    Let's warm up people's bodies...AND HEARTS!!!!
    This is so exciting. My local crochet guild took donations a couple months back. I sent in all of my squares. I'll have to get some more together. Squares/rectangles are going to be my best shot at helping because I have a short attention span 😂 and the rectangles are quick and easy to make on the go, at the doctor office, waiting for the kids at the school, etc It takes a village...and we ARE that village. Our yarn and fiber community is absolutely AMAZING 💗 Thank you ,Tiffany, for using your platform to help out.

      Totally get it Darcia! Actually I think I’m one of the comments earlier someone mentioned shipping being an issue and the lady from Warm Up America mentioned a website where you can ship for a significant discount because of the charity. Check it out! Or feel free to reach out to Warm Up America directly to ask. 😊❤️🧶

    🇺🇸 Do a video on a sample square! 🇺🇸

    • @QueenIsabella18
      @QueenIsabella18 2 роки тому +2

      Doris, Tiffany actually has a video from this spring on how to make sections using both the seed stitch & the trinity stitch.
      If you want to keep it basic here's my go-to for sections!
      Using an I hook & RHSS or Big Twist, chain 27.
      Hdc in 2nd chain from hook. Hdc across for a total of 25 hdc. Chain up 2 and turn. Hdc across. Repeat for 15-17 rows depending on thickness of yarn, until the section is 7 inches tall. Leave a long end, cut, and weave in your ends.
      I highly recommend making yourself a template out of cardboard to measure your sections against to make sure you get them the correct size or close to it.

  • @marjoriewhaley7696
    @marjoriewhaley7696 2 роки тому +1

    For the 7 x 9 pieces that can be worked up...is there a particular stitch preferred to be used for that or any stitch so long as it can easily be joined with other pieces?

    • @QueenIsabella18
      @QueenIsabella18 2 роки тому +1

      Any stitch is good, sections are a great way to learn and practice new stitches. Tiffany does have a video from the Spring Challenge on how to make sections using the seed & trinity stitches if you're interested in those.

    • @QueenIsabella18
      @QueenIsabella18 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Sharon, there are a few patterns for sections on Warm Up America's website, but really all you need to do is create a rectangle that's 9 inches wide and 7 inches tall.
      For me, using an I hook, chain 27, hdc in 2nd chain from hook and hdc across for 25 hdc total. Chain up 2, turn and hdc across. Repeat for 15-17 rows depending on the thickness of the yarn. Weave in the ends.

      @@sharonmotley1015 I'm sure it'll turn out great! I highly recommend making yourself a 7" x 9" template out of a cereal box or cardboard to measure your sections against so you can be sure you're staying on track size-wise.

    Quilt or crochet squares? Or does it matter?

    • @QueenIsabella18
      @QueenIsabella18 2 роки тому +1

      All items MUST be made out of yarn since Warm Up America is a yarn-based charity that's overseen by the Craft Yarn Council. Please do not send items made out of fleece or fabric.

    • @ctfsh9497
      @ctfsh9497 2 роки тому

      @@QueenIsabella18 I only asked because the 7x9 square was confusing at first. Crochet is not usually an odd measurement like that.

    • @QueenIsabella18
      @QueenIsabella18 2 роки тому +1

      @@ctfsh9497 totally get it. The reason for those measurements is so that sections can be combined in a number of ways to make standardized blanket sizes. For instance, it takes 20 sections to make a 35" x 36" baby blanket. Using the same sections you can make a 35" x 45" lap blanket with 25 sections. It takes 49 sections to make an adult sized 49" x 63" blanket.

    A couple of top tricks for everyone:
    - Leave long ends on your sections and weave them in securely. If you just knot and cut, the section will unravel when it is joined into a blanket!
    - Sending a big box and want to save on postage? Consider using Give Back Box, which lets you ship any sized box up to 40 pounds to Warm Up America for just $15!
