Look at the big brains on ELSA! .22 for drainage holes! Nice work!
‼️🧠 ‼️
Yeah, I loved that. Barron: "how bout we punch the holes?" Elsa: silly man! we got guns!
I thought the same thing!
No way Elsa you're awesome on the banjo!!!❤ I actually thought it was like some background record playing until I saw that it was you😊Elsa is there anything you cannot do??? Elsa you're amazing... Banjo player.. jewelry maker... Motorcycle rider... Gun shooter... Burrito and great cook maker...what??!!... Now leather maker for knives...God made you very special... you're with a really great guy too...love you guys 😊❤
I’m learning!! Thank you!
she’s also a VERY accomplished crocheter
She plays a mean ukulele too!😊
True 👍 deliverance
I think Elsa Ray
Is amazing
FUN that you can provide your own soundtrack! Also, my condolences on the loss of your friend, Elsa.
Thank you❤️🩹
“What about the .22?” Yassss, Elsa, way to work smarter, not harder, girl! 💪
Darling human, I also went through this - at the age of 50, I lost my lifelong BFF. It hits at different times throughout the years. Recently, a friend of the hubs had similar, and it was triggering. There are going to be hard times with this throughout life. But you aren't alone. And you are an amazing human. I don't know what I am trying to say other than, we're out here kid and we care about you.
Regarding folding multi-tools, I saved a White-tail Buck that had gotten his rear hoof trapped in a wire fence. As I was exiting my property I was opening the gate and noticed the Deer hanging upside-down from the fence. At fist I thought it was dead, but then saw him moving. I ran down and sort of freaked him out, so he started baying like a horse. Once I assessed the situation (his hoof had gotten between the top of the fencing and the barbed-wire strand at the top of the fence) I deployed my Gerber-tool and began cutting the wire strands that were trapping him. After a minute or so, he was free and sprinted off, although hobbling a bit on that right-rear foot.
Two days later, my guy greeted me in the orchard just down from the house. I knew it was him, because he was favoring that right-rear leg.
Since then, he greets me every morning and in the evening.
The last portion of this video with Baron doing voiceover while Elsa created the sheath, especially her layout on the cardboard, was really well done. Great job on the drainage holes also. That was a stroke of genius!
If you can score a kids old trampoline frame, you can make a critter guard greenhouse for your planters. Turn the tramp upside down. Cut the ends off the legs exposing the hollow. Ram 8 ft pcs of conduit into the remaining aluminum leg tubes. Fasten the conduit at the top to a small circle. It will form a dome-shaped cage. Cover with chicken wire. Add a door.
That’s an amazing idea!
Right
Since the end of covid I’ve stopped watching most channels that were living a transient lifestyle. I love your channel more than ever though. I absolutely love your self built home, your yearly practice at gardening and your massive talent at most everything you do. It’s also super cool to see the community you’ve built around yourselves. I am also a massive lover of indoor and outdoor plants and gardening and I could literally feel your excitement when you were planting your starts. It’s all so great!
Food, gardening, and leatherwork all in one video? I feel like I’m watching my own life being lived in a much cooler place by much cooler people 😂 absolutely love it! 🥰
OMFG...the 22 drill is the best :)
Quickest!!
Very interesting video. Love watching you work with leather. My condolences on the loss of your dear friend. May they rest in peace.
Thank you❤️🩹
I love the fact that you guys don’t have TV on and you’re doing things together. My spouse is not handy really in any way other than cooking. I love this lifestyle, but it’s not the same when you can’t do it with your partner. I love your whole vibe and the aesthetic of your new home. You’re just so much fun to watch.
I love seeing more of your artisan lifestyle; cooking, leatherwork, topography...its all great but its so cool to see more of who you guys are in the "making"
Glad you like it!! Thanks for watching!
The banjo and the breeze through the seedlings and the sleeping dogs...
LOL! Shooting holes into gardening trough!
It worked!!
Absolutely loved the banjo, hope yo hear more of it in your videos 😊
More to come!
Please knife nerd to your heart’s desire. Perfect voice over while watching Elsa’s leatherwork. You’re spot on with regard to those that don’t enjoy knives or use them understanding the interest and pleasure in the discussion of, about, and using a bladed instrument.
It’s not easy to get music from a banjo’ I am very impressed.
I’m learning the clawhammer style!
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I find moving my body always helps. And dogs!🤗
😘
Great banjo playing Elsa! Keep it up. Hope to hear more of it in your future videos.
I’ll play more as I learn more for sure! Thanks for watching!
Elsa Rhae really is the star of this episode. I laughed out loud when she shot those holes in the metal barrels, and I oohed and ahhed at her leather working skills. The banjo playing was just a treat!
