- Kia has sold hatchbacks in North America for a number of years, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone willing to describe them as hot hatches.
Until now.
With Kia ushering in the second generation Forte5, it has brought along a new 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque.
Add in the SX trim's sport-tuned suspension, and the new Forte5 earns the hot hatch designation.

I have the 2016 and after six months ; no complaints. It's a great car.
Jack Cooper same thing here...don't regret my choice!
Underrated car.
Damn good review! Thank you.
Sounds way better than a koup. Should I buy a 2013 koup, a 2016 koup or a forte5 sx 2015+ ?
I have a 2015 Forte5 Sx it's an awesome car! I've owned it for almost 4 years...Can't go wrong, not to mention the aftermarket parts are numerous due to it sharing drivetrains with the Hyundai Veloster Turbo..
My 16’ Forte5 SX doesn’t disappoint, I live in the US and can’t get an i30N so I’ve found this car great but cannot find much of an aftermarket for go-fast parts. A lot of companies will say it fits Veloster turbo but not my car. I think they don’t have the data to know they could be wrong. I’m probing the aftermarket for this car in the US because I can track this car with ease, LimeRock is a 50mi drive.
Smartyrdumb ? I have a 2015 as well, right now I have a K&N air filter, I just ordered an exhaust from Evillamotorsports, and I just ordered a BOV
Dylan Butterfield a BOV doesn’t necessarily improve the stock Bypass valve. It’s more like a “sound plate”. It sounds cool but can actually hurt throttle response. So I’ve been told.
filming is ugly, nothing is visible!
