  • Video showing use of the WEN Generator DF450i with the propane hookup that is built into the 2023 Thor Sanctuary 19PT. Applies to other RV's as well. Using propane will be very useful in the summer months to help recharge the batteries due to air conditioner power consumption. Not very much propane is used during summer since the main function of propane on this van is for heat.

I saw that in one of your videos. Looks like an easy to move around generator.

Very interesting video. I have seen a similar generator at Harbor freight. I wonder though where you would store this heavy generator in
    your van?

In the 19PT floor plan it really couldn’t fit inside, at least not comfortably. It could sit on floor inside sliding door if it had to but not easy to get there. I bought a cargo carrier and will place generator on that. It’s only needed for summer camping and the storage box goes anyway for the outdoor stuff. I loaded it up in this video ua-cam.com/video/q92VkIg10o0/v-deo.htmlsi=Ar8RiwCTJT6grJUg

Yes I remember that trip and I purchased a storage rack from Harbor Freight that hooksup to the rear hitch but because of the Alluminess tire carrier it no longer that useable?@@jtbrv23

Thanks for the review and info. I see you went with the 12 foot propane hose? Do you think the 12 is still adequate or would you go with the 20' hose to get the noise out a little further from the van. Thanks.

I don’t mind the 12’ because I leave the generator strapped to the cargo carrier with exhaust pointed straight rearward. Noise isn’t too bad only because I’m using the generator for the air conditioner. Air conditioner drowns out any outside noises. But you’re right that I’m limited in distance because power outlet and gas outlet are on separate sides. Longer hose would be better to place generator on opposite side of van than sliding door and make camp side quieter.

I tested running my ac and plugged into normal house outlet and the battery was being charged. I think I could just get a 1000w generator and it would work?

My van hates house power from the normal outlet. I don’t know why, but my garage outlets are the surge protected style. Maybe the van pulls too much too quick and trips them. I would still want more than 1000W personally, maybe more like 2000W. If you do give it a shot then let us know because 1000W is much more portable.

@@jtbrv23 your house breaker box might have a 15amp not 20amp fuse. Of course you would change that to match in the van. The switch/fuse will have a number on it indicating the amps.