Elsa! You did that!! Good job! Barron she's a keeper
I love how Pilot brought a big stick with her on the morning walk
Use the bags for planting you zucchini squash and cucumber
So sorry for the loss of your friend. I’ve lost neighbors and friends that same way many times and it is so hard and confusing. It’s so hard when it’s from natural causes, illness, accidents, etc.
Else when I use to have to sew leather I always used metal sewing thimbles for my ring finger to help push the needle through, it helps a lot!! We each have our own systems. I haven’t done any leather work since my dad passed from cancer exactly 16 years ago on June 23. I still have his leather tooling template for leather tooling. He taught me the leather stitching too but I just don’t think I can do that without him and his help!! He made so many leather things from billfold’s, belts, purses, checkbook covers etc. my job was always to repair the stitching when it wore out and restitch all of the leather gloves etc. Everything building, woodworking, leather and Industrial Arts reminds me of my dad.
Love watching your build and all of your other projects!!!
Blessings to you guys!!👫🐕🐕💚💚💚
Elsa, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Sending you hugs and love from Louisiana tonight. ❤ I'll have to come back later this week to say more-just know someone is praying for you in the meantime. Love to your entire sweet household.
Keep up the practice
Elsa!! The banjo sounds good!! The progress on your homestead is chuggin
along..
You got this ...
Lots done n more
to do....!!??
👍🐺🧙♂️🤙
LOTS more to do, you're right!! Thanks for watching!
using the .22 was the best idea
I love ur idea for ur garden and teaching urself the Banjo is amazing, Camp is the sweetest and Pilot is really learning to be more patient.
Knife nerding is a good part of any episode.
Never underestimate the returns on small healthy things you do routinely over the decades. For some reason we humans aim so high, do it for a few weeks, and then stop. (And the driven humans who can force themselves year in and year out, often die just as early from their intensity.)
If 2 miles is too hard to keep up, just a small morning walk outside is probably 75% as good.
Loved watching Elsa make the knife sheath while Baron talked about knifes. Art and information.
Elsa you are terrific at that banjo that sounded really good❤ were you playing the background music as well I knew you would grow beautiful plants all of them look beautiful❤ I hope your garden grows that was a good idea. I love the early mornings❤ pilot with those huge sticks😂😂 they are both too cute❤ the knife case is awesome I enjoyed this video. See y'all in the next one❤😊❤
Thank you!!
You can buy a steamer appliance that will heat up your burritos. I used to have one. Heated up the water really fast and had a tray that sits above the water. Heated up food in about 7 mins. Only 5 mins. more than microwave.
Interesting!!
Double boiler?
The fresh garden is going to love that fresh rain! We are still learning how to garden too, always new things to learn but having fresh veggies is the best!
It has been raining like crazy!! So excited! I don't think they liked the move but they're doing alright now that it's been a week or so!!
I love it when either of you geek out on products or systems you’ve found successful. Love it!
Great idea for your garden! Try planting really strong smelling peppermint plants in pots around your garden containers. Rodents hate peppermint smell and plants and these might deter them getting into your beds. They are very invasive tho, so you’ll want to contain the plants. Also, you sound amazing on your banjo, Elsa!
Knives, Flashlights, and watches are my weakness. I always carry a knife, its so damn handy! When I heard the banjo I immediately thought of the movie Deliverance.
Oster makes an air fryer oven.
Air fryer, broiler, toast, bake, and turbo convection.
Its something you could possibly use when solar is abundant.

I found walking to be my perfect medicine. Clearing the mind and soul and my private time to talk to my heavenly daddy. Your leather work and ring making are awesome! You're never too old to learn a new skill. I picked up the ukulele this year and I'm 67!
You guys have really worked hard & created such a beautiful space to call home! Love your plant collection 🌱
We love this home, thanks for watching!!
Wow that girl can play! You guys got the life!!
Thank you!! Learning!!
I love watching your everyday homesteading lifestyle now and how you make hurdles feel like accomplishments! I love your vid editing too! Banjo playing you do rocks!
I loved hearing you play the banjo Elsa!! One of my favorite instruments to listen to. 🤍 Nice job on Barron’s sheath. You are incredibly talented and I admire that about you.
Barron, thanks for sharing your love of a good quality knife. They are pretty cool and come in handy in many ways.
Also, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend passing Elsa. Sending healing thoughts your way. ✨🤍 Until the next video, have a fabulous week guys!
Making a house a home. Lovely.
Well No clue you played the banjo, and very well I might add! You should play for us more often. What a treat that was.
Thanks
Great video as always
I just enjoy your videos so much.Elsa I can listen to you talk all the time you're very interesting.Barron I love your laugh. You definitely have chosen the right lifestyle. 🙂🇨🇦❤
Nice banjo strumming🥰👏👏❤️
Thank you 🤗
Try use a slower RPM for drilling sheet metal like that. Wd-40 or oil is a better lubricant for drill holes in a application like that. .22 work good for sheet metal. Thicker gauge steel will require a .223.
