bowl they removed it!
I do parkour, and trust me, there's not a place where we can do it without someone complaining about it. I think skateparks can be a nice place for every urban sport, including parkour, as long as everyone respects each other. At the end of the day, we're all little kids messing around and ruining all Karens' lives
When growing up, I love to skateboard but never skateboard in public. I was always scared even when my parents encouraged me to go. The first time when I went I was 7 years old and some yelled at us. After that day I was scared to go out again. When growing up I would always practice in my garage and never told anyone that I skateboard. When I started to mature I started to realize that the world can be harsh on people and one of those people are skateboarders. I still don’t go to skateparks but I practice in driveways or indoor skateparks now. I’m still scared what could happen to me in the outside world, even this stuff happen to me. Even tho I’m on my property police yell at me, indoor parks there is always going to be one annoying kid. When I get to the age of an adult, I wanna make secret skateparks for skateboarder all over the world so we can have our peace. Im an 17 year old now I still have 4 years to go but still I wanna make it best for skateboarders.
Thank you for saying not all scooters are annoying. I am a scooter rider and I am about 11 yoears old and still trying to do a tailwip or bar spins and my local state park is pretty small compared to like Venice or things like that, i do snake a bit accidentally and people get pretty mad at me for a small thing. But just overall thank you for the awesome content
as someone who does bmx, i can understand how the pegs bother people due to it breaking ramps, and on behalf of the community would just like wanna apologize for that we dont like wanna do it but it is involuntary but like legit sorry.
same w rollerbladers, i try to be as respectful as i can and mind my own business doing my tricks but sometimes i have to snake someone, skaters can usually jump off the board, but we cant just pop off our skates, so we need to snake someone to not get hurt, i myself usually prefer getting hurt and have gotten badly injured because of little kids skaters and scooter kids, i prefer not to snake them and get hurt, i apologise it if annoys anyone but we try our best not to do that.
My experience is pretty bad because I was going to a skate park for a while and every single skater was so mean to me so I eventually got scared to go back to the skate park and I stopped skating.
As someone who has been doing parkour and recently got into skating, I can say I only do parkour on obstacles either no one is using or when nobody else is at the park.
OMG. IOnce I swerved to avoid this scooter toddler and got a literal CONCUSSION. The parents just looked at me and walked away with their traumatised little kid as if IT WAS MY FAULT.
7:53 I live near the Lock Haven Skatepark and when it wasn't rebuilt, there was a lot of broken or damaged ramps and a bunch of unwanted trash, makeshift ramps out of wood, McDonalds cups, Dunkin cups, and no one went there due to that and since it got rebuilt, more lively now, more skateboarders, scooter kids, BMXers, and little kids in general and the whole park is done nicely
Skatepark story: one time I was skating and this Karen mom came up to me and started started shouting at me for punching her kid. I had no idea what she was going on about because the only kid at the skatepark looked totally different and I honestly started laughing because this lady was talking absolute bullcrap, I walked off laughing when she finally finished and she came back to talk to me that laughing was rude.
@Dashiel Thorsen-mills they need to ban children from using skateparks as regular parks bruh i literally hate those self centered brats and those karens that think they can do anything
@@2miligrams its just the bad ones, i saw a kid on a scooter who was 4 and was actually doing ramps and had enough common sense not to snake anyone, he dropped into a really deep bowl too which even im scared to do.
I absolutely hate the people at the skatepark that I go to that just smoke on the ledge of the half pipe, they don't even skate, they just sit there. They are just in the way and annoying (There's even a no smoking sign which makes it even worse.)
I was in the park once, and a group of children with their parents came ( the kids around 4 years) and they were always in the way but the moment where it got to much was, when a parent jumped on a grind bar i was jumping on and after i hit him, he complained to me
Skate story: so me and my cousin were at a skate park and there was a bunch of scooter kids and my cousin told the scooter kids parents that there was a park right up the hill and that lady left with her kids.
I try to not get in the way when I scoot at my local skatepark, but sadly most people who scoot in skateparks are annoying and their parents are karens. Luckily my mom is the opposite of a karen. I agree with this comment, since I 've seen younger scooter kids get in the way, thanks for sharing your experience
I happen to be an RC driver myself and I have driving at skateparks, but it pisses me off that people ruin our reputation by being disrespectful, that's why, like you said, they should drive when the parks have little to no people, even though I just think a forest does fine

