Just a word of caution: my puppy had the same kinda name tag and it got caught between porch floorboards and almost strangled her. I highly recommend name tags that can be sown into the collar. Pilot is adorable!

I don’t know how a gal so young can be so wise and insightful. I actually cried when you talked about time, about enjoying each day with Pilot as she won’t be a darling puppy( early mornings and chewing not withstanding ) for much longer. We are always looking for the next thing. Sometimes I just wish I could carry my 6’1” son to bed like when he was a little boy or hold my daughter in my arms when she so needed me and wanted that security and love.
We don’t have control over things like that but you reminded us all in this video to live in the moment, live each day , love unconditionally and don’t wish for things to hurry up. Thank you…..

Learning to live in the moment has been my mission in 2022. Spent almost a decade living for the weekend and although I love memories in that time, most of it was miserable because of my attitude. I love this video because its a great reminder to love where you're at in this moment knowing as long as you want more, and can balance both appreciation and motivation for progress, than you will someday end up somewhere amazing

Great video. The ending brought me to tears as I reflected back over the last 2 years of our many life changes. We lost our mothers a year to the day apart so all parents are gone. Sold out childhood homes. Sold the home we built. Moved to a new city. Lost a friend. Brother fading fast needing a kidney.
I say celebrate and enjoy every moment and take time to give thanks.
    Your pups are cute.

Elsa’s message about not ‘wishing her life away’ brought tears to my eyes. I struggle with not worrying about the future, and always thinking the grass is greener. Being in a life stage where my life does not look at all like I had hoped or planned, maybe that’s ok if I can learn to live in the present. I also just want to say congrats to you both, your love for each other inspires me and gives me hope that one day I might find one like it too.

I'm 58, all 3 of my kids moved out, and I'm moving to another town to stay with my sis for a minute...I'm going thru "empty nest" and losing everything we accumulated over the years, all with memories and nostalgia attached. I'm going to live out of a suitcase and do some couch surfing. I have been watching your forest family for the last 4 years with much gusto and love for your life's goals, philosophies, and your amazing ability to make family wherever you go! Your videos give me a warm feeling that I haven't felt for a long while. I resonate so much with all you're saying right now. I learned to “live in the moment” when I was told on July 4, 2007 I had leukemia and my sibs did not match me and no bone marrow bank had match for me either. I knew then I might be out of moments. A friend that had died years earlier from pancreatic cancer had told me that she wished she had all of days she had wished away by saying “I wish today was over”. I had carried that with me and I never wished a day away, but in my own reality, I was not living in the moment and in my own way, I was indeed wasting time. My own cancer diagnosis was a wake up call and I’ve never looked back. You guys are way ahead of the game by appreciating the life you live. Kudos and much love.

Wow…she’s really coming along…when my dog Lola was young…I’d take her on mini bike runs…only short ones until her body was fully grown…as too much exercise can affect later life. However…she loved it. I cycled…she ran…and still does…it was a great way to burn off some of that puppy energy…and excellent for training her when she was contented mentally and physically. She is 5 now and is so well behaved…mind you, I spent the first two years right by every stage of her growing. She is now a confident, well balanced dog. So proud. I’m sure pilot is in the right hands. Enjoy. ❤

I'm in my very early stages of 60s and I think of all the time I've spent looking forward to this or that milestone in life and you're so right...we wish our time away. Some not so kind things have happened over the course of this life of mine but I wouldn't change a bit of them as I couldn't be who or where I am without each of those layers, and truly things could've been so much worse. I'm humbled and grateful to be exactly where I am. Hope you had a refreshing time away.

This video brought me to tears and resonated with me on a personal level more than any of your other videos. I often find myself thinking “If my husband and I were in Elsa and Barron’s situation, building a humble home on our own land, I’d be happy.” But things and situations can’t make you happy. Happiness is a choice. Right now I’m feeling stuck in a big city, a small apartment, and a stressful and time consuming job. The past few months have flown by and I catch myself wishing this time of my life away. Thank you for your insight that these thoughts happen to us all, and we all need reminders to live in and appreciate the moment, because every moment, good and bad, is fleeting.

I think we so often forget that TODAY is really all that we have and we miss it when we wish it away by looking or hoping too much for what the future will bring or pining for the past. Wished getting through college went into wished getting a good job that i am unhappy with went to looking forward to retirement in 10 more years. The last 20 years went by so quickly and I dont feel like I am where I want to be. My kids are just at that point where they dont believe in Santa. I feel like I might have missed something important because of constantly thinking forward.
Family history imdicates that i might not make it past 65. Time is escaping me.

Elsa Rhae, great video on spending the "Now Time" over the old time or/and future time. You're so right, once it passes, it's gone; unless you've got pictures of the certain "Time" but then those picture have the same, a pass and a future. Pilot will never never be the same, except maybe some new mannerisms, but they too will disappear into mature mannerisns.
    A puppy
    The delightful times
    Times when he stomps
    Times when he whines
    A puppy
    Exploring new mounds, out abounds
    Appearing lost, searching the way
    Always just a bark away
    A puppy
    Delight's upon his eyes
As his nose, finds that scent
    To reassure him, he's home
    A puppy
Keep up the work on the cabin, it's turning into a livable piece of art.

What poignant insights you shared at the end. Seriously had me tearing up. It’s like that with children too, as you can imagine. My kids are young adults now and I’ll occasionally have dreams of them being wee ones again and I wake up bereft because that time is gone and I can never get it back. Let me tell, you, it was so hard with 3 little ones and I would find myself dreaming of when I wouldn’t have to change diapers anymore or when I wouldn’t have to tie shoes anymore or when I wouldn’t have to drive them around anymore, but somehow I would snap myself back to the now and realize how fleeting time is. Dream of the future but live in the moment as much as you can. It can be so hard, but you’re already seeing the importance of doing that. So much love to your family. I can’t tell you how much joy I get from your videos.❤

Beautiful beautiful beautiful! We can relate to this on so many levels. Been wishing away the time for our truck camper Reno to be finished so we can hit the road and explore. Just ready to have our home. You two work so hard. It’s also these moments of building that are the best memories.

Yasss Elsa with the reflective voiceover! The result of contentment is total happiness. Time can feel scary and fleeting and then you take a deep breath and look around at all you have and its just that - all you have in this very moment is all that matters. Savor it! Thanks for the reminder.

I hear ya on time. It changes every second and some memories are savored. It seems similar to driving a car, we must keep our eyes on the windshield with only brief glances in the rearview mirror at the past. Tomorrow will come and change is certain. I love watching your two pup babies. It was a great idea to stay at the hot springs. Oh, I almost forgot. We have.a well and use pool noodles over the hose to prevent frozen water from blocking the flow of water. Our water froze in the lines coming out of the ground too. Yes, it's now snug and flows well in a pool noodle.
