    Saw stop heard they are great. But iam going to miss your job site saw videos. Not many people doing those type of videos. Congrats on the upgrade. Wish I had room for a cabinet saw.

    That saw is going to change your life! It is a very nice machine.

    Thanks for the video. Gave me an idea of how to tighten mine up. Instead of cutting springs I just tapped the threads for the set screws deeper. Worked like a charm.

    Congrats on the new saw. I have had the same saw for at least 8 years now. Only activated the blade twice. Once with my tape measure and once with metal impregnated plastic. Real scary but I have all my fingers.

      Thank you. Yes, I was really ready for a cabinet saw 6 months ago but couldn’t decide between this and the Harvey saw. Decided safety is most important

    Thanks for sharing, very helpful video. Bummer that the track isn’t easier to adjust to the miter slot.

    How are you going to set one up for 45 degrees when it only fits on the left side and the that the side the blade tilts to? You’ll cut through the fend and pivot point.

  • @CraigLafferty

    There is an accessory Drop-off platform for the right side of the cut that is very helpful a lot of the time. Good solution you came up with!

    My bad! hadn't thought of the orientation of the side pieces. Would moving the sacrificial fence to one side and tilting the blade to 45º to cut an angled reference slot work? The saw stop should have a very reliable tilt gauge.

    Great review. I don't feel like making a sled, so I'll probably go this route. Thanks for sharing!

    After watching your video on the Rockler table saw sled I made my own. The off feed table as well. Why didn’t you make your own ?
    I like your content but that just seemed wrong.

    Nice review Skyler. Its good to know there are decent and affordable options available to building a crosscut sled. For right now, I enjoy building my own jigs so will continue that.
    Also, did I miss something? Won't that sled adjust to a 45?

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes. You can cut 45 for picture frames. But if you want to cut a miter on a box the blade would have to go way high. It’s better to angle the blade and have a separate jig

    What are your thoughts on the woodpecker auto scale miter sled?

      I had to look it up, never heard of it:) looks pretty solid but I can’t tell since I haven’t tried it

    I have UA-cam on in the shop and saw this video. Congratulation on the new saw! Instead of buying another sled that needs to be stored, would setting the miter to a confirmed 45º and adding a stop pin to the base allow you to do both angles accurately with the one sled?

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  4 місяці тому

      That would work for picture frames but for boxes the blade would have to be to high. It’s probably better to tilt blade and have a separate sled

    Wow, what great timing! My daughter gave me a Rockler gift card for Christmas, and I was thinking to use it on this sled. By chance, did you happen to check if the guide rail would've fit on your old Dewalt contractor saw as I have the same one, thanks!

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  4 місяці тому

      I would not use it with a contractor saw. Unless you have build a support table on left side of saw. The sled is large and hangs out on left side of saw, it needs a lot of support so I dont think is safe to use with dewalt saw

    • @GroundedFlyboy737
      @GroundedFlyboy737 4 місяці тому

      @@woodworkingwithSkyler Thanks Skyler, I was wondering about that. I don't have room for a support table so I'll just make one. Lol, so now what do I spend the gift card on? Hmmm ... I've always wanted to work with Sapele!

    That type of sled is supposed to allow you to make angled cuts with a very high degree of precision. It will be interesting to see if that is your experience. Looking forward to more.....

    Just a heads up Skyler...on any sled or jig you purchase or make, beware of metal or screws that might be in the path of the blade. It/they will trigger your Sawstop safety mechanism. Don't ask me how I know this! 😉

    They are a great sled but for me to buy it and have it shipped to Australia it would cost over $800 Australian

    The cut-off is not supported on the right-hand side of the blade. Is that likely to matter?

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  4 місяці тому

      Doesn’t matter much but I did order the extra part of the sled that sits on right side of the blade. It’s out of stock but hopefully will get it soon

    You could start a new segment, "Skyler's new tools and jigs". You just keep getting better at presentation and camera work. Are you using just your phone for your videos?

    I think the one you made was better. Why spend $140 for something thats not right?