Love you guys😊
Wow Elsa now the banjo and leather work. So much talent the both of you have.
I love listening to Elsa play that banjo…you go girl😊
Im so sorry for your loss Elsa😢. Your morning walks are an excellent way to promote healing in every way. The blessings will come. Sending you good loving vibes. Your banjo playing is such a great surprise! Banjo is such a happy sound!
Galvanized is a bugger to drill thru yes. Hello from the Flatlands of AB. Monty
Hello!!
Hi! A good and cheap way to keep way to keep birds, pests out of your little garden is to go to Walmart or material store and get a few yards of tule, the fine netting used for wedding dresses, etc. You can make a simple barrier with the tule and clothes clips. Hope this helps, happy growing. Patti
I LOVE KNIVES! I like knives that I use! No fancy stuff unless there is a reason or purpose for it. You've probably found him but Wil Stelter's channel is amazing.
Elsa playing the Banjo 🤘🏽 my grandpa played while me and my sis sang for him, oh the nostalgia. ❤
Is there anything U 2 can't do!
These are always so calming! I absolutely love the little life you've both created
Thank you so much!
Spotting a proudly South African plant at 4:40! 🤩🇿🇦. Portulacaria afra- which we locally call "spekboom".. Or "bacon tree" if you translate it directly. Bit of a wonder plant.
Submerge wrapped frozen packets of food in a bucket of cold water. It will defrost evenly and amazingly quick.
Absolutely awesome planter garden! I miss food prepping. I did quinoa, rice, chicken, & burger. It was a nice break from cooking a lot, especially in the summer. My version of warming foods is letting frozen chicken nuggets & tandoori chicken samosas thaw out since my jeep doesn’t have a kitchen. Enjoy everything around you! Love you guys so much!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
We have lots of stock tank raised beds. Purchase a step bit. Makes drilling those holes SUPER easy and much safer to do.
😊
Elsa I send you my deepest condolences for the loss of your friend. I think you did a wonderful job on the knife sheath. And you are great on the banjo. I love that instrument. Abbey the Spoonlady has awesome videos, she's the one that opened my heart to the banjo.
Thank you 🤍🤍🤍
Elsa you are so incredibly talented! Is there anything you can’t do?! What a joy you are to watch and so inspiring. You both are amazing.
You make great content and you are living one hell of a good life despite the obstacles. You two are mastering life. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love listening to Baron explain stuff.
Elsa Rhae, I don’t think you know how much your videos warm my heart, thank you ❤😊
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend Elsa. I’m glad you’re taking the time to put your own mental health and the forefront and nurture it.
Thanks for being the only youtuber I've ever seen that doesn't use some code word for suicide. I hate that. I think it's ridiculous they are worried about censorship for talking about a serious topic that is part of reality.
I’m so happy you like the knives! I used my WCSK on all my camping trips while out in CO. His knives are such good quality and I really wanted to send them to someone who would appreciate the quality and be able to use them to their full potential. Elsa did an amazing job with the sheath. I am so impressed by Elsa’s sheath making skills!
Thank you!!
Love pilot "casually" hanging around the burrito prep table 😂
For the frozen burritos, you could heat them with steam in a pot with a lid and a little water, and something to keep the burritos from sitting in the water. Once they are thawed you could brown them in the butter like you've been doing. That's what I would do. And wow, what a lot of work went into the sheath you made! You sure have a lot of skills and artistry, Elsa! Also, I'm so sorry you lost your friend. 🙁
I’ll try this!! Thank you!
After seeing your leatherworking efforts what I think was more than a year ago, I decided I could do it as well. I’ve since made a hatchet sheath, a coin purse and leather woodworking apron for myself, as I tend to ruin my clothes during glue-ups. People think I’m nuts, as I’m a single woman who pursues these activities, amongst others, but I am so happy I’m not too scared to try. Thank you for serving as inspiration, Elsa Rhae.
Every time you play the banjo it brings Elle to my heart. You’re really playing so well Elsa! ❤
Dearest Elsa and Barron, please get yourself an Omnia oven for reheating those burritos and so much more! Just last month, Girl Camper had a deal with Omnia in which you could get one for free. They are awesome. I've made Trader Joe's almond croissants in mine over a camp stove and they were perfect. There are tons of groups out there sharing recipes and ideas for the Omnia. You don't need to wait for an oven or an air fryer, when one little Omnia will do all that over your existing camp stove. PS. thank you for the joyful, finger-tapping music on the banjo!

Sell it Elsa!
Enjoyed this video because you included so many different parts of "life" - gardening, food prep, emotional healing, and creating a beautiful knife sheath! Loved the creative and fun way to get some holes in the garden beds 😂
Elsa so talented
OMG! Way to problem solve Elsa! Watching you shoot those tanks brought back fond memories of home.
