The man washing on an empty beach is Gandhi. The man betrayed with a kiss is Jesus. And then of course MLK. This song is about the long line of people who changed the world through their movements based on nonviolence: Satyagraha, Christianity and the Civil Rights Movement, respectively. Each one was murdered, but nobody could kill the powerful truth of their messages. U2 was telling us to listen to those messages -- good advice even today, or maybe especially today.
I was lucky enough to see them at Sundevil stadium, two days in a row, for $10/day while they filmed footage for Rattle and Hum. One of the highlights of my life.
Meanwhile, while researching a bit of family history recently I discovered U2 recorded some of their early demos in my house! My Dad was a live-in manager of a nightclub, and we had the apartment on the top floor, but in between was a small recording studio that was usually used for recording radio ad jingles and stuff but which it turns out U2 used to use too because they couldn't afford a top of the line one yet. I have vague memories I used to sit on the stairs and listen to the music of the different acts, but I had no idea what I was listening to or who they'd become!

This girl knows her history. She picked up on the MLK reference immediately. The video was shot around the bands home town of Dublin, as we're many of their early videos. For your next one I suggest Unforgettable Fire or Gloria. Both from the early days of their catalogue
The live version I'm hoping for is "Bad". As a DJ put it once, it's eight of the best minutes on the radio. Would also LOVE to see them react to the Numb video. First time I heard that on the radio, I didn't know who it was and had to resist the urge to change the channel. Song ended and they said it was U2, and my brain exploded. It has since become one of my favorite songs of theirs, just because I enjoy things that are different.
This is one of my favourite U2 songs - full of heart and passion, and with a powerful message. As Amber realised, this is a tribute to Dr Martin Luther King ( assassinated on April 4 1968, hence the reference to "Early morning, April 4" although he got the time of day wrong) -and this song is very much informed by Bono's own faith. The various men referred to have never been identified for certain by Bono to my knowledge (although the last one is obvious), but given his personal faith: "One man he resists" could be Gandhi whose non-violent resistance was famous; "One man washed on an empty beach" is probably a reference to St Paul washed up on the shore in Malta after a shipwreck (but could be Jonah); "One man betrayed with a kiss" is Jesus Christ, of course. It's been speculated that some of the men referred to were perhaps Irish rebels/freedom fighters or soldiers from WWI or the Cold War, and so on, but to me that seems unlikely as they are not necessarily supporters of love, and the song has more of a religious foundation, so they are more likely to be people counted as non-confrontational advocates of peace and love like saints or martyrs. Having said that, "One man caught on a barbed wire fence" is very specific, and there is an infamous case of 18 year old German bricklayer Peter Fechter who died at the Berlin Wall when he tried to cross from East to West Germany in 1962 to be with some of his family who he had been separated from. He was shot, got trapped on barbed wire and was left to bleed to death by guards who would not approach to help him. His last act could be said to be "in the name of love" because he was trying to get to be with his sister and her side of the family.
For 36 years, my favorite song of all time has been "I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR". For whatever reason the lyrics & gospel influence speaks to me. Blessed to have heard this song at their concert. Bono & The Edge 🔥
Love that track as well! Was fortunate enough to have seen them a couple times too. The last time was at MSG about a month after 9/11 & they had a bunch of FDNY and EMS workers come on the stage during the song 'Walk On,' and they shone all the names of the perished on the walls via laser. The most emotional show I've ever been to by a long shot & pretty sure there was not a dry eye in the place. These guys are the real deal in my book!
@@benshafer5198 wow, that concert had to be so emotional! I love that the whole group fight and stand up to injustices and such. They absolutely are the real deal, I agree! 👍
This is my favorite song of U2 and one of my faves of all time. Sends chills when they speak about MLK and the day he was murdered...they cannot take his Pride. This tribute to him is just beautiful! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m always amazed at how well Amber picks up on the lyrics and meanings of songs. Most of the songs they listen to I know the lyrics and what they’re about but I sure didn’t my FIRST TIME listening to them!
