When you fight Promathia, Prishe runs out ahead of the party and calls out to the player by name, "Come on ! It's time to laugh in the face of oblivion!" Instant favorite.
Who is Prishe? I will tell you all you need to know about her: She looked a god in the eye and then dropkicked it. That's literally all you need to know to explain her entire being. She is factually Best Girl in _any_ Final Fantasy game.
Quick correction on Promathia lore: The notion that Promathia directly cursed humanity or that Promathia is trying to destroy humanity for their sins is a misunderstanding of the religions of the Elvaan. The enlightened races came about as a result of Promathia's death. The threat of the Emptiness endangered Promathia and Altana before the creation of Vana'diel. Promathia decided to take the Emptiness into himself and sacrifice himself to save Altana and the world. Altana could not deal with the loss of her beloved, so she split the Great Crystal, spilling it's light into Promathia. The breaking of the Great Crystal resulted in the destruction of the world of the gods and the creation of Vana'diel. The Crystal's light and the Emptiness in Promathia's corpse resulted in a new form of life: the Zilart, Kuluu, and eventually all Vana'diel life. The remnant of Promathia in Chains of Promathia still carries the god's original will: to take up all of the Emptiness and himself to save Altana and the world. But to take up all the emptiness into himself means the destruction of Vana'diel's life, because all life contains a fragment of the Emptiness. This pits Promathia's fragment against Vana'diel, or "the beloved of Altana against the children of Altana." There is something poetic and tragic about Promathia's story. Please Square, just give us a remake already!
If the event comes back it'll have to be retooled or more likely, they'll make an entirely new one with a call back to the original event if you were around to complete it. The reward minion is in the cash shop now. Shantotto does talk about her trip to Eorzea briefly in FFXI, so there is an angle for them to use to bring her back.
I know Prishe only from Dissidia 012 but that's enough to make me LOVE her! Not only her personality, but also being the elemental magic monk?!! THAT'S SUPER COOL!!
I've never played #ffxi, but I fell in love with her and her banter with Shantotto in Dissidia Duodecim. Amazing fighter in that game. I'm glad we're getting more FFXI love via FFXIV. Can't wait to see her in FFXIV.
I appreciate these recaps. I was 21 when I played FFXI back in 2003 so it's been a while since I played. I vaguely remember key parts of the stories but they are no more than flash backs at best. What I still remember vividly was the theme song. I believe it was called recollection. I cannot wait to hear Soken's version of it. I may even shed a tear if I hear it lol.
@@nightplaymc Honestly FFXI is still imo the most goat'd MMO of all time. Yes it was hard, yes it was frustrating, but my god did it feel satisfying to progress in. Nothing like current mmo's where they just push higher numbers endlessly with zero depth to them because they just removed all the actual RPG aspects out of them. I love FFXIV but i pray so hard every expansion that they actually add something interesting to the game instead of just higher ilvls and the same boring none dangerous zones.
Recollection is an Uematsu track. That likely won''t be changed. Things like the Shadowlord's music will likely get a Soken remix. Or Soken takes the high road and just takes the original tracks from XI and updates the instruments and leaves them be. He left the music for the Ivalice raids entirely untouched.
based on the way the raid is named i get the sense that we'll be exploring memories of alternate timelines of Vana'diel. Echoes of Vana'diel and the First Walk are both references to the Walk of Echoes, which is a part of a realm known as the Threshold. in FFXI this is where alternate futures deemed unnecessary are absorbed by Atomos and left. (for those familiar with MCU, very similar to the Void and Alioth). that said, multiple parallel timelines already exist within the cosmology of FFXI, so its not impossible that the events of this raid could be canon to an alternate timeline or echo of FFXI.
It gave me a lot of joy to see a Galka Mrhappy. I played XI long before I switched over to XIV, so these sort of cameo appearances and callbacks to XI, I totally love!
Something to take into account: In the past, other cross over events have used Abyssea's story and Prishe to tell the story of the Vanadiel that was swallowed by the cloud of Darkness after the failure of the heros. I also imagine based on the name, they'll use the "Walk of Echoes" to help with this. I think that Y'shtola will use a Atamos to enter the walk of Echoes, which we will stumble across the shadow prishe and the lost world. If you are curious, the event was called Mirage Minstrel, and Featured Prishe, Lilisette, and Iroha.
good i'm not the only one that saw that. there was just too much of a gap in time between ffxi and ffxiv that i missed that reference (if reference that was)

no mention of moon Prishe :/ could also be based on her timeline
As someone who knows nothing about ffxi, that was very hard to follow, you rambled a lot and named drop a lot of stuffs, still, i appreciate that youre trying to give context to the next alliance raids story, thank you.
❤❤❤
I do like her, and yea I finished Chains of Promathia last month as I am doing all the missions I kept on pause since... 2009, so her own story is still fresh in my mind.
I just hope a certain annoying kitten does not try to take all of the oxygen like she did for poor Kryle...
(also here hoping Shantotto and her stupid rich girl laugh will not appear again)
mr happy is a galka
also it's funny that tenzen is there.
jesus i haven't done chains of promethia in so long
I want her hairstyle
it's depressing that nobody remembers Dissidia 012
Square Enix has no idea how much money I would give them for a pc port of Dissidia 012. (I pretend NT ever existed)
I've got a XIV alt that's the FF1/Dissidia WoL and I was like "Oh shoot, I have to get him caught back up for the raid."
Okay there is... so much more about this character I feel needs context I'm so confused X__x
You aren't kidding. This video is a great intro, but it's barely scratching the surface of her position in the overarching FFXI story.
Brother... My ADHD is such a hinderance! I played the FFXI story recently (by which I mean like 3-4 years ago) and I remember NONE of this about Prishe. wtf...
WoG goated expansion
She so busted in dissdia 012 my main fr
Archi palago? What?
Prishe is a way cooler Alisae
Yeah and with Ulmia they really nailed the dynamic, really hope we see them both because the contrast is good
Tenzen....
I have to say, thank you for these videos, since I am 100% not going to play FFXI.
Honestly, that was my big issue with CoP. between the grueling difficulty of the content and how esoteric the storytelling was, I checked out by the time I got to three paths.
8:30 sounds like mabinogi irish myth lore
It's so weird hearing different pronunciations than the ones I've been using for 20 years for a game that has no voice acting, so every name is just the printed version, and no hints to the correct pronunciation are given in the text eg, rhyming their name with a common word.
Poor Prishe, being in 14 is gonna destroy her proactive personality
Sorry I rather have Shantotto and I know she was in the ffxi fate event in ARR but still. If she is not the protaganist then let her be the villian once more like the other two games. FFXI and FFW. :D
I hope it's a harder raid...I don't want to farm another snooze fest
please stay in your game ff14ers we dont want 11 turned into a casualized baby mode movie game like 14 did
Speaking as someone who played XI for twelve years and more, your gatekeeping game is weak.
Try XI if you like, people, it's had lots of QoL improvements over the last twenty years.
I am personally pist off I was hopping for ff9 but 11 wtf is this bs, so crap msq and now this ty Yoshi p
?? The FF11 alliance raid was announced like half a year before Dawntrail even came out lol
