    This is the BEST hot and sour soup recipe ever. I've been making it regularly for the past 2 years. We've tried loads of others but Tess nails this restaurant style recipe. (*And we just love hearing that Maryland accent, reminds us of my husband's home town.) The only change I make is that I only use one kind of soy sauce because I can't get my hands on the other kind. DELISH! Making it today to cure my husband's cold! Thanks Tess.

    • @nessnixtony
      @nessnixtony 4 роки тому

      @Chris Nguyen No-- it works perfectly with just regular soy sauce and regular rice vinegar (*not Mirin). I'm sure it adds a depth of flavor with all the extra fancy stuff but it really does still taste perfectly like restaurant style hot n sour soup with the basic supplies everyone can find at their local grocery store.

    Classic ingredients. Straight forward presentation. This is a very simple and good recipe and the soup you make from it should taste great. It might have been helpful to recommend some quantities for each ingredient, as well as the various seasonings. But as we all know from cooking, a lot of the art is just adjusting the amount of seasoning and spices until it's just right for our own individual taste. I make my own H&S soup and it's almost identical to the recipe here. To be honest, if you look up 20 H&S recipes on UA-cam, 18 of them will pretty much be the same as what we see here.

    EDIT: I made the soup, I bought exactly all the ingredients, I forgot,to add the eggs but the soup was delicious. I never had this soup before since the chinese restaurants in my country doesn't sell it as far I know. Or it must have another name? Anybody from the Netherlands who knows the name what is used in Dutch Chinese restaurants for this soup?

    Add chicken and stir.
    Add soy sauce, black vinegar, dark soy sauce and white pepper.
    Stir, bring back up to a simmer and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
    Add in cornstarch slurry and bring back up to a boil.
    Pour beaten eggs over top, wait 5-10 seconds and then give gentle
    stirs.
    Add tofu and cook for another minute.
    Serve and garnish with chopped green onions.
    Enjoy.

    Excellent video and recipe. For me at least, I don't put in any meat, just tofu.

    I would love to make this soup. The video doesn’t include quantities of ingredients. Is there a written recipe index that I can read?