I met Mr. King once back in the 80s when I interned at a radio station and my boss took me to the show. We hung out with him and his band afterwards and he was so sweet and kind. And, as you said, he sure could play the blues.
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "Two Hearts Beat As One" and "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" !!! Thanks for doing this one!! edit - Amber, you got the April 4th/Memphis reference immediately ❣
“Rattle and Hum” is a documentary about U2 released in 1988. In the film and the double album released after, the band sings “Still Haven’t Found…” with a gospel choir. Find it! Listen to it! Love it!
I was 15 when I first heard this song on American Top 40. From the beginning when the guitar sounds like a bell tolling, Bono's compelling vocals and the guitar solo that sounded like nothing I'd heard before. I was electrified!
Amber you hit upon it perfectly: This song is about individuals who, yes, can be taken down, but their message of love goes on. They stood proud; they spoke truth to power and resisted. A U2 song with a similar theme - sung not about the people who resist, but TO the people who resist - is a lesser known song called "Walk On." It will raise your spirits.
Amber's on it. And MLK's message was so strong because of the non-violent peaceful resistance. This was VERY IMPORTANT and it changed hearts and minds.
It’s a great look into what it means to be Irish. The poetry and music is just them trying to explain a feeling we can’t get. U2 is a high school band from dublin that just worked. Despite the atrocities many of us papists still root for the church to find a better path. Bono’s catholicism is inspiration for a huge part of songbook.
It warms my heart as a U2 lifer to hear U2 newbies get it right away and appreciate not just the performance and talent but the sincerity and love in their music. So happy both of you enjoy U2! I just discovered your channel. You are both genuine and fun. Much love. Keep it up. You have a new fan in me. 🙂
OMG flashbacks. Feet up on the balcony with a beer in my hand overlooking the yaught club with "Joshua Tree" album playing in the background. Such great times. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
This was on their 4th album "Unforgettable Fire" released in 1984. Impossible that it is 39 years old! This was the first song I heard by U2. I had heard of them, but in the days before the internet, UA-cam, and various music streaming the only way to hear someone was to go to the record store and see if they have a sample copy to play or wait for the radio to play something. I heard this song and knew right away it was U2 and was immediately a fan. Still am.
This is early U2 and I love this song! Martin Luther King Jr. is part of the songs subject “…April 4, shot rings out in the Memphis sky, free at last, they took your life, they could not take your pride”. and I was so impressed by that as a young black girl in the eighties! It always makes me tear up! I believe he was also referring to Jesus early on when he said “one man betrayed with a kiss” when Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek as a signal to the soldiers to arrest him!❤❤
This video is possibly their biggest love letter to their home town too, with all the shots of the working class areas of Dublin. I also love the hunger you feel coming through the speakers - this is the U2 that were still on the relentless cycle of small gigs trying to make it work. In fact this was their first ever #1 (in New Zealand! It didn't even hit the top in their native Ireland and only got to #33 in America where they were almost completely unknown) and they were still 3 years away from their first US #1 at this point.
Great reaction you two. A meaningful song from U2. Amber was spot on. A life is lost ... but the message (love) is still received. Someone suggested "When Love Comes to Town". A great one they performed with the legendary BB King. Rock and blues come together.
I doubt that any others will recommend this song, but U2's Mothers of the Disappeared from the Joshua Tree album has startling and heartbreaking lyrics and music. It shows what the band could do when motivated to send an important message.
It's so hard to listen to, truly haunting and heartbreaking. Running to Stand Still is also a masterpiece (and also tragic). They were never quite a rock band the way we think of rock - they were too political to fit that mold
For a while back in the 80s they were the biggest band in the world. I remember the hype going to the 'Love comees to town' tour concert with BB King opening. It was huge. A great concert too.
