Just wanted to say I really appreciate the bit at the end of these videos where you add the instructions for reheating and how long they should last. Very helpful.
“Depending on how soft your sausage is, you may also be able to squeeze it out of the casing, but if it’s hard like mine, you will have to slice it.” Thanks for the advice, Jack! :)
LOL! I worked in restaurants for decades. Almost every conversation about food prep devolved into innuendo. My favorite was a base we made for Fruit Compotes, basically Simple Syrup which we thickened with Corn Starch. It was made in a large Steam Kettle, and more than a few times, a Waitress would walk by while I added the Corn Starch. Waitress - OOOH, what's that? Me - What does it look like?
I have just spent the last hour looking at terrible breakfast burrito videos. Then I found this one. Straight up, The Best! He's to the point. No extra BS. Shows you the video while talking you through it at the same time. Smart techniques and efficient cooking. I just subscribed, based on this video alone. Cheers!
I used to make breakfast burritos very close to this recipe for the SEALS that were on my ship. I'd make about 30, 2 burritos for each team member. Only difference is that I made guac w/ the avocado instead of just using the meat. And for the guys that weren't too keen on chorizo i used breakfast sausage. Wrap them up in parchment and then in aluminum foil to keep them soft and hot. The guys would load these bad boys into their utility pockets and they had a quick meal or two while out on training missions. I took care of the other 2700 sailors and Marines on my ship, my SEALS gratefully appreciated it.
Much respect to you! They sound awesome. I didn’t use guacamole as they won’t last the full 5 days of so due to the moisture but guac or pico would be delicious 🙏
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you! Oh yes, I totally see not using guac if thetes going to be anything over a day kept in the fridge over 12 hours let alone 5 days. But I guarantee you that the burritos I made had a "shelf life" of less than 30 minutes. lol. Being a Navy cook was the beginning of a 30-year culinary journey as a chef. I medically retired 6 years ago and really miss being in the galley. I'm proud of the food I've made for my sailors, Marines, and troops. Not taking anything away from the thousands of other people I've cooked for over the years. But my brothers are special to me.
Good bits: -Very tasty burritos fresh. -Putting them under the broiler is the best way to reheat. Bits that could’ve been better: -I thought I had sour cream, but I didn’t. Still good burritos otherwise. -I could’ve gotten either larger burritos or made more with the smaller ones I did buy. Which leads into my 3rd field: Straight up bad idea: -Making these in a coffee-fueled rampage at midnight when you haven’t eaten in 7 hours (I normally fast overnight). I couldn’t possibly eat all of them, but the thought crossed my mind.
Another delicious recipe! I've been binge watching your videos, and I really love the growth that your videos have had since you first started. They are so clear, succinct and easy for a home cook to follow. I wish you all the success, there aren't many channels like yours on UA-cam :)
I made these (sans cheese, I forgot it at the supermarket). Turned out great. I did try breakfast burritos on my own once, but I put jarred salsa in with the egg and they got quite soggy by day 2. Thanks for the recipe and video :)
These look great but i would skip the sour cream and just scoop some into a small boel to use as dipping sauce. Since these go into the microwave that makes the sour hot and i don't like hot sour cream.
Made these for my breakfast meal prep and tried one. Definitely doing this again cause its just delicous and so easy to prepare! Thank you for the video, my family and I love them!
Another quick, easy and delicious meal prep Jack! And great too see you crack 400k subs! Going from strength to strength with your no nonsense approach to the basics and beyond. Congratulations and best wishes from AKL. (PS I hope you recover quickly from C.)

This was great chef. I never tried avocado in my life so that was new. Replaced sausage with chicken as they were not available and followed your video and tbh it tasted good. Also it saved me time from everyday cooking which for student could be bothersome.
Nice to see a great breakfast burrito recipe that doesn't include black beans. Hi Jack, thank you for the recipe, it looks great. Quick question though, would you recommend freezing the burritos, and taking one out every morning, or just storing them in the fridge for the 5 days?
It’s a pleasure! It really depends on if you’re going to eat them everyday. I’d recommend freezing them if you know you’re not going to eat them all within 3 days. Even though they will last up to 5 days, they Will degrade and definitely won’t be as good.
Ahhhhh!!! I know that rooster sauce. lol love it! Great work brother. You are truly inspiring me. 15 vids in 30 days, that's awesome. Thank you!! sriracha sauce is great haha. It hard work pumping out so many videos but I love every minute of it. The more you upload, the more you have chance of getting recommended. I try to take bits from everyone and put them into my own style.
Pico de gallo would work really well. I deliberately stayed away from anything that will break down and leak moisture as these will decay very quickly if so. Fried eggs will last up to 5 days

Another great hit from your favourite chef, 'Ten Crack Jack' (Screams from the crowd, ladies fainting, strong men clawing at their bellies). I left out the avacado cos it's the fruit of the devil. Almost as bad as pineapple on pizza (but not quite).
These burritos are so good! Hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Ps, sorry if I look run down in this video, I have covid 🤘
Oh no you poor thing!

Of course! This recipe can easily be made gluten free using gluten free alternatives.
How to keep the avacados from turning brown in the fridge?
It will start to oxidise over time but with this covered in the tortilla it will prevent it from turning brown quickly.
A winner jack👏

Hi! Question. Won’t the avocado go bad?
How many takes did you do when explaining the bit about hard and soft sausages? Haha
Wouldn’t the avocados bruise or change even in the fridge or freezer? Would that affect the taste or texture?
Does the Avocado turn brown if you keep them in the fridge for a day or two?

This recipe looks amazing!! Though, I just have one question … does the avocado turn brown and spoil when left in the fridge for a couple of days?
Avocado doesn't spoil in two days, but yes, it likely will turn brown. You're not serving it as guac, though, so it doesn't matter.
Thank you! The avocado will start to oxidise over time but as it’s wrapped up tight and isn’t in direct air it will last a lot longer
Thank you both for your replies, it was very useful!! Chef, I hope you’re feeling better 😊
Lube then up 😂😂😂
Haha 😂
Yumo I'll do that for the misses and the hidden 20 cracks worth

Wouldn’t the avocados oxidize and become brown by the next day or so?
Not if it’s wrapped tightly

Wouldn't the avocado turn brown over time?
The avocado will always start to oxidise overtime no matter what you do but because this is wrapped tightly it will last the period of storage.

As it’s meal prep, don’t put salsa in these unless you want them to be a wet sponge 😊
