Raven was my first black plant and the first plant I spent 20 bucks on without hesitation. I've had my share plants I fell out of love with but Rave is not one of them.
Black velvet Alocasia is one of my favourites. I found a tiny sad one for $7 at Canadian Tire. Took it home and it has grown so much. I love how each new leaf is bigger then the one before it
I live in Arizona too, this was so helpful and reassuring because my black alocasia only has one leaf rn and I was scared of it dying because it's not very mature either, but now I know it should be fine. I'm hopeful for the growing season this year 😭.
I got one of these for my crested gecko vivarium, a three leafer. It must be dormant. I've seen no growth whatsoever in about 4-6wks. I wish I had gotten something that gets bigger, but I really really love this plants leaves.
That would be a dream come true!! I love the black begonias with the lime green center they are crazy looking! Also even though the plant isn’t black the a bat flower would be a cool addition!
@@LeafMeAlonePlants omgee yes, the bat flower is on my wishlist til I get a green house cabinet. It's so effing beautiful I don't want it until I can give it perfect conditions.
Are you meant to leave the tuber uncovered? I repotted mine and covered the tuber totally. It's very unhealthy, I'm about to be left with one leaf. Thank you for the info on it being toxic, i didn't know that
I love the black velvet but alocasias dislike me. I have one mature plant that gave me 7 corms and they're all growing but mother only grew one tiny leaf since I had her and one of the babies has root rot. I transfered them all into perlite today😣
This is the first one I’ve had good look with I thought maybe I was getting better at caring for them but I just got a silver dragon and turns out the rest of them still hate me 😅☠️ I hope your little babies pull through I’ve been having really good luck propping in perlite recently!!
can my (relatively young) black velvet alocasia be grown in just water? i'm terrible with watering schedules and knowing when soil is moist/dry enough, so i've been trying to keep as many of my plants as i can in just water since they're a little easier for me to maintain that way 😅 do you think this is something i can do for my black velvet too?
I’m no expert, but I’m planning to get a black velvet soon and I’m going to put it in pon in a water bath. Basically pon growing pebbles and put the small pot with holes into a larger pot with an inch or two of water. It’s self watering and depending on your house, can be happy for a month between refills. Hope that helps!!
Help!!!!! what happened with mine, it was doing so well in summer but in winter it died, the stem went mushy and and leaves yellow I watered in the same way
Buddy, that’s your problem not hers. You can go to the setting gear of the video and change the speed to slow it down since you can’t keep up. If you can’t find the gear, you can google it. Now, maybe leave a positive comment about all the helpful information she provided rather than something you were struggling with that’s easy to fix.
@@soupspoon2188 Buddddy you are full of you know what, she not only speak too fast but mumble to boot and you should be more appreciative of people who help her making the videos better.
What is your favorite black plant??? 🖤🌿 While Love my black velvet my ZZ raven will always be #1!

I’m glad you mentioned the onle having 2 leaves at a time. I feel so defeated when i get another leaf growing and then lose another one 😅
I bought one of these from Lowe's today. I have it under a grow light in my kitchen. It seems to be doing very well. 🍀🌿🌾🐀🐾

This is such an amazing and informative video! I love your personality on top of that, thank you!

I've seen a black begonia that took my breathe away and then there's the black colocasias. I want a room full of black plants in white pots someday.

@@noeltimberlake165 I agree I would love to have one but my house is way too dry at the moment I’m still holding out for a greenhouse 😅
@@LeafMeAlonePlants I'm looking for the biggest greenhouse I can fit in a small room so I can lose myself in Anthuriums too.
@@noeltimberlake165 I had I one of those plastic ones on Amazon for a while it wasn’t the prettiest but the plants loved it
The origin of Black Velvet is Sabah, Borneo on the lime cliffs. It is the only place where Black Velvet has ever been observed in the wild.
How often do you water it?
Where did you purchase this bigger plant?
Die gleiche Blume habe ich mir gestern im Baumarkt geholt

Can someone please tell me the name of the pant in the black pot. 😭 It’s Amazing! Also, I just got a black velvet. Thanks for the tips.
I also live in AZ. I'm on my 2nd black velvet. I'm struggling 😢

Most plants require less water in winter. Sounds like yours may have been over watered
Ahh you didn’t talk about what kind of soil they like? Or maybe I missed it
You talk so fast that your words all run together and makes it really hard to understand what you are saying. :( Sorry.
slow down PLZ