Larry Mullen, Jr., is one of the strongest drummers in rock, and this song is an example. Adam Clayton on bass rounds out the solid foundation underneath The Edge's brilliant guitar work. And what else is there to say bout the powerful, soulful voice of Bono. Such a great song. Hoping you'll get around to checking out "Bullet the Blue Sky" sometime in the future, but I'm happy to see you reacting to this too!
Bullet the Blue Sky is one of those rare songs where I don't care if they do the album version or the live version. I'm usually 100 percent behind studio when it's a first time listen to any song, but the live version is just as polished and has plenty of added live energy.
Edge's brilliant guitar work? Are you kidding me? The dude has 2 tons of effects to make his sound. Watch It Might Get Loud. That tool is completely useless without a semi loaded with electronic assistance. He looked like a toddler when he played with Jimmy Page and Jack White.
@@rustyshackleford1507Eh, he doesn’t want to sound like anyone else and he made a lot of money doing it. I don’t like to sound like everyone else either and I tend to use a lot of effects. Granted, I play in my living room, but finding simple things that go a long way on the guitar is pretty tough within a band. I used to cover GnR and Metallica and they’re great and all, but U2 probably wouldn’t have gotten the attention they did if they sounded like everyone else.
I can't believe you haven't listened to this before! Many people would consider this U2's signature song. It's absolutely amazing. I'm glad you picked up on the MLK Jr. references, Amber. And Jordan -- the "one man betrayed with a kiss" references Judas' betrayal of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
For timeline purposes of the reactions so far: Year - Album: Song(s) ‘83 - War: Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day ‘84 - Unforgettable Fire: Pride (in the Name of Love) ‘87 - Joshua Tree: Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You ‘91 - Achtung Baby: One ‘00 - All That You Can’t Leave Behind: Beautiful Day ‘04 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: Vertigo ‘05 - (Mary J Blige): Breakthrough: One (ft. U2) I hope to report back from the U2: UV Sphere show in October to all the RSR fam that can’t make this (going to be epic) show. I cannot wait to see Amber and J do some U2 live performances of these and other classic songs (Bad from Live Aid, I Still Haven’t Found… from 360*, etc.) to get the live appeal for this iconic band. I will update the list as they do more U2 reactions so that we can all have a timeline of the songs (enjoy them somewhat jumping around the almost 50 yrs of U2’s existence).
I am a history teacher and I ALWAYS PLAY THIS SONG when I teach about Civil Rights. One of the most powerful songs ever written. There are a few other songs by U2 as well as some other groups that I will play for that Unit as well as when talking about the Berlin Wall. Powerful, POWERFUL stuff. Kids today, and even adults in their 30s and 40s don't get this stuff because they didn't live through it. LOVE THIS CHANNEL and LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!!!!!
This song is about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr but it's also about a second person, Jesus Christ. Bono said once that Dr. King and Christ are his biggest heroes he would like to have been able to meet.
"Shot rings out in the Memphis sky. Free at last. They took your life, they could not take your pride." Makes me tear up and gives me chills. Every. Single. Time.
Early morning April 4th, a shot rings out in the Memphis sky, Free at last, they took your life, they could not take your Pride. So powerful, the radio stations use to play this every MLK day in his memory. I know ya'll don't do very long videos but I Highly recommend "Bullet the blue sky" live iin Paris, just knowing you two I'm sure will leave you speechless. Great reaction as always from you two.
I remember seeing U2 live in Sydney in 1989. What a concert! Even before anything happened on stage there was a real party feeling in the crowd with seemingly everyone there singing along to the music being played over the pa...giant beachballs being thrown and bounced around the arena...more Mexican waves than the beach at Cancun...just a fun atmosphere! B.B.King and his band opened which was incredible. B.B. later joined U2 during their show for Love Comes To Town. U2 did a fantastic set, playing all their old (then current) classics. They finished the concert with Pride (In The Name Of Love) and when they started it the roar from the crowd was just incredible. A physical thing. To this day I've never had another live music experience like that concert. It's something I'll remember 'til my dying day.
