i've followed your tutorial including swithcing stuff on and off. I'll be using my tag largely for luggage, so it will be dormant a lot. should I switch off any of the actions I've taken to help save the battery while it's not in use? Also, what are the odds of my suitcase being found if it's lost in far distant places on the globe? Great tutorial ... THANK YOU!
3:40 this works but only if your iPhone is a newer version. Precise location may not be available for you, so its worth it to try this feature out on your iPhone to see if its precision location applicable
In the iPhone Find My App, tap on the AirTag you want to check, and if the battery is low, you will see a message under the AirTag name. If there is not a message it just means the battery is is fine.
Great video. It appears that an Air Tag is not appropriate to locate things a distance away? For example; if I place an air tag in my checked bag, where the bag may be loaded on my aircraft or left in an airport baggage area I won't receive location information? Or in my car where it may be lost in a mall parking lot?
It works with Bluetooth. The more accurate answer to worry about is not putting the tracker away from you, just away from iPhones in general. Whenever you walk by an airtag, your iPhone sends out it's location to the owner of the tag via bluetooth. This is all silently done in the background. This is how air tags work without Internet, and it's why people recommend installing your tags in cars in high or outside places. You want to be nearby other iPhones in order to ping. This is exactly how thieves would exploit the airtag in my opinion. Recognize only iPhones ping this information, not Androids. As someone malicious, my goal would be to tag discreetly around the area I plan to rob . Then I wait for no ping on my airtag. This lets me know that no iphones are near my tag. No iphones, no one's home. This of course doesn't factor in the fact that someone else could be there , who uses android, or, It can be more difficult to use, in very dense areas. Are you home, or is your neighbor. That kind of thing. Now you know. Edit I believe if you have a iPhone 14 or newer you can use precise location to get a very accurate detection of where the item is, and if you find that you are not being updated for hours, activating the "lost" mode makes the tag search for phones to ping every 2-3 minutes. Hope this helps. thanks
Hi. Great tutorial! I have an AirTag attached to a shoulder bag that I carry with me when I go out for my daily walk. Two times, I forgot to take the bag with me and 400 ft into my walk the Find My App notified me on my iPhone that I had left my bag behind. Is it possible for me to change the 400 ft distance to any distance of my choice, say 15 ft?
Do you know why I can’t see my AirTag? It’s on my dog and she’s at home and I’m at work. She runs away a lot which is why I got the tag. But it’s not locating her. I set it up yesterday.
First make sure you are looking in the Find My App under the items tab as that is where AirTags are located. If you do not see the AirTag you set up then best bet is to pull out the battery and reset it. Then reconnect it to your iPhone and see if you can see it before you put it on your Dog. Basically if your dog runs away (hope not) then, it will pick up locations based on what it passes. For example other iPhones, or bluetooth devices. As it passes these things, the AirTag will send that location to your iPhone. So, if the dog is at home, it shouldn't really move but if you don't see it at all there is an issue. If resetting doesn't fix it, you may want to return it to Apple as it could be defective.
Hi, I lost my purse at a concert venue on Saturday. As soon as I was a distance from it I got a notification from my AirTag that my keys were left behind. I had no clue how to use it I only knew I could track it on the Find My app but didn’t know all the features it had. Does the picture of the location shown when tracked on real time? This might be a dumb question but I’m barely getting to learn how to use an AirTag and it’s features.
Your tutorial is very well done and complete! Keep up the good work. Can you do a tutorial on how to remove the speaker in the AirTag? I am using it to track my car in case it is stolen! However, even if it is well hidden, I do not want to make it easier for the thieves to locate the AirTag by activating the sound and then disabling the AirTag to stop the tracking! Thanks
Best airtag video ever as a brand new iphone user with alot of expensive toys but im old and hate tech ... You just made it super simple for an ole fart like me very much pre shaded brother you rock and you gained a sub in me ....
Good info. Just curious, I have a question as it relates to how the Air Tag technology works. If I have an air tag on in my backpack and it was thrown into a dumpster. How will I be able to see where the backpack is? What is required in order for me to be able to see the backpack in its current location? Will I be able to see it in my "Find My" iPhone app, or is something else required in order for it to show up on the "Find My" screen? Thanks in advance for your time and reply.
I am a new purchaser trying to figure out the utility of this device. So far it seems more limited than I had imagined. This video says the range of the airtag is about 40 feet. You would be out of luck until you get close to wherever the contents of that dumpster ended up. However, if someone discover syour backpack and reports back to you things might work out. If you leave an airtagged item in a taxi or an Uber, you may never see it again. I may end using these airtags to locate my keys or remote.
