U2 - Pride In The Name Of Love (ZOO TV 1993 Live in Sydney)
Lyrics
In the name of love
One man come in the name of love
One man, he come and go
One man comes he to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Early evening, April four
A shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
In the name of love
In the name of love
In the name of love
One last u2 song, and from that Sydney concert that I was at. Pride was u2's breakout song. this was the song that broke them and put them on the music map. This is where they went from "hard working band" to "legend"...
Definitely, U2, one of the best rock bands of all time.
Probably the greatest concert your ever. I saw them at Wembley stadium in 1993 on that tour. I've never seen anything like it before or since. So innovative.
The Edge is the reason delay pedals come standard with the 8th note delay pre-set.
ZOO TV was such a epic concert! I’ve only made it to three concerts/tours ( twice in Tacoma, once in Seattle), but U2 NEVER disappoints!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
If you haven’t seen their Super Bowl performance post 9/11, please watch it. It’s really great and emotional.
Agreed - spine tingling
Also rooftop performance of Where the Streets Have no Name (yeah I know it is imitating the Beatles performance).
@karlsenula9495 although that performance was good.
I didn't like where they did it. The crowd blocked traffic including emergency vehicles that could have needed to get through.
You guys and U2 are a match made in heaven.
You are witnessing the greatest band that ever walked the earth
U2 made some crazy technological jumps during this tour that were really a window into the next decade and beyond.
Best live version of this I have heard is on U2's official channel and is much earlier in their career, not long before they released Joshua Tree. just search U2 - Pride (In The Name Of Love) (Live) and you'll see a very young Bono in a fringed leather jacket and long hair with his mic. He leads in with the song MLK which transitions into Pride and it's absolutely wonderful to hear
Was at this show too, it was excellent, such great memories.
The Edge really went for hooks and atmospherics as opposed to riffs and sonics. Totally underrated. He is kind of like Alex Lifeson of Rush and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd where the tone and fills and solos fit the songs as opposed to gunslingers who chase their own tone every song like (GOAT) Eddie Van Halen. The Edge deserves some due.
U2 was what I'd call an atmospheric band- like Simple Minds and the Midge Ure era Ultravox.
This song is a nice tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.
Was at this show. It started with a screen of green shards that took an hour to form the logo.
I and my partner stayed for 3/4 hour afterwards waving.
One of his roadies must have told him, because Bono appeared and did a crouch wave to us :P
So glad to say that I was at the Brisbane show of this tour. One of the best shows of my life.
Although you haven't seen it yet in any of your reactions, he is one of the very few male singers with a three octave range.
For me Pride is the greatest song ever written….the meaning, lyrics it has everything 👌
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" was my fave, i think more because of the story behind it, but to understand that means a deep dive into the hatred between irish n english n protestant n catholic ireland... but I had alot of faves. Mostly their earlier stuff from the albums "Boy" n "War" were my 2 fave albums.
Realmente ele tem uma voz incrível, mas a voz dele na versão de estúdio é espetacular e poderosa !!
Love Comes Tumbling has fantastic bass
I worked as a roadie on this tour in Australia !
I'm so glad you're reacting to Zootv. It was epic. I am sad I never got to see it when it came here to New Zealand, but I probably hired this on VHS from Blockbuster 1000 times.
U2's drummer Larry Mullen inspired me to start playing drums at school. You guys should just react to the whole concert lol. And shout out to Dei too.
Love crucified...betrayed by a kiss Many came in the name of love, King, Ghandi etc, but only one was crucified for God so loved.
Have the courage and don't just make fun of the title Daddy's Pay For Your Crashed Car, but react together with the phone call and the following song Lemon as a package. You will be "shocked" by how U2 will change musically and theatrically: Bono as the fictional character MacPhisto in the ZOO TV show. It's pure fun😲
Daddy's Gonna Pay is the highlight of Zoo TV for me. Love it.
@@PJBonoVox I meant for Pride to be the last song, but as you've already guessed, I HAD to do Daddy's Gonna Pay... That outro, and Travis previously commenting on the cars.... It just HAD to be done...
The song is about Dr.King Jr but it's also about Jesus Christ.
Bono said that they are two of his heroes he wishes he could have met.
Mother of the disappeared
Thank you for how do you math that
You guys have to do Lemon and Dirty Day from this same show. My two favorites from Zooropa. Lemon about his mother, and Dirty Day about his father.
I'd like a tiny fraction of what Dei has spent on these reaction requests.
You've been concentrating on Sydney, check out the 360 your to have your mind blown.
The Sydney focus is my fault, as I was there. The bias here is all me.
@@_Dei_ Its THE concert I start people out with for U2 so I think them going through every song is ideal.. I have watched this concert turn people into die hard U2 fans.
It's their best concert ever, so I love the fact we have were able to see so many different reactions. I saw it twice, indoor and outdoor in Toronto. There will never be another one like it.
I suggested 360 just to see their reaction to the stage alone.
They have a beautiful little song called "MLK" ....
Its ok version its a littlebit slower as in the 80$
Or the Slane concert.
When he sings the line One man in the name love I think of Jesus Christ 💖💖😊
In the name of love, acho o clip oficial é melhor.
Poor live performance....Studio version for their songs, with the exception of "Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car."
(Dude GROW UP!)
