Having worked at a Corvette shop I personally would put the original engine aside and use a different block. I would not modify my original block. I look forward to seeing your progress and the finished product.
If the top end kit produces 450 horsepower based on a 350, why alter the block to a 383? Do they not make a kit for a 383? Looking for a top end kit for my 350. Great video.
383 will give you more torque at a lower RPM. The 450 HP rating as set up by the manufacturers gives you all the HP at the very top of the rpm and would drive similar to the 5.0 coyote in a mustang GT where all the power is above 4500 rpm. We wanted to start turning the tires at will at 2500 rpm, more like a big block.
great build
great car nice info thanks
Good video guy's. Can't wait to see the end result!
Good stuff guys

It's only a 350 block.
I got a 427 motor I'm gonna put in a camaro for my daughter. Still gonna be alower than my fastback though. :)
Are you going to go with an all chrome engine or will you paint it up?

Wrenches & Rides Very Cool. Now will your 383 be a stroker motor?
Caveat emptor. Words to live by. Several years ago I bought a used Ram 1500 with a Hemi. I eventually had to replace the engine. Bummer.
Are y’all gonna use cast or forged crank , I beam or h beam rods
We used a forged crank from Eagle with H-beam rods. The rods we picked up were good for 700 Hp and we were only planning on 500-ish
