Yes, that’s the area but there’s no cover. There’s 2 buss bars. One positive and one negative. I was working on the alternator wire rub and tracing that wire back is where I discovered the issue. I was able to maneuver the wire in the wheel well and add zip ties to get it away from the tire.
Another item you should check out is the LPG switch. Ours failed last year on a trip because it filled with debris from the road and rotted out. It’s more exposed wiring.

It must be cheaper/easier to run the wiring outside. I couldn’t believe how much was under the van. I will double check mine and see if it still has a cover. If I remember right, the cover didn’t seem weathertight, more like just a barrier from touching the connections. It was clear. I wonder why they wouldn’t use something more weatherproof? My cable in wheel well has almost zero play but I’m going to see what I can do with it.

All great ideas, I guess I’m lazy and just depend on what the dash says for oil life and tire pressure. my sealants on the roof had a small leak, didn’t even notice looking at it until it rained and water was coming in around the vent. Now I always carry a can of liquid rubber. Where’s the next long trip ? I’m thinking of hitting up the souther states this summer.

Next big trip will be the eclipse this weekend. Although it’s looking not as big now since Indiana and Ohio are the actual best targets for us. I don’t think Maine is an option due to traffic. Before, Indiana was the first stop to evaluate next step. We will see though. Weather will change but we will stay mobile. I carry liquid rubber too. Just a tiny aerosol can. Looks like they will have storms in Ohio valley so hopefully no leaks.

Have you checked under the back of the van? I have a similar Thor van and have discovered that there’s unprotected 12v wiring connections. Does your van have the same situation?

I will probably look under there tomorrow when I take my cargo carrier off. Too rainy today. I feel like I have seen a spot where two wires meet at a terminal and it has a flimsy plastic cover over the top. Where would you say it was that you saw yours? I will be under there tomorrow if it dries out and I’m also going to reinforce the alternator cable in the passenger front wheel well that’s getting chewed up by the tire.

Checked today, I see what you’re saying. I had one bar with a cover still on it but a bar with 4 connections uncovered. Some oxidation. I have a spray, sort of dielectric grease, but more like wax that I use on my mower. I will give it a try, make a video. I also gained some slack in alternator cable by repositioning it under passenger door. It’s gonna be a couple days due to weather and working but maybe Friday I will fix them up.

I found buss bars at a local boating supply so I’m going to replace them with new ones that have screw on covers. I think that will resolve the issue.
