Just got my Aray 3 and oh man it’s such a great light. The build quality and light are just awesome. Within a couple hours my plants were 🙏

The main problem I have seen multiple times with warm vs. cool spectrums: cool light can cause the buds to be too thick and the clusters start growing into the ones above and start to mold instead of "spreading" a bit outward like it's the case with warm light.
Most strains have been bred under 1500-2500K and all the information and experience people have is based on how the plant grows under this spectrum, of cause you can switch to 3500-6000K without problems if you really know how the plant will respond and how you have to handle your environment to keep e.g. mold away.
Also infrared from the HPS was always a heat source in cold climates and somehow it must make a difference if you grow a plant with with same amount of light but with e.g. 2000K and 30c° canopy temperature, or if you grow them under 3500K LED and 23c° canopy temperature - the lower the temperature the higher the relative humidity and the more mold spores can form.
All in all this is such a complex thing, that I wouldn't only base it on scientific facts and lab results with plant testing etc., it's always a bit different in real life than in test conditions.

didnt know far red spectrum closely resembles shaded areas. makes sense on why the plants would stretch.

After lots of research I got the viparspectra ks5000e and it arrived today 😮. Was going to go with the spider farmer but a mate recommended me this 1. Hope it's a good 1? 👍

I've argued the red 660nm as a pointless expense. They cost more than white diodes. You can get red from 2800k diodes. Most fixtures have diodes in this range. I built my own light for a 4x2. Half is 2800k, and half is 3500k. The spectrum is not "ideal." Within my space, there aren't any noticeable differences in weight or quality. 660nm red is just electrically efficient so it only drives cost, not productiveness. I would rather fill that diode space with more brightness because flower is where it all matters and in flower, par beats spectrum.

good knowledge ... be interesting what Shane makes of the newer evo diodes as ive found on my ACI Evo light i got much better results than previously with other lights 😎

HLG making new fixtures... less then 4000k... better for flower..

"Some claim that the priority should really be light quantity instead of quality". Personally I can't disagree more. This conversation didn't add up to me. I guess just go ahead and turn the dial up on the dimmer and grow healthier plants then. Any proportion of blue, green, red Led will cut it as long as it's intensity is high. Yes it will grow plants, but the spectrum does affect the growth of the plant.

Shane clearly doesn't live in Ireland, its still illegal here, and will be for decades. 😢
