Also apple does know at all times where your air tag is at. While they might not track the air tag per say they do track the phone and other devices using connected to Bluetooth. So basically anytime the air tag connects to a device apple gets pinged revealing the location. This will be proven when OTA updates happen. Don’t be fooled.
The replacement idea is cool but can get expensive if you’re constantly buying watch batteries lol they should’ve had a super long battery life along with a charger tbh.
Yeah cool, but that person will get a notification HOW if you have an Android phone? Everyone using Android is at risk of being tracked by coworkers and classmates. 3 days isn't longer than a weekend

The most disappointing aspect of the AirTag's design is the fact that it is thief-friendly, particularly if the thief has an iPhone with them. Not only will the iPhone alert the thief to its presence, it will provide instructions on how to disable the AirTag. I would argue theft is a much larger problem than stalking.
Unless it's you who is being stalked! Stalkers are dangerous.
I understand your point, though. Apparently AirTags should be considered useful for lost items, not stolen ones.
To be honest I will use AirTags to track my cat when I left them outside and alway sneaking to neighbours house for an hour 😂😂

I believe the tags are not meant for theft battling in the first place. By looking at the design and the replaceable battery a thief would not bother at all to wait for the moving rage notification to disable it, they could in less than 5 seconds remove the battery and that would be it. Great video btw!
Definitely using this on my EDC, which will have an iPad Pro in May. Tile just got murdered. Honestly, an underated product.

The accelerometer in Airtags is so just in case you lose an item, once the Airtag is being moved, it’ll also beep to alert people of its presence.
Daniel, the accelerometer in the AirTag is used for the Moving Alerts, when you put your AirTag in “Lost Mode” it will detect movements so that it can track using other devices the latest location... CHEERS!
The accelereometer is used to track if the tag is moving I guess .. ie for the moving alert
Pretty sure the stalker feature is only issued when the original iPhone hasn’t been in contact with that tag in some time and is far from their area. I’m hoping it’s like a week or more.
But if you have it near your iPhone you originally used on the tag frequently it doesn’t enter stalker mode. Exact distance or time away I’m unsure.
I would use it for my airpods. Always constantly trying to find them
the accelerometer is used for height tracking or speed i assume. I saw that you can actually track it not only horizontally but vertically as well. So say your airtag is on top of the refrigerator, for some reason. the phone will tell you its right where you are, but its still 1.5ft away.
It’s been awhile since I went on a cruise but booked on for next year. If you have been on one you know the fun of tracking down your bags.
I would use air tags on my pets! We live in the forest- I love that apple is in the tracking game!!!
It’s cute at 8:35, that you say the tag will be more expensive than the whole bag whilst showing an Hermès Kelly bag.. when that bag alone cost $9,000 - 40,000.

The extra sensors in the air tags are for tracking movements for AR/VR. Wait for WWDC. Parents say the airtags could be used for tracking your body for fitness applications.

Switched from Tile to Airtags. Did not care for Tile and decided to try Apple. Going on cruise in Feb 2023 and will put the Airtag and worthy of the hype behind it. Thanks for info.
Yeah. I totally agree, if someone takes my airtag connected stuff and gets a message saying it's there, then the airtag is basically useless. That stopped me making a purchase.
I hope that at some point my phone can be notified if I leave the house without my wallet or vice versa. I’m constantly getting to the parking garage and realize I’ve left my phone or wallet up in my flat

4:19 If the AirTags notifies the user they are being tracked and they can disable that, then AirTags can't be used for stolen goods.
Maybe if there are different “modes” to set the AirTag, this problem would be solved.
Start beeping after 3 days of separation from your phone is a start but being able to set your own timing would be better.
Personally I think notifying the person they are moving with a tag is good enough. But have no ability to disable the tracking but disable the beeping sound. This solves both problems. The one who lost the tag has the ability to continue tracking the tag. The one with the tag is notified that he is with the tag. This give the person the choice to throw out the tag or contact the person.
@@jzuniga633 if my car alarm goes off, I don't want the person stealing it to be able to shut the sound off. Likewise with the AirTags.

