Thordendal was a genius...nowhere i don't like his way to use his sense to Play...He's way in middle of Nineties was fine ,Melodic also strange at all....and metal too..a Real Genius at time of None (ep ) 1994 and This Magnificient, best album metal of all times Destroy, Erase,Improve...love thordendal as a one of my fav gtr players of all time..he's way to play Solos really Change my way of thinking about Music with No barriers....Nowhere i don't think he have the same inspiration although he reamain for me a genius in play gtrs...maybe the best one....Love
beh also a lot a band in the 90 use this kind of rytmich figure , king krimson of red play like this obsessive band , the swans , don caballero , first album of june of 44 the first album of godflesh use a typical athonal music .....some kind of solution may are typical of jazz and the avant grad jazz , noise music .....listen the typical band metal , dont seem like messugah
. . . they will have 5 heads, speak in tongues, and produce plastic shapes in the air before you. I say, re-think this (or ask Thordendal for permission, he's an alien).
after listening to this album again last night while playing Indiana jones on the Gameboy color, oddly enough, forgot how high the creep factor of this last song is.with one of the most chilling fade out's I've ever heard.of course I had headphones so that couldn't of helped diminish the nightmarish effect this track utilizes.what a way to end a brilliant game changing album!
Yeah! This part absolutely blows me away. One of the most powerful ones from Meshuggah plus it appears to be even more powerful because of the contrast to the rest of the song. Definitely the climax here.
3:03 I keep expecting him to scream "FINAL BURIAAAAAAAAAL!" Cuz surprisingly I actually found Final Burial BEFORE Id finished listening to this album so I heard the solo in its original incarnation off of that song first! XD
I remember watching this for the first time and I was like 'ahh this doesn't do anything' but now I'm watching it again and decided to look at the recommended videos on the side and... EVERYTHING WAS FUCKING MOVING MAN!
unfortunately they will never ever write a song like that. The feeling and athmosphere on that one is amazing. Todays songs from dat band are only brutal....
Yeah man, makes me sad, lol. A lot of their earlier songs were much more melodic and varied... hell, Contradictions Collapse was pretty much an off time thrash album, haha... I loved their old sound. The newer stuff is more about the rhythm than the melody and I just can't get into it.
Man all their EDI album and NONE album are like that. “I” and catch 33 are the most extreme versions of it, in a good and bad way(tho mostly good). And a little bit in Chaosphere & Nothing A song or 3 in the rest of their albums. To be honest as a whole I dont like obzen or kollasol, only couple songs are a marvel, and instances... The whole amazing shtick of meshuggah is how heavy they are, like truely heavy, heaviness that turn you into insanity. Of course brutality is also has to be high which what gives if power. But all their truly unique and head spinning songs are like that not because of the brutality... But because of their mind boggling back bone. Unorthodox rhythms, harmonies that still sound mesmerizing even tho they’re completely alien, the supposedly simple riffs that magically groove with completely different beats that only make it groove harder. And of course break downs that make your heart drop. That is pure meshuggah, that is why they called the heaviest band on eath.
One of my fav songs too. I remember when I first heard that last melody through my headphones it made me wanna puke. But yeah the image is trippy I had to rewind it to be sure I wasn't flippin out when that shit rippled!!
i would disagree they are not before their time. Its just a matter or time and schooling. these rhythms have been around a long time listen to Russian folk music.
LOL I almost busted out laughing when i looked at my chair. I starting getting bigger and bigger and bigger LOL! I wish it wasnt so dark in this room. I would love to do this outside. Fuck I need real drugs LOL.
>Looks at animation for 56 seconds >Looks away at the rest of the youtube page >HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUUUUUCK THE PAGE TURNED INTO WATER

1:54 -2:39 Jazz Metal?
awesome... I wish they'd incorporate more of these into their music
+skypjuh Alan Holdsworth all the way. Fredrik Thordendal was a big fan of him. He even used the SynthAxe and the breath controller at this time...