Once a family of 4 came and set up a picnic on top on the main ramp at the park and the kids left their bike/scooter in the middle, on the flat ground. It wasn’t a big park at all, but the worst part is, they left all their rubbish and leftovers there.
That's so annoying and could be dangerous
Why would you have a panic at a SkatePark? That is just idiotic and no common sense.
I have a similar story but it was a whole ass baseball team sitting in the middle of a park talking about their game
That sounds a bit odd 😂
Did you throw your vehicle of choice to them?
skatepark story: I went to a skatepark with my friend (I ride bmx) and some other bike rider came up to me and gave me a few tips about how to ride in the bowl. The next day when I went back to the skate park, another pro bmx rider taught me how to jump a gap. It goes to show how nice the bmx society can be. Edit: the same guy taught me to get my bunny hop higher and I can now jump a cone.
Last week I was just skateboarding around at a skate park and then this stupid bmx’er started snake me and other people like crazy

Just skate. If I see people parking their ass in some part of the park I just yell, coming thru, before going that direction. You could also join the lessons. It ‘s a public park so you can go where ever you want.

True
Yeh I do parkour and I would never go on a skatepark
I did parkour at a skatepark before, but that’s because it was like midnight and no one was there, made sure to not break anything

While I can definitely agree that some of these are quite annoying, people practising other sports besides skateboarding are simply using the skatepark "as intended". The thesis that somehow scooters or inline skates are not "skating" and that the skatepark isn't made for them is kind of a self centric way of looking at things.

It just shows how little parents know
make one or two fly and they will stop, now i don't even try to avoid them, i go where i go, if they don't move, too bad for them hahaha

Then you picked up a skateboard, right?
I've been bmxing since the 80s so back then we really weren't accepted. Skateparks should be built to handle the punishment of BMX, they've had 40 years to realise this. We've all got to share the space and respect each other, parents and little kids are a problem. I often just warn them about the physical danger that they are in. Some of my kids bmx, some skate, I've taught them to be really aware of where Everyone is and what they're doing to avoid conflict and collisions.

That best thing about being unpopular is that nobody's pretending to be you lol. Rollerbladers can be the best at sudden stops and evasion too.
Nah Rollerbladers snake a lot. I get cut off by them so many times.

Same. It hasn't been closed down yet but there are a bunch of kids that look 13-16 that vape there because they ignore them.
As a MTBer I feel your pain since I enjoy two things outdoors
Mountain biking, and going to parks.

Then I do it again and the mother unawarely releases her toddler to run around the pumptrack thinking im outside of the track when i was doing a 180 going back into the track again keep in mind i didnt have any stops that would make the mother let her toddler run around, toddler runs right into the pumptrack right where speed starts to ramp up, toddler runs into me head first and toddler gets hit so far its almost flys out of the small bowl, parent gets mad, cradles child, blames me for not paying attention, I tell the unresponsible mother to be more responsible and not let a 20 pound 4 year old run into whats like a racetrack of jumping and high speeds, proceeds to call police for battery on a child and i talk to the cops and talk my way out of this and the mother looks at me infuriated, And the mother was given a ticket of 800$ for false calling

i do understand being upset with scooter kids snaking skaters, but i had an amazing experience with a scooter adult @ the skatepark. he did a bunch of flip tricks (backflip, frontflip) and was super polite, so i couldn’t help but respect. i feel like parents should bring their kids to a controlled skatepark specifically for children instead of letting them go anywhere in a skatepark.