Thank you so much Amber for catching that reference at the end that every American should understand. You've no idea how many reaction videos miss the point of the song and who it is dedicated to. "Free at last" and "they took your life" should be a dead giveaway.
Only reactor so far to get the MLK reference. Kudos. I love how you pay atention to he lyrics. So many reactors throw shapes and smile, trying to draw the audience in. I like you. I think you are for real..
It is impossible for me to pick a favorite U2 song. I have favorites. This is one of them. Interesting short story from SongFacts: U2 began their Joshua Tree Tour in Tempe, Arizona, where the governor was opposed to Martin Luther King Day being made a US federal holiday. By the time the band headed back to Tempe to close out the tour, they were receiving death threats for supporting the proposed holiday. Things took a serious turn before their gig at Sun Devil Stadium when someone claimed he would shoot Bono on stage if he sang the King-inspired song. Bono recalls in the band's book U2 by U2: "One night the FBI said: 'Look, it's quite serious. He says he has a ticket. He said he's armed. And he said if you sing 'Pride (In The Name Of Love),' he's going to shoot you.' So we played the show, the FBI were around, everyone was a little unnerved. You just didn't know, could he be in the building? Up in the rafters? On the roof? During 'Pride,' I was singing the third verse, 'Early morning April 4, a shot rings out in a Memphis sky.' I just closed my eyes and sang. And when I opened my eyes, Adam Clayton was standing in front of me."
holy crap. i have been a fan since the War album, and i have friends who were at both the Red Rocks show for that album's tour AND at Sun Devil Stadium for this concert, and i've *never* heard this story before. whoa. Adam was ready to take a bullet for Bono... now that's real love and friendship there. U2 continues to inspire...
This song is the reason I'm a musician. I was 14 years old and in the kitchen making some breakfast one Saturday morning when I heard the opening riff from the guitar, went rushing into the loungeroom (the song was on the TV) and was totally mesmerised.
I love turning on this channel when I already know how they will react, I just knew if Amber would listen to the lyrics that she would melt, and she didn’t disappoint. Love these guys for bringing joy to us all ✌️
Modern U2 is a shadow of itself, but the young, fiery, angst riddled band was incredible and incredible to see live. I've seen them many times, starting in this era, but Bono is one of the few front men who REALLY, and I mean REALLY connects with his audience. It's amazing to watch him work the crowd in a live show. Pure genius. I've met MANY famous people in the world, including Beatles, sports figures, etc., and I always say if you could sit with one person and have a conversation, it would be Bono. He's an interesting figure.
I remember this being released in the 80s as a teen and all the fellas loved this and sang this when we rocked it out on our boom boxes at the yard!! ❤🎉🎶💯
Looking back at some of your older reactions I notice you loved Mary J Blige when she sang with U2. Can I make a suggestion of Mary J Blige duetting with George Michael on their cover of the Stevie Wonder song 'As'
At the line early morning April 4 shot rings out in a Memphis sky , Amber immediately recognised what it was referring to and her reaction was heartbreaking , bless her .
For me the best part is when Amber gets that the song is all about Martin Luther King Jr and seeing her face register that so freaking awesome!! I've watched other reaction channels and they are completely oblivious to him which is in a way shocking but typical of today. Anyways great moment and reaction guys!!!
Here in Brazil we have a quote "caiu a ficha" something like "drop down the coin inside of the machine". Amber's eyes when she listen to "Shot rings out in the Memphis sky" was amazing. In fact, you two are always amazing. And U2 too. 😅
Yes (and thank you!), it's about MLK. The line "one man betrayed with a kiss" = Jesus. You definitely should go back and listen again but listen to the LIVE version (I recommend the one from "Rattle & Hum"). It's amazing to hear 30,000 people singing along with them at the end. In fact, a lot of their live versions are even better than the studio versions in many cases. (And the line "early morning..." is a mistake, it was actually "early evening..." but we'll give them a pass.)
