I agree. Komomo is definitely going to be the alpha of her group. I think she’d be perfectly suited to a silverback like Oumbi. Not Oumbi himself but similar. She’s maternal but strong and defends herself. She’s really a great girl.
@@all4mePope Oumbi is the half-brother to Biju, Momotaro's dad. (As you know, Biju died a few months before Momotaro was born.) Oumbi is not related to Momoko, so he is not related to any of her other off-spring.
It's really interesting that Toto seems to have taken on the main mothering role for Sumomo, like Momoko's just decided that after raising four of them already she's a bit over it, and if there's an indulgent childless auntie around who's happy to step up that's great.😂
Thank you Kathy for watching the video. I agree. But when Sumomo needs her mom, Momoko still parents her. But it seems she prefers to be with Toto during the day. I guess she learned that being with Toto was the safest. I'm curious who Sumomo spends the night with.
When I see Komomo, it is sad as it appears she will not have her own family and she will waste away at Ueno. She did such a fine job taking care of her little sister - holding her, taking her to the zookeeper at the grate for feedings, watching everything. She was so attentive to Sumomo's whereabouts when with another family member. If she deemed it necessary - she would rescue Sumomo who almost always, without fail, reached for her. It was precious to see the little one sleep in Komomo's arms. Komomo is a lovely gorilla and so deserving of her own future!! ❤❤
I agree with you. Komomo is such a sweet kindhearted gorilla. She has been a great caretaker of her baby sister. It proved that she is so ready to have her own family. She's only 13; many female gorillas in zoos don't become mothers until they're in their 20s and they're still able to have babies in their 30s. She's got lots of time.

All the ladies are on birth control now so they may mate but no babies. I’ve never seen Haoko mate w his daughters but Gorillas in captivity have done that to make sure they continue to further the generations. But either way no babies except Sumomo for Haoko for a while unless a new female would come in but Momoko does not allow that in the past as she’s alpha. I don’t expect the troop to change unless the young adult females are transferred out or Riki as he gets to be a silverback. But he has time.
Well Momoko is on birth control, so we won't need to worry about that. Toto wouldn't carry Sumomo about if it was bothering her that much, I think she actually enjoys the closeness.

I was just thinking earlier today that Komoko could hold her own with Tayari and Irika if she went to D'jeeco. Probably becoming the most dominant girl. Not Momoka alone though. I don't know if D'jeeko has the space, or could handle four girls though! And, while the grounds are nice, a little small for four maybe. Looking forward to watching this! Thank you!
