Ok I’m not sure if it was momoko tearing into Riki which was definitely what he deserved 😂 or the ending showing Haoko rooting with that melodramatic music 😂🤣 oh the drama of unrequited love! nice job Karin 💕
5:35 😲 Momoko was letting naughty son Riki have it. ✋ Swack...Pow! 6:12 🤣 Haoko: What in the world is going on over there? 7:40 Last I read on the zoo's website was that Momoko was on "managed medical care" with meds to treat her anemia. The anemia was in a very critical state immediately after Sumomo was born with Momoko extremely weak. She seems to be doing ok now even though she's getting on up there in age. Thanks Karin! 🌹
Sumomo is going to be quite the gorilla 🦍 when she grows up. She’s fearless, will try and take on her older siblings, but lovable at the same time. Very independent little girl. I love her little strength and energy. That’s my kinda girl. 😂😂❤❤ Thanks Karin. 😊
Thank you, Denise, for watching. I agree. Sumomo is such an independent little gorilla. I can't wait to see her grow up into a strong, confident alpha female just like her mother.
It seems like only yesterday Ricky was 5 & now he is 7, I know you don't mess with your momma, when I was first introduced to this troop i thought momoko was cold towards her offspring but the more I watched her,how wrong was I. Haoko love's his wife so much, his eyes were darting all over the place, keeping an eye on her. I like your thought bubbles. I thought i watched Ricki's 7 bd I will watch it now. Thank you Karin. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you, Sonja, for continuously following this troop. Yes, I agree with you. Momoko may appear cold towards her family at times, but she simply has a different way of keeping her distance from the family. She shows affection when needed.
I loved your thought bubbles, Karin! Haoko cares so deeply for Momoko, and it is my wish that Momoko be strong and healthy as she reigns over her family!❤ Beautiful Queen Momoko!
Cure for aplastic anemia is a bone marrow transplant; however, looks like Momoko is doing well without such an extreme measure. I hope she lives long. Thanks, Karin.
I know Toto was not the subject of your video but really lovely film of her at the beginning. ❤ 05:46 'Son, I'll remind you that you're still just a little gorilla to me. Don't make me call your dad - that will not go well for you" 😂🤣
Hi Charlotte. I’m glad you liked the closeup of Toto at the beginning of the video. I wanted to high-five Momoko for proving everyone that she isn't just sitting and eating.
@@ZoosForConservation As you know, there are more videographers now that focus on the Haoko Troop. So, there is more opportunity to see the family throughout their day. When watched regularly one can see that Momoko does decline Momoka's grooming at times by pushing her arms away and she does not put up with her son's insolence. She's gotten some good punches/pushes on him. I wonder do you have, or can you find a weight on Sumomo? She is solidly built - she is, no doubt, Haoko's daughter. Speaking of Haoko ❤ isn't he still just spectacular?
I'm glad that there are more videographers today, so we can get latest status of the troop. I am not sure how much Sumomo weighs today. She is big-boned. When I know her weight, I will keep you informed.😉
Thank you Karin, another great video of magnificent Haoko's family. Love the close up of beautiful Toto, she is so special to me. Hoping for good news from Momoko's medical check up.I enjoy the thought bubbles and yes Haoko loves his Queen Momoko very much, she has given him four wonderful healthy children. Take care Karin.
Thank you, Bonnie, for your warm comment. Haoko truly loves Momoko, and I believe Momoko does love Haoko too. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have brought four beautiful offspring to the world.
Karin, thank you as always for filming and editing this family! It shows that you see them as more than "just animals", but instead as intelligent beings with rich emotional lives. I love them all, but of course Haoko is my favorite. I love his expressive face and huge frame, as well as what a good troop leader he is!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Pam, for your warm comment! I'm happy to hear that Haoko is also your favorite. He is my favorite too.🤫 He is so expressive and rich in emotions.
I know he's no longer at the zoo but sad not to see Momotaro on that opening picture of the family tree. This was Momoko's first son and the silverback of his own family with wife Genki. She's the grandma of 2 of his boys. I LOVE MOMOTARO'S FAMILY. My favorite family to watch.
Thank you, Nicole, for watching. I understand what you mean, but I didn’t include Momotaro since he was never part of this troop. This video focuses on the Haoko Troop. I love Momotaro's family too.🦍💚
Thanks Karin. They have a great enclosure. Plenty of room for everyone. Loved the music as well. Momoko is Momotaro's Mum? They were the first gorilla family I started watching when Kintaro was much smaller.
What's even stranger is that Genki, Momotaro's mate, was once put into a troop with Momoko! Poor Genki was too sensitive to get along with Momoko, however, and started self-mutilating from the stress (she chewed one of her fingers off.) But eventually she ended up with Momoko's oldest son.
😂 I think he might be thinking about getting away to clear his head. He'll probably decide to go by Higashiyama and pickup his little bro. The two could use a couple days away to just forage and relax. 🤣
Thank you for asking such an important question. The zookeeper once mentioned that they can’t bring their captive gorillas to the wild, but they are willing to work on conservation of the species. And my honest opinion is that even though it’s difficult to return them back to the wild, any zoos with gorillas should keep the species as if to return them back to their natural habitats.
I keep feeling sorry for Haoko. He's so in love with his wife Momoka. Momoka doesn't feel romantic after giving birth to their baby daughter, who I call Baby Princess Plum. Birth name (Sumomo Haoko) Poor Haoko😔🐒❤️ 10-29-24

Hi LynnAnn - here's some history on Toto. She was living at Ueno when Haoko, age 14, arrived in June/2007. In August/2007, Haoko joined the two females - Toto, age 29, and Nana. Momoko, age 25, arrived at Ueno in December/2008. Lovely Toto has been with Haoko for 17 years - too sad she was unable to have an offspring. 😢 Toto was paired with 3 other silverbacks before Haoko. 🦍
Thank you, Gretta, for sharing your thoughts. Yes. You are right. Future plans for young gorillas are lagging behind. JAZA should have come up with a proper plan for young gorillas a long time ago.
We'd be told "they're on birth control and that their big professor checked that there's no penetration - they're just experimenting". Btw, bachelor group is a pretty rare thing in the wild and never is permanent.
Thank you, Claudia, for sharing your thoughts. I think Sumomo is just fine without too much attention from her parents. When necessary, Haoko does assist to ensure the safety of his baby. The keeper reported that Haoko exhibited such behavior in the early stage when Sumomo cried for help in their off-exhibit room.
@@mimiresilient6468 Thank you, Mimi, for watching. Momoko was diagnosed with aplastic anemia during her pregnancy. None of the gorillas in captivity here were not used for medical research.
Sumomo is a very independent, sassy and athletic little girl.

He looks at her with every atom of his being, love this lovestruck big guy ❤