If I recall, towards the end of the song in a live version (probably that one), Bono says to the crowd “We’ve got the amps, you’ve got the numbers. There’s strength in numbers.” before having the audience join in the chorus. So empowering.
@jgreen6772 if I recall, Bono has said that he understands the mistake he made in the original with the timing of the shots ringing out, and in recent live versions he sings “early evening…”
Bono was a little kid when it happened. The Irish loved Dr. King and the news hit them hard. They all remember where they were, what they were doing, and what time they heard the news. In Ireland they heard it early morning when they woke up due to Ireland being 6 hours later.
"For the Reverend Martin Luther King: Sing!" My most favourite version of this song was always from their Rattle & Hum (1988) album. Because of the emotion in Bono's voice. To this day it causes a lump in my throat, and tears threatening to fall. Ta, for reacting to this heart-felt song. 💌
Why I love U2 - the minute you figure out what the song is really about. Watching Amber’s face the minute the penny dropped (Early morning, April 4, a shot rings out in the Memphis sky, Free at last, they took your life, they could not take your pride) and it’s like “It’s about MLK!” U2 is so great about getting a message through without you even realizing it. Would refer to Hands That Built America as another song like that.
Not only can these Irish lads deliver on the rock Every Single Time, but they are also true Irish poets. They just happen to set their poetry to music. They are truly gifted and iconic. My all time favorite band...and I have a lot of favorites.
This is one of their best from one of my all time favorite albums. I saw them live for the first time on the tour to support this album and they weren’t just good, they were inspirational. React to the entire Unforgettable Fire album, it’s U2 at their finest.
Great catch Amber "Shot rang out in a Memphis sky" always makes me cry. U2 started in Ireland as a Christian Rock Band. I have never heard of scandals of drugs, infidelity, or abuse. They opposed the war and during concerts called Pres George Bush II live on stage. I thought that was cool.
You should really check out Bob Gelolf (Lead singer for the band BoomTown Rat's) Their most famous song was "I Hate Mondays". About a 1979 mass shooting In a Cleveland "Middle School". He also played "Pink" in the movie version of Pink Floyds movie of "The Wall". As a fundraiser, Geldof organised the charity supergroup Band Aid and the concerts Live Aid and Live 8, and co-wrote "Do They Know It's Christmas?", one of the best-selling singles to date. This was in support of the poorest in Africa.
“Free at last, they took your life, they couldn’t take your pride”. Always gives me chills. Great song.

The MLK reference is powerful. Also, one man betrayed with a kiss. The best. Good catch Amber.

The various men referred to have never been identified for certain by Bono to my knowledge (although the last one is obvious), but given his personal faith:
"One man he resists" could be Gandhi whose non-violent resistance was famous;
"One man washed on an empty beach" is probably a reference to St Paul washed up on the shore in Malta after a shipwreck (but could be Jonah);
"One man betrayed with a kiss" is Jesus Christ, of course.
Great reaction to an awesome song! I would recommend "Angel Of Harlem" for a future U2 reaction!!
I totally agree and support/recommend Angel of Harlem - one of my faves
I saw them on this tour... I had floor seats and Adam Clayton's bass was so powerful it literally vibrated my chest cavity.
Really😮
He deserves piles of credit for his bass playing and anchoring the rhythm with Mullen jr, But Adam is never, ever mentioned.
For 36 years, my favorite song of all time has been "I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR". For whatever reason the lyrics & gospel influence speaks to me. Blessed to have heard this song at their concert. Bono & The Edge 🔥
That's my favorite U2 song also, and this is my second favorite.
Did someone say “gospel”? On their album “Rattle and Hum”, based on the eponymous 1988 documentary, they sing this song with a gospel choir. FIRE! 🔥
@@davidthaler7018 yes!! It's one of my favorite videos when they sing with the Harlem Choir. Talk about takin' you to church!!!
That relentless guitar... The classic sound of U2
We were listening to this my Senior year of HS in ‘85. It sounds as good now to me as it did then!
