    One thing I wish they would fix is syrcus tower those triple stack markers that people stack sets a bad example so when this people get to fights where there are multiple stack markers they try stacking it and wipe parties. Some old duties influence really bad habits and need to fixed

      It truly annoys me how the endgame content for each expansion doesn’t follow the marker rules from the previous one, specially going from ARR > HW > StB. It felt even more baffling with the dungeon updates for duty support, but the old trials and alliances never had tank busters and stack markers unified - or at least differentiated enough.

      If you dont have a job stone equipped it should reduce your level to cap at 35. That gives you plenty of leeway to get your job stone after level 30. That way you straight up cant queue for anything beyond Sunken Temple without a job.

    • @AshleyVsTheWorld
      @AshleyVsTheWorld 2 дні тому

      At this point I think they should just remove the base jobs and equip everyone with their desired job stone at lvl 1

    • @Calvados656
      @Calvados656 2 дні тому +3

      @@AshleyVsTheWorld That would take a much larger overhaul than just capping class levels. They would have to give us extra bars to make up for what we would be losing, likely remove job stones as an item in their entirety since unequipping then would leave you without a job or class, replace or rewrite all of the early job quests and probably more issues than I can foresee off the top of my head.

    Training hall getting a makeover is years overdue and it being done in general is nice. Something else I'd like to see is players automatically upgrading from class to job at lv30 and instances requiring class /job quests completed up to queued instance level.
    Hall of the Novice is for many outlandish and obscure. This announcement too, will doubtless get flame from those waiting for viera and hrothgar hats

    I have made a macro to explain the orange stack marker since I have seen this so much misunderstanding in Praetorium, which might be the first instance of it. I only use the macro if we have runners or non-stackers. Some people are glad for the tip and others are just snippy. The Hall of the Novice should be incentivized before starting dungeons both for overview of mechanics and the understanding of roles.

    6:00 As someone who played wow when they added the mandatory proving grounds, it does not go well. I would love for something mandatory like this to be in place so everyone queuing has practice on it, but when they locked off heroic dungeons via finishing the silver tier proving grounds, the casual playerbase lost their collective shit. The silver tier wasn't anything insane either, it asked you to do basic things like repositioning, interrupting, killing the caster/healer mob first, cleansing/esunaing etc and so many players just couldn't do it. They whined loud enough and for long enough that blizzard eventually removed the requirement.

    I don't think it needs to be required. Some people are better at learning by experience. You can tell thousands of people how to do it, but some just can't understand it unless you see it. And this is not the ideal way. It is boring and doesn't capture your attention at all. I never did Hall of Novice when I first played and I did not struggle at all. A lot of people just don't need it. And if you force people to do it, many people will just zone out and do whatever as fast as possible. Hallf of Novice is already annoying because it takes an annoying amount of time to do it when I don't need it. People can watch videos on youtube and it will be much faster. You should never require something like this. Let's not forget that a lot of people who play the game, they aren't doing it for PVE and you shouldn't require a non PVE'r to do it. Many just buy boosts so they can RP or do other things that isn't PVE.

    People who are not new players often forget they cannot gauge new player experience. Practice will teach you something important not even experienced players learn: what you need to learn.
    You wont be successful in teaching something if the person in question is not aware it is important and new players wont know it until it becomes important TO THEM.
    One thing ALL MMORPGs are guilty of is sacrificing new player experience with a concept of fun that is not in everyone's mind: Novelty.
    If the game did not introduced so many instances in which you are taken from your character to perform "special task bar" or "vehicle combat" or other diverging gameplay unless you WANT it, people would invest themselves in the needs of a gameplay that is the core of their gameplay.
    You are tired of your routines ? Try another job, try "specific" non mandatory quests in which you are a vehicle, you are a NPC, you are a dog, you are a pile of crap, dont matter. But they should stop "multiplying gameplay experience" unless it is something people are doing for the sake of that experience.
    How would you really learn your class if you are required to do different things throughout gameplay, and then you are thrusted in a part of MSQ, or part of class, job, or role quests in which you have to not actually be your class, role or job ?

    I agree that there is not enough information for new players on how the game mechanics work and what they look like. I don't think they need to waste the man hours for teaching rotation. You can teach yourself the rotation by using a combat dummy. Read your "tool tips." Besides there is time when the rotation goes out the window. Remember the key is always "situational awareness."

    I'd like if this was something you could turn on on PF like duty completion. Still technically optional but I'd rather prog the encounter than prog basic mechanics. Perhaps they could include a few more things, like how to use interject and esuna. A group I was in once had to teach a tank how to use interject in Eureka Orthos on for 90ish floor. Plus it's always fun when you die to doom in Dun Scaith because neither healer uses esuna.
    I don't think it should be mandatory for normal content but I could see a case for it being required for extremes or higher, at least in the duty finder not including premade groups.

    • @8BitCerberus
      @8BitCerberus 2 дні тому

      Depends on how long it takes for the new ones. The level 15 ones only take about 15-20 minutes for all stages, per role, and any subsequent runs with another role (for their gear sets) is even faster because you can skip any shared stages that don't reward a piece of the gear set. If the lvl 49 stages take ~15-20 minutes per role, getting a full set of poetics gear might be a bit much.
      But I would like them to reward something for sure, whether that's a new glam set, or maybe a one-time ~500 poetics (roughly equivalent to a single MSQ roulette reward), or something else I dunno. Maybe another XP bonus ring that's good for up to level 80 or 90.

    Also let's be honest, failing certain mechanics was always a process of learning. How often did I feel so scared and embarrassed bc I had no idea what to do with certain markers or debuffs 😂 but in the end all of us learned. So why taking this away from newbies? The biggest defect the game has is that is has a rotation.
    We have have no battles. Instead we have boring pre-scripted dances that do not change at all between interactions. Instead of rotations we should have attack, defense and counter attack. Something much less predictable than doing the same bullshit rotation over and over.
    Heck the worse healers in the game are raid healers. They get too accustomed to pre-scripted healing that when they get into a dungeons they let the tank die. They are dancers. Not healers.

    Blizzard tried to do a mandatory 'learning tool' and it caused people to quit so much that Blizzard abandoned it after just a few patches. People shouldn't be barred from the game until they pass an exam. That's not how people want to spend their free time. It is very important to remember this is a HOBBY. No lives are at stake. Nobody is hurt by someone screwing up. This is just for fun.
    Forcing people to do it would be an ENORMOUS error. The occasional new player screwup is not a big problem - much better to not make people feel like they're second class citizens unless they pass an exam.
    Better tools for people to learn? Absolute win. Keeping them optional? Also a win.

    I don't think it should be mandatory.. Because there is plenty of players like I am who just mainly craft and gather, I could care less about doing dungeons, it's more of a necessity whenever they gate something behind them..

    I think people should learn to enjoy the game and stop running everywhere. Once you realize your not going tovwin the game it gets fun. Or maybe just go back to wow...
    Even better idea

    FF14 is already very easy game. Failing mechanics during leveling is never (on its own) a wipe or death. When you fail a mechanic on first try... you'll do it correctly on second try, during the same run. But as long as it's not mandatory, then I don't care that it exists.

    Or they can just lessen the amount of BS mechanics that bosses use. Having to constantly dodge overlapping AoEs of different shapes/sizes is not fun. Nor is it challenging. What is it? TEDIOUS. But I doubt SE will ever be smart enough to fix this problem.

    Sometimes I wish I could experience being a new player again. Knowing nothing bout the game.