Pilot's like gimme some more dad lol! nice skillz on the banjo Elsa, sounds dope!
I’m watching this and thought I’ve been cutting onions and peppers wrong my whole life. Good one.
Elsa, what a wonderful video today! I'm always so happy to see you guys! I'd love to live off the land like you,but I'm getting to 60 and don't think it will be possible. But I've been thinking about retirement and a Scamp could possibly be in it! Keep up the good work! And my condolences on losing your friend. I'm so sorry to hear it. Will be thinking of you and hope you continue on your journey of healing!
We met so many retirees who lived in scamps on the road!! I love that idea! Wishing you great success in your adventures!
I am a single mom of 3 boys (now grown). I also happen to be a chef. Needless to say, I meal prep, A LOT. I promise you an air fryer will change your life. I know you love your instapot. Get an air fryer. I hardly ever turn on my stove, I reheat everything in the air fryer. We do have a microwave, but it rarely gets used. Highly recommend!
I love watching you make stuff out of leather. I've wanted to try it and have a lot of similar interests to you Elsa and now I REALLY wanna try it.
Condolences on the death of my friend, I know how it feels to not feel like yourself, it really sucks.
A great alternative to an oven is to just use a BBQ and get a grill rack to lift the food up off of the grill/hot plate. Here in Australia it gets super bloody hot in summer, and so I roast/reheat outside all of the time using this method so I don't heat up the house.
Your personalities stand out in this video 💖 brings me SO much joy! Thank you for sharing😊
LOL@Elsa with a rifle blowing holes in metal. Could she be any freaking cuter.😂😂 Just when I thought it couldn't get any more terrifying seeing her drilling holes through metal, there she be Wild Bell Hiccup gunning for the fences. You guys are so the best. 😂😂
It’s the “what about the 22” for me. 😂 PERFECT
To make holes in my thick layers of leather i use a Dremel tool with a 1/16in bit. And you can sand the side of it as well. Works great.
You guys make my heart happy! Thank you for sharing your progress, encouraging others to follow their dreams. I always have a better day after enjoying a new video from you guys. Have a wonderful day. :)
I make sheaths almost exactly the same way you do. LOL! Same stitches, same glue, same burnisher, though I sand the edges to get them even before burnishing. I do have a couple of recommendations for you though. Rather than the hole punch Baron broke, there are hole punch sets that you hammer in. They are inexpensive and work awesome. Pretty hard to break, too. I also stitch with needle nose pliers, but I made myself a little pad for my hand that lets me push the needles through with my palm too. It's two layers of leather with a piece of metal from a car hood in the middle to keep the back end of the needles from punching through the leather. There's a strap for two fingers and another that snaps around my wrist to hold it in place. It works better than anything I've ever found that you could buy. Highly recommend.
I hope your garden does well. I have had a small garden every year for about 35 years now. I've dealt with rodents, horn worms, birds, etc. I picked my first basket of cucumbers ,peppers, and green beans today. There's something about growing your own veggies that gives that sense of accomplishment.
Great job on the banjo playing, burrito prepping, and leather sheath making. A Jill of All Trades.😊
So…y’all are my favorite video that is uploaded each week. A little happy celebration goes on inside me when I see you’ve posted! Have a great week.
Yay! Thank you!
Love it when you used the 22 to put holes in the containers!
Please put a little oil on the bit not water. It'll stay sharper longer and it dissipates the heat as well.
Yea, didn’t have oil handy, but did have my water bottle.
@@24barron use what got till you can get what you need. Like everything else in life. I always say. But the .22 was definitely the better way to go.
Such a great experience you all are having! I am pleased to come along. Keep at it!
The pots n metal containers look nice Elsa n Barron I enjoyed yoyr Banjo aging too Elsa ❤yummy 😋 burritos I want to meal prep too great jib you 2 ! On the plants! Lol pilit jumping fir the water awww good ol Kamp❤
Hey guys 👋🏻 Elsa, what u added to ur pots should work just fine 👍🏻 The only tip I would give ya is when watering ur garden , ya need to water ur soil and root area only. When u water from over the top of ur plants it will cause the sun to scorch the plant and it also attracts the bugs. Not only do the bugs eat ur plants but they also get to drink while eating them, LoL. U can also use cardboard to put around ur plants. At the end of the growing season I will put down cardboard to keep the weeds from spreading their dang seed throughout my garden. I hope ur garden is doing great for u guys , have a great wk. Hope these few tips r helpful 🫶🏻🙏
Great tips!! Thank you!!
Elsa you are amazingly talented!
I admire you very much.💖
Your planters are going to look amazing when the plants bloom. Beautiful knife sheath Elsa..
I’m so excited!
Your seedlings 🥹🫶🏻 how exciting!!!!
Yes!!