Hi, this is excellent thank you. One question though there can be a delay in the air tags info to your phone. It will tell you the item was last seen ‘25 minutes ago’. It will try to refresh but it doesn’t always work. Is there anyway to get more update locations quicker? I tried turning the phone on and off but no joy.
Hi echoing other users in saying this; this has been so helpful! I had so many questions before viewing this. And many of them have been relieved. I’ve subscribed and I’m keeping this for future review and knowledge. Thank you again so much.

Thank you! But as a victim of luggage theft, can you tell me what happens if there’s a theft? Would they be able to know that there’s an air tag there, locate it and disable it?
The batteries last for about a year. It's wise to remember to replace them or store them in at least easy-ish access places in order to retrieve the tag to replace that battery
question.. hypothetically if i put my air tag say in a open field and it was 300 ft away by itself.. i wont see it on my phone till i am like 15 ft away when blue tooth kicks in.. but if there was ppl with cell phones with bT on next to it.. I would be able to get a distant of 300 ft away and then i can keep walking to it with the arrow on my iphone telling me the direction and distance.... Correct??
It should work something like that. However, I can tell you my first hand situation with a bag that got stolen from me was a bit different. The tag was in the bag. I couldn't get the arrow to trigger but I did get location pings as it moved. Eventually it was left in a forest area by a road. I got the general location on the map by the passing drivers phones I am assuming. I was maybe 20-30 ft away before I could get the arrows to engage a guide me.
@@DHTV Wow.. sorry to year abt ur bag... but ty for the info.. ya.. my guess is anyone with bluetooth will connect to it and then your phone will get a location.. so if im at a airport and my bag is still 400ft away.. and if the person loading the bags has a phone with bluetooth it will ping me and say its far away and give me a map on where its at.. i guess the arrow will start working under a 100ft or so?? will see if thats true when i travel to Kauai and wait for my bag ..
So a thief can disable it and "safely" steal my stuff? If that's the case, then it is only for things I forget where I put, but it's not that "anti-theft", right?
It's more for tracking lost luggage/backpacks, etc on air planes, cruises, general travel... It's not touted as an anti-theft device. My friend's luggage was lost by an airline and no one knew what city it was in. An air tag would have helped.
So basically with the iPhone you set it up with you have about 10 meters max. keep in mind obstacles and things could lower this distance. If it goes further it can use Bluetooth to ping various locations
i have 3 air tags that i bought last year. today I bought new batteries and I can't connect to my I phone. I did everything you did but to no avail. Could you help me?
No, so if you want the sound and directional tracking it will only work 30ft away but if say the dog runs away, you can then start seeing points where the airtag has connected with other iPhones, or bluetooth devices as it is out. So when I went on vacations I could see where our luggage was based on phones and other bluetooth devices even though I was on a different part of the airport.
So we can’t track it? It doesn’t show a map of wherever is? For example if it’s in my classic car and it’s 10” miles away it won’t show me the map where it’s at as it moves?
It will but it needs something around it to ping. For example if you leave it in a garage that has nothing around it with a Bluetooth connection then the location won’t show up or update. As it moves it will ping locations on a map based on other Bluetooth devices around.
@@DHTV ok nice. I bought a 4 pack and I was worried it didn’t. It’s past the return policy. Bought it 2 months ago and still haven’t set it up. Procrastinator I know. Great video, thanks. Buying two tags for 4 planned trips in next 6 months. Will put this video in favorites for future reference. You answered a lot of my questions.
My experience is that these are about worthless for finding things. You can be within a few feet and they never connect to your phone. I've tried more than one but they are curious critters. Sometimes they apparently connect to someone elses phone which is then relayed to me but when I try to track it it's a no go.
I read you can set up a boundary and if the tag leaves that you'll be alerted, but I have yet found how to do that. I only see the "left behind" option. Is this an option?
It needs to pickup a Bluetooth signal from someone or something as it moves otherwise it only shows the last spot it was able to connect. If you are in the car driving around with another Bluetooth device enabled like an iPhone, it should be changing
So lets say I use this and put it in my car... after removing the speaker... and someone steals my car. If they have an iPhone, will they be notified of the tag and will they be able to use the locator to find it in the car?
Not really, unless you remove it from one phone in the find my app and connect it to the other phone. Aside from that, you can’t have it viewed from two phones.
Please show us how to use Apple what S6 above with U1 chip finding in a lost mode AirTag ? We just want to see the precise finder working picture on an Apple Watch >
Airtag is linked to your apple id, if your devices have a different apple id you will not be able to interact on those devices that have a different one.
Just bought one to hide on my bike in case it gets stolen. But if it notifies the thief that an AirTag is moving with them, won’t this defeat the point of what I’m trying to do?