I find that part like an inspiration of "Personal Energy" by Pestilence, which is from 1993 on Spheres album
this song has the most beautiful solo ever.
old song so many levels .
@@neilmacdonald4913 indeed
Like Meshuggah isn't enough the video makes me trip even more..
I WANT MY CHILDREN TO BE CONCEIVED TO THIS
. . . they will have 5 heads, speak in tongues, and produce plastic shapes in the air before you.
I say, re-think this (or ask Thordendal for permission, he's an alien).
Did you manage to sire an heir to this mighty tune?
Those end chords are haunting. What a perfect end to this album
omg i love their old guitar solos = 01:53 nice warp
Wow, they went for 10/8 time signature on this song, instead of completely warping 4/4 like they normally do!
With the occasional forays into 4/4 of course. Meshuggah at their finest here, right up with Bleed and the Mouth Licking What You've Bled.
One of my absolute Meshuggah favourites...
Meshuggah: chaos, crazy, insane, madness, nonsense, irrational idiosyncrasy
that is the meaning of the word
man no other band could make something beautiful and hard at the same time like meshuggah, and the trippy video fits perfect,
after listening to this album again last night while playing Indiana jones on the Gameboy color, oddly enough, forgot how high the creep factor of this last song is.with one of the most chilling fade out's I've ever heard.of course I had headphones so that couldn't of helped diminish the nightmarish effect this track utilizes.what a way to end a brilliant game changing album!
think this is their most psychedelic song and one of the best for me
I love the red interlaced with the black and white... very beautiful to see it dance around like that.
They should use this as the official music video.
Allan holdswotrh influence
Awesome song. If you look for at least a minute and a half and look down at your hand it will look trippy!!
the lyrrics is SO good and relevant to the music. And they should really play this song live!
MAN i love meshuggah.. :)
my favourite songs from meshuggah ,so tipical within influences of jazz, atmospheric,techno-thrash!
i like the part where my mind gets broken
Yeah! This part absolutely blows me away. One of the most powerful ones from Meshuggah plus it appears to be even more powerful because of the contrast to the rest of the song. Definitely the climax here.
@AntsOfTheSky720 Probably the first band to play avant-garde metal which not many people know they play.
try staring at it through the whole video without blinking....everything is so wavy
3:03 I keep expecting him to scream "FINAL BURIAAAAAAAAAL!" Cuz surprisingly I actually found Final Burial BEFORE Id finished listening to this album so I heard the solo in its original incarnation off of that song first! XD
dude u literally took the words out of my mouth, i hear so much of his influence in their music
Arguable. Ritual has a solo that is probably just as good or even better.
i feel like im high and my hand looked weird when i looked at it
Outro I think is either inspiration of or for one of the sol Niger within pieces
I remember watching this for the first time and I was like 'ahh this doesn't do anything' but now I'm watching it again and decided to look at the recommended videos on the side and... EVERYTHING WAS FUCKING MOVING MAN!
Imagine playing Backrooms with this song in the background...
unfortunately they will never ever write a song like that. The feeling and athmosphere on that one is amazing. Todays songs from dat band are only brutal....

Right, this one is a masterpiece. And none of my friends understood its genius back in the days...now they now...
90s Meshuggah is still the bomb! 🤘
Man all their EDI album and NONE album are like that.
“I” and catch 33 are the most extreme versions of it, in a good and bad way(tho mostly good).

one of the best guitar solos I know.
One of the best albuns of all time...
The solo... Beautiful.
@AntsOfTheSky720 What's more is that they don't even think it's that complex... Haake is the definition of modesty.
Reminds me of an Awake-era dream theater
Riemann Zeta Function in Music ;O at 2.39 sounds like the Beast itself
i love the way shit looks after watching this
After staring at that zebra mind fuck picture the suggested videos bar was all wavy
@DrummersRock23 Everytime I blink I see a... star shaped thing... trippy... dot..
One of my fav songs too. I remember when I first heard that last melody through my headphones it made me wanna puke. But yeah the image is trippy I had to rewind it to be sure I wasn't flippin out when that shit rippled!!
@007Pogo
They really do need to bring back these solos ;)
i would disagree they are not before their time. Its just a matter or time and schooling. these rhythms have been around a long time listen to Russian folk music.

I was talking about Suffer in Truth.
If you look like 1 min your eyes will fucking zoom on whathever you look at that's fucking sick !
Their best song...
Just say MINDFUCK. Even if you close your eyes.
Is it in 5/4? I will have to do a check. I had assumed it was in 4/4.
I love how DEI is influenced by Cynic
woah awesome
hey guys look at the center for like 2 min and then check at something else like for exemple a pen on your desk ... give me some news !!
Stare for 5, then look around the room.
shit 1:20 fucked me up i was totally tranced out
It sounds like you're just trying to dimish the music. You need to grasp the full scope of the music to make a statement like that.
mind control video?
fuck i tripped dude haha
that is cool
Fuck! My curtain is moving...
I tried that....now I have no eyes.
@scratchneck I thought you didn't copy and paste comments? HYPOCRISY IS FUN!

Wait, do you know what you're quoting me on?

I know why, because it has an easy to follow 4/4 beat. That's what you should stick to.