I liked the video, very informative. One point that I wish to make between AirTag and Tile (I do own both items) is that Tile relies on a network of 30, 40 Million users while AirTag is well over 1 billion users in the US alone. The chances of a device being in the proximity of another Apple device are much greater than for the Tile products.
I am very excited! I am thinking about getting one for a few but I haven’t decided yet it might come in handy at some point but you never know. I will definitely consult with a family member who is an apple junkie just like me. The only thing I do not have apple related is a Mac computer but I am considering making my next computer an iMac. Hopefully Tile will join the find my network.

Great information and I love your accent. I was researching this to TAG for my adorable Boston Terrier -Sir Winston Blu. I would also tag my husbands keys & wallet (he is always losing them) Thanks again for the information. Highly considering it, don't know if I will wait until APPLE improves the glitches. They're not cheap.
The accelerometer in the airtags is used to understand whether is it moving or not, maybe the direction as well
The point of the airtags is to track Lost not Stolen items. The accessories are designed to be on the exteriors or on the handles of things for people to see deliberately so it can be returned. Not to mitigate theft

Regarding the issue with moving tags on public transport, surely it will work just like any other lost and found item? When someone finds the tag after being pinged they can act on it.
Definitely track my bags at the airport once i get to travelling again.

The tag is to find lost items not to prevent theft or track stolen items. And sadly privacy and stalking is their higher concern in the precautions, because there is no way for a little disc to know this person is a thief track them, this is your spouse you can’t stalk them.
By the way, good tip about the Hermès 😅😅 I totally agree, either the AirTag, the Hermès tag, the bag or the whole😂

I can’t think of anything less useful than airtags. OK - if you’re the kind of person who routinely can’t find your keys in your house, but if something is stolen the thief will simply remove it and discard.
My wife wants me to buy an AirTag because I suck about placing my keys in a regular place. She said, “$30 is a steal to never have to hear you say, ‘Have you seen my keys?”, again! Happy wife=happy life.

How would it track your dog? It will only show you the area your dog was in IF there was someone with an iphone nearby , and then your dog will likely have moved on anyway. Buy a Hermes dog lead for only $2,500 instead :)
Since there is no GPS, the accelerometer helps determine whether the tag is moving or not. The notifications are managed differently depending on whether the tag is moving or not.

When an airtag is separated from its owner for over 3 days and if it's then moved, it would chime to let the people around know of its presence. As u would understand that would require an accelerometer
Honestly the number one item I would use the air tag on would have to be my hidrate water bottle! I tend to leave it everywhere I go! The gym, my parents house, my girlfriends moms house. You name a location I’ve probably left my water bottle somewhere similar at the very least haha. Either that or my backpack that I take everywhere and almost all my important items in!

The accelerometer reminds me of the mocap hardwares used in the Xsense suit. I have a hunch these are the result of incoming motion capture tech 🤤 of the consumer variety

Air tags vs Samsung tags detailed comparison would be nice
The video says that the air tag only activates when it is “not near you” but there is no indication of what “near” means. It cannot be used in his bike as that is not in the flat so presumably it can only be used for items that are normally within your vicinity. Eg. you cannot put one in your suitcase before it goes on an airplane so that you can track it when the airline sends it to Brazil instead of Italy or have I missed something?
does it has accuracy up to metres? bcos i always need to find my keys...

Isn't the accelerometer for that purpose of unwanted tracking. Because that's how AirTag has that feature to detect if you're being tracked.

I just ordered a 4-pac of AirTags with the free engraving. They’re cheap for an Apple product. A couple years ago I was in Vegas and left expensive car keys in a jacket that I hung on a restaurant chair. It took me a couple days to find the jacket and keys by going to various hotels lost and found. If I had an AirTag, then security would have just called me. What a PITA, never again.😎

My keys. The design of the air tags is going to limit what you can use them on. I really wish they would have made a credit card form factor for your wallet. I have seen a few 3rd party holders but they just seem to cover the basics.
one of the things I would like to use it for would be my car because sometimes i forget where i parked it at and spend half an hour just to find it
The iPhone Maps app does this today.
i will track my luggage, the airport is a very busy place and an airtag will be very useful for this purpose 💙