I think it s important to note that if you change your phone (replacement or new phone) that you should 3:49 remove the air tag from your phone. Also if you want to use the same tag on your new phone. 6:17
Actually, AirTags are connected to your Apple ID. So if you switch iPhones and use the same Apple ID you will still be able to track the AirTag. Removing it from the old phone is important though if you are selling it or giving it away.
if someone if tracking me with his paired Airtag, and for me to receive this notification 'AirTag Found Moving With You', must my iPhone be turned on with "location services" and "Find My" ? if these 2 functions are turned off, can I still receive such notification on my iPhone?
Instead of the "Find" green button, I have a "Directions" blue button which gets me to maps. My AirTag is next to me? iPhone XSmax fully updated. What's wrong?
Thanks!

AirTag can be added to one Apple ID so if the iPad used the same Apple ID as the iPhone it will be visible on both
So I can only be 30 feet away from the air tag?
If my dog gets lost can I track her down if she’s more than 30 feet away?
No, so if you want the sound and directional tracking it will only work 30ft away but if say the dog runs away, you can then start seeing points where the airtag has connected with other iPhones, or bluetooth devices as it is out. It needs to pickup a Bluetooth signal from someone or something as it moves otherwise it only shows the last spot it was able to connect. If you are in the car driving around with another Bluetooth device enabled like an iPhone, it should be changing
Ok I see now, thanks for your reply.
No problem.
So lets say I use this and put it in my car... after removing the speaker... and someone steals my car. If they have an iPhone, will they be notified of the tag and will they be able to use the locator to find it in the car?
How would this work for a pet ? Would it be a good device to find a lost dog?
How many air tags can be added to phone?
As many as you want I’d assume
How about if I misplaced in the house low battery???thanks
It gives you that little direction system to look for it
I just bought one of these for my luggage on flight/ but I have an iPhone 10 …will it not work?
It will not do precise location. You need an iPhone 12 for that.
Hi ! is there anyway i can share my AirTags with my family?
Not really, unless you remove it from one phone in the find my app and connect it to the other phone. Aside from that, you can’t have it viewed from two phones.
Yes, you can. My son bought a pack of 4 airtags and installed one of them on my wallet. We are not living in the same house. Everything works great.
where should I attach it to my luggage?
I threw it inside worked great
In order for an airtag to work...if someone is tracking u do it work off of my bluetooth
Please show us how to use Apple what S6 above with U1 chip finding in a lost mode AirTag ? We just want to see the precise finder working picture on an Apple Watch >
How can someone track you if it only has a range of 30 feet?
The precision locator only works within 30 ft. Further out you will have a location on a map.
Thanks, very good tutorial
Can you link two phones to one AirTag
No it’s one phone I believe
Airtag is linked to your apple id, if your devices have a different apple id you will not be able to interact on those devices that have a different one.
Just bought one to hide on my bike in case it gets stolen. But if it notifies the thief that an AirTag is moving with them, won’t this defeat the point of what I’m trying to do?
Just received two tags for future travel, your tutorial was extremely informative and helpful, thanks so much.
Thanks glad it was helpful for you!
Well Done!
Thanks!
Where can I find the find green button, mines just says directions and has the whole map instead of the arrow
Would only pop up if it’s close range I believe.
Thank You
No problem
I think it s important to note that if you change your phone (replacement or new phone) that you should 3:49 remove the air tag from your phone. Also if you want to use the same tag on your new phone. 6:17
Actually, AirTags are connected to your Apple ID. So if you switch iPhones and use the same Apple ID you will still be able to track the AirTag. Removing it from the old phone is important though if you are selling it or giving it away.
Thank you. But that did not track with my experience. I am not an expert but i feel that ths issue should be clarified!
Class might have to invest in one of these. Thanks.
Definitely worth it for the time wasted looking for things. I used similar products for years.
Took over 6 minutes to get to "tips and tricks" as advertised. I already know how to use my AirTag thanks!
if someone if tracking me with his paired Airtag, and for me to receive this notification 'AirTag Found Moving With You', must my iPhone be turned on with "location services" and "Find My" ? if these 2 functions are turned off, can I still receive such notification on my iPhone?
I’m not sure 100% I read even off the iPhone can be foubd
Let us say I leave my back pack at Jim's Hot Dogs. when I return home may I use AirTag to figure out it was left at J.H.?
Yes
excellent! thank you
No problem, glad to help!
Instead of the "Find" green button, I have a "Directions" blue button which gets me to maps. My AirTag is next to me? iPhone XSmax fully updated. What's wrong?
If you leave your backpack somewhere by mistake,a few miles away, and nobody (with an iPhone) sees it, how will you know where it is?
It's your job to realize you've lost your backpack, go to your Find My...and locate it via the map.
You thank you so much at you as a subscriber thumbs up all the way
Thanks for the sub! Glad I could help!
