Guys I love your reactions! I hope you get to read this because it’s really important to this performance even though you have already seen it. This concert in Paris took place one week after the horrible terrorist attack across the city that year. The attacks took place on a Friday night at multiple locations by an organized cell, the worst of which was a concert hall where The Eagles of Death Metal were playing a show. Dozens were gunned down on the floor and the band ran for their lives. U2 was in Paris that night as their concert was scheduled for Saturday. They got the EODM out of Paris on their private jet that night. Bono lobbied the government to reschedule their show ASAP.. this was the first public event since the attacks. The intensity of pain and healing was POWERFUL and Bono’s message was we choose love over fear. Bono also kept in constant contact with EODM during that week. At the end of this show, Bono told the audience to welcome some friends… “they had their stage taken from them last week so tonight we offer them ours.” The Eagles of Death Metal came out, did a song with U2 and then U2 left and let them close the show themselves. The whole show was beyond belief. My wife HATES concerts on TV… she watched this with me and cried at least 5 times.
The original version of Bullet the Blue Sky was against war and the US war industry based on the wars U2 experienced (from the side line, but still too close) in Nicaragua and El Salvador. It's so raw and angry. In this version it is still against war, but additionally Bono having a conversation with his younger self about his activism and the criticism he got for it. Fascinating addition to the song.
Bullet is the most altered song - on every tour, there’s a different version. Some of them feature the best guitar work you’re gonna see on a live show - mind blowing. First time I’ve seen this version and it’s excellent, but not the best I’ve seen
First, the U2 rhythm section really holds it down, and never gets enough credit. Second, the slide guitar is so dramatic and bad ass in this song. Third, no front man is more effective at roping you in than Bono. Amazing band.
This is song was written about the Central American war in the 1980’s and Bono witnessed American bombers. Very powerful and highly metaphorical in the lyrics.
Great live version. Saw U2 a couple of times in concert back in the 90s. Have you heard some of their earlier stuff: 40, I Threw A Brick, A Day Without Me?
I saw U2 7 times. In NYC and Philly .......HUGE fan, my advice to you is to start with the album WAR and go album by album.....FuckinWIld trip.......................Id watch that show..............and remember as BONO sang,-------------------------------------------- 'Dont let the bastards grind you down!' P.S. .........Unforegetttable Fire is it for me.
"Bullet the Blue Sky" is a sonic storm that blends the raw power of rock with a profound political critique. Inspired by the impact of imperialism in Central America, the song is a dark canvas painted with The Edge’s searing riffs, an unsettling rhythmic pulse, and Bono’s voice, heavy with anger. Each chord is a shot, each word an indictment, pulling the listener into an emotional and moral battlefield. U2 doesn’t aim to comfort but to confront, turning music into a weapon against apathy. A haunting and timeless masterpiece that cries out for justice in a wounded world.
bono changed half v pyrics in vis performance, dont know if he ad libed it?, one still gets v picture n v energy, eges guitar wrk is memorable, i saw vis ratle n hum ( a u2 movie) in a cinema on release,v sound was incredible.
Bullet the Blue Sky is an album track off the Joshua tree. It’s different on the album to this live version The conversation at the end supposed to be between Bono now and Bono age 19. What would a 19 year old Bono say to Bono today. Bono does a lot of charity work and takes a lot of criticism for it. When he says at the end he runs into your arms he means the u2 fanbase. U2 fans by in large will always have Bono’s back despite the flack he gets It’s a great version live and makes it very theatrical Great review 👌
I stopped listening to u2s new albums after pop in 1997.. until then they were flawless.. but live they are still fantastic and this is an insane performance
In the history of music only a very select few have been able to consistently put on a show that reaches epic proportions Queen, Pink Floyd, Rolling stones and U2 are among those select few, enjoy U2 whilst you can as it won't be long before they too are just a distant memory.
I’ve seen the stones and Pink Floyd. Nothing matches U2 live. It’s the emotional connection. The flawless performance that exceeds the album versions by far, and being the most groundbreaking live band of all time in terms of stage construction and technology.
Congratulations, great choice. From the same concert there is a fantastic song package Bad+People Have The Power with the brilliant Patti Smith. At the end of the hit single City Of The Blinded Lights, U2 remember the 89 victims of the dastardly terrorist attack at the previous Eagles Of Death Metal concert, 130 in the entire city; but also a musically touching concert.
The band were caught up in the bombing of El Salvadore, when they got out Bono said he wanted Edge to put the sound of the bombs and explosions through his guitar
This is the one song that gets a makeover every tour, depending the current state of world and the band. This Vegas Sphere show is the first time this has been played on tour since 1987.
Are you saying hasn't been played? Because they didn't play bullet at the sphere, and they didn't play it during the e and i tour in 2018. They did play it in 2019 during the continuation of the Joshua Tree anniversary tour though. Source: me as I haven't missed a tour since 2015's I and E tour.
Loved your reaction.First song October was written when they were 20 years old.Mindblowing that a 20 years old Edge could come up such a beautiful piano part.
Your reaction suggests you have no idea what the song was about! That wasn't a performance by U2, it was a stinging criticism that forces you to making a moral judgement, well beyond whether you liked it or not, or who will be offended. It's actually a severe criticism of America (my country in cr*p in many ways too.)

Bullet the Blue Sky is one of their best song ever!
sounds terrible with that megafone. the studio version is good
The first time I heard Bullet the Blue Sky = mind blown 🤯.
U2 A maior banda de todos os tempos! Ao vivo eles são imbatíveis!!!
First, the U2 rhythm section really holds it down, and never gets enough credit. Second, the slide guitar is so dramatic and bad ass in this song. Third, no front man is more effective at roping you in than Bono. Amazing band.

Bullet the blue sky is a song about a war machine called the USA. War in south America
Check out their manila philippines concert even if by fan cameras the whole crowd know all the lyrics of their set list, theyre big in philippines

Edge channeling some Gilmour 1972-4, Bono channeling some "The End" Jim Morrison
Kite or In God's Country please. My only and favorite U2 reactors ✌️Shout out to TOM as well :)
You should see the zoo tv concerts they are out of this world!

Funny how these outrage over war songs just disappear when Democrats are starting wars all over the world. 🤔
The girl needs to ditch the Tammy Faye Baker eyelashes, she has beautiful blue eyes but you can't see them
Superb… you didn’t chime in
I know you have done the day that the world breaks down Ayreon but the live version has just been released 😊