Goosebumps with this song right from the opening chords every...single...time. Such a deep banger! Love U2 💖💖😎👍
You should listen to The unforgettable fire and MLK both from the same album this wonderful song came from. I love early U2 🤟🏻
One of my favorite songs is one that U2 performed with the late, great BB King, "When Love Comes to Town". Man that guy could play the blues.
I met Mr. King once back in the 80s when I interned at a radio station and my boss took me to the show. We hung out with him and his band afterwards and he was so sweet and kind. And, as you said, he sure could play the blues.
This is one of my favorite U2 songs. It's so powerful! "I Will Follow" and "All I Want Is You" are my picks for your next reactions.
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "Two Hearts Beat As One" and "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" !!! Thanks for doing this one!!
edit - Amber, you got the April 4th/Memphis reference immediately ❣
Definitely will love that song 🙂
MLK was shot in the evening, but Bono, a kid in Ireland probably heard about it early the next day.
Yes, STILL waiting for "Two Hearts..."🤘🏻😎
I LOVE Walk one!!!
its written about teh asian woman ang sung suki who was under house arrest for over 20 yrs
another song written about one of Bonos heros Nelson Mandella is "ordinary love"
Amber's on it. And MLK's message was so strong because of the non-violent peaceful resistance. This was VERY IMPORTANT and it changed hearts and minds.
New Years Day and this song were U2 first two American hits.
'80s U2 was alt rock, post-punk. Great band!
Lot of their songs have deep messages.
This song hits 2 ways, my birthday is April 4 & MLK was shot on my 1st birthday 1968 ✌💖☮
I'm not a huge U2 fan but this song is so powerful. 💓
One of Bono’s best vocals.
Still am.
yes the album that got them on the map, then the amazing joshua tree that came a few years later made them supper stars and legends
I believe he was also referring to Jesus early on when he said “one man betrayed with a kiss” when Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek as a signal to the soldiers to arrest him!❤❤
Always loved early U2. The Edges guitar style was unique to him.
You guys should listen to I Still Haven't Found what I'm Looking For by U2
Unforgettable fire too,Sunday Bloody Sunday the list of great track is endless
Such an uplifting song about MLK & Jesus….saw em play this live a few years ago & the live version moved me to tears ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Larry screwed up his back from years of pounding the drums. It is painful for him to play now
Bullet the Blue Sky is one of those rare songs where I don't care if they do the album version or the live version.
For timeline purposes of the reactions so far:
Year - Album: Song(s)
‘83 - War: Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day
‘84 - Unforgettable Fire: Pride (in the Name of Love)
‘87 - Joshua Tree: Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You
‘91 - Achtung Baby: One
‘00 - All That You Can’t Leave Behind: Beautiful Day
‘04 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: Vertigo
‘05 - (Mary J Blige): Breakthrough: One (ft. U2)
I hope to report back from the U2: UV Sphere show in October to all the RSR fam that can’t make this (going to be epic) show.
It's about a lot of people. Not just those two
"Shot rings out in the Memphis sky.
I second this very strongly
ABSOLUTELY !!even the studio version of that song is awesome!!!
OMG yes. I hope they see this and do it.
The lyric is inaccurate. He was shot in the evening. 6:05 p.m. to be exact. Odd Bono didn't notice it was wrong when the song was written.
@@humphreygruntwhistle3946 because it was early morning on April 4th in Ireland when they heard the news
OMG I've been waaaaiting for y'all to hear this one! So glad Amber recognized the MLK reference. Gorgeous song
Thank you so much Amber for catching that reference at the end that every American should understand. You've no idea how many reaction videos miss the point of the song and who it is dedicated to. "Free at last" and "they took your life" should be a dead giveaway.
Amber’s facial expression to the last verse gave me all the feels. So emotional.
Interesting short story from SongFacts:
U2 began their Joshua Tree Tour in Tempe, Arizona, where the governor was opposed to Martin Luther King Day being made a US federal holiday.
Love these guys for bringing joy to us all ✌️
Well done you two and U2. Just subscribed. Have been watching these for a while. Your positivity is heart-warming. All the best, Paul from Australia
Requesting “All I Want Is You” because I don’t remember you guys doing that one yet 👍
Always good music choices from you guys!
Loved it in "Reality Bites"(maybe a movie reaction, hint-hint).
One of my favorite songs.
@@andyford8587omg, exactly what I came here to say!
"All I Want is You" is fantastic. I'd also love to see a reaction to "Bad."
@@poop_knife Both of those songs can bring me to tears at the right time...
Heard this a bazillion times and it still gives goosebumps
I remember this being released in the 80s as a teen and all the fellas loved this and sang this when we rocked it out on our boom boxes at the yard!! ❤🎉🎶💯
The fact that you got the meaning of this song still proves that the 80’s is still and will always be the greatest musical decade.
Looking back at some of your older reactions I notice you loved Mary J Blige when she sang with U2. Can I make a suggestion of Mary J Blige duetting with George Michael on their cover of the Stevie Wonder song 'As'
Sending hugs, Amber. This is a powerful song. Its' an emotional journey for all of us.
💖💖💖
At the line early morning April 4 shot rings out in a Memphis sky , Amber immediately recognised what it was referring to and her reaction was heartbreaking , bless her .
Gotta listen to this song on April 4th. It has a lot of meaning for that day..❤❤❤ U2 is awesome... Gotta react to All I Want Is You by U2
For me the best part is when Amber gets that the song is all about Martin Luther King Jr and seeing her face register that so freaking awesome!!
I've watched other reaction channels and they are completely oblivious to him which is in a way shocking but typical of today.
Anyways great moment and reaction guys!!!
Congrats on the 444k subscribers! A magical number for a magical duo! 💯✌️❤️🇺🇲🌟🌎🌍👏👏
U2 back in the day were their best music.80s..I feel they fizzled out after that
My favorite U2 era is from the album Achtung Baby (1991) and back.
You need to do their Live performance at The SuperBowl after 9/11.. it`s Epic !!! .. and This Song will always be important !! True Legends !!
By far the best Super Bowl halftime show ever.
One man crossed an ocean looking for another answer! Suddenly the biggest wave that he's ever seen before!!!
Here in Brazil we have a quote "caiu a ficha" something like "drop down the coin inside of the machine". Amber's eyes when she listen to "Shot rings out in the Memphis sky" was amazing. In fact, you two are always amazing. And U2 too. 😅
The English equivalent is 'the penny drops'. 🤗
@@anniebroadbent7961thanks!!!
I love the message, the history lesson, the spiritual lesson...strong music...U2 are it!!
Love how you experience music of my generation!
U2 are Irish hall of fameers in Irish music
BB King with U2 Love comes to town
Nice job Amber, took me a while to pick up on that line in the song -- and you did it on your first listen! It's my favorite lyric on this song.
Another U2 masterpiece.....Amber always seems to get it...❤
Bad by U2 at Live Aid is amazing. Also, A Sort Of Homecoming (Wide Awake in America version) are my favorites since 1985
Yes (and thank you!), it's about MLK.
"For the Reverend Martin Luther King: Sing!"
My most favourite version of this song was always from their Rattle & Hum (1988) album. Because of the emotion in Bono's voice. To this day it causes a lump in my throat, and tears threatening to fall.
Ta, for reacting to this heart-felt song. 💌
My favorite U2 song of all time and that is saying something!
Mine too.
Here too
“All I want is you” and “Red Hill Mining Town” are fantastic.
Great song. !! Thanks for doing this one. Great catch Amber as always. ❤
So happy you reacted to this - one of my favorite U2 songs! The Unforgettable Fire is also awesome - from the same album! ❣
My favourite song of all time.
“One man betrayed with a kiss”… is Judas betraying Jesus, and you got the Martin Luther King reference.
Well done guys!
