Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are the games I've made the most Pokemon videos on this year, and today we are going to beat Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire How Nintendo Intended! We will be following the Ruby and Sapphire guide by BradyGames from 2003, which was officially licensed by Nintendo!

Idk if it's a good title for the video. It's a good joke to be in the video but as a title I don't think so. It would confuse people who aren't in on the joke.

I was crazy about berries as a kid too, I'm still planning on going back to Pokemon x and getting the rest of the berries.
Berry collecting is my favorite side mission.
Berry farming is a gateway to 100% completionist playthroughs smh
@@alw2839 omega Ruby and alpha sapphire give you, like, all of them. It's actually insane. Once you get to the berry master you can take the crop.

Nintendo: *We're gonna select Duo Battles as our flagship competitive mode*
Also Nintendo: *Let's make 90% of Duo Battles optional in the very game that introduces the concept*
One of the reasons i loved emerald was the bigger focus on double battles
To be fair double battles became the official format in gen 4 (i think), i guess game freak didn't focus on them too much in R/S in fear that people could hate them
Play pokemon colosseum and pokemon XD:gale of darkness. More then 99% of the battles there are all double battles.
This was the opening games for dub battles as a kid I didnt try to avoid them I dove into them head first so nintendo wanted to give people who didnt like the
Addittion of dub battles to still play and beat the game while obviously still including dub battles
I would get so mad when I would walk into the view of one trainer as another turned. Thus, being robbed of my double battle.
Bet Brawley's gym would have been a lot easier if you had a.... - looks at smudged word on arm - Ralis....

Now I'm just imaging the fresh hell of being a 30-year-old employee who doesn't even know what Pokemon is when their boss comes by, slams copies of Ruby and Sapphire on their desk, and tells them that have a week to create the perfect guide for both of them.

According to the fire red and leaf green prima guidebook, eevee evolves into espeon at night and into umbreon during the day, and with max friendship golbat will evolve into... golbat
I mean, technically if you're raising a Golbat before beating the main story, that's technically true? It was before gen 4 where if the Pokémon evolved into something that's not in the Kanto dex, the evolution cutscene would play out, but partway through it'd just suddenly stop. Starting in gen 4, they just let it evolve anyway. But yeah, it treats the Pokémon as if it just evolves into itself.
God I hated the prima guides for Ruby and Sapphire, especially after I had such a good experience with the Versus Strategy guides I had for gen 1 and 2. Hell the gen 1 guide was actually how I learned about how to use missingno and the gen 2 guide had the cloning trick

Also golbat doesn’t learn fly but Crobat does.
@@Cardmaster12 Either that's incorrect, or it was changed in gen 4, cuz I remember using a Zubat as my Fly user in a Pearl playthrough before. I'll look it up later, though.
@@ethnictendo it was changed after Gen 3, which actually made it more infuriating tbh
Best part was how it missed arguably the two most important side quests: New Mauville and the old ship, which have key TMs and a water stone. Amusingly the guide didn’t even take you through the second area at all.
tm 19 giga drain from a lady on r 123 if you show her a grass type (Lombre). tm 37 sludge bomb in dewford town (but I don't think that's there when you first get there). tm 24 thunderbolt (to replace the woeful spark on manectric) from wattson for the new mauvile deal.
plus, they say there's a lot of water in hoenn. you know how many freaking routes there are for you to surf down and pick up items and trainer battles? Did they even go to pacidlog town?
Eh, they're optional areas and mentioned at the back. And when going from Dewford to Slateport, it mentions the abandoned ship and 'you need surf to get here'.

Fun fact: sapphire has sea themed names as the first suggestion (Marina for girl, Sean for boy) and Ruby has land themed names (Terra for girl, Landon for boy)

Or Ralis, the pokemon that evolves into the Zora King after his mother the Queen gets assassinated and all the populace of their dominion gets converted into living "souls" then freezed alive in a pool below the throne room :(
After that you can evolve your garivore to kirlis, then nega kirlis
But it has a branch evolution, if you give it a pronoun stone it become gallideo then alternate-kirlis and nega alternate-kirlis
Zubat is so under rated, especially in 2nd gen when crobat enters the picture.
Crobat is one of my favorite pokemon, but my deeply ingrained hatred is still present after all these years. There's actually an article written on how Mt. Moon taught a generation of people to despise the poor lil bat funny enough
@@Lucaccino17 i feel it, I remember playing pokemon blue when I was like 5, low key raging at all the damn zubats. But whenever I play fire red, or leaf green I grab zubat. Supersonic, bite, and wing attack just tear through the right pokemon and there's nothing they can do if you keep them confused.
Don’t forget that they decided to buff Leech Life in Sun and Moon, which makes them more than just annoying
at one point recently my Crobat had swagger, confuse ray and supersonic xD. Swagger being the best of the three, as for some reason every turn they are confused it keeps taking more damage (unlike other confuse techniques that take the same amount roughly, each turn).
@@bewd4310 that is due to their attack being increased from Swagger. Hitting yourself does Physical Attack damage so increasing it will do more

I'm amused at how the guide assumes that the player is playing Ruby and chose Mudkip.
Because here in Italy we had an unofficial guide that, alongside other issues, assumed that the player is playing Sapphire and chose Torchic.
I feel like torchic is a bad starter in sapphire because of team agua

I heard that it's a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance(highest chance from all conditions) if you are female gender in the game named marina with a shiny treecko with exactly 32 special attack and 23 speed. Then you have to get a shiny ralts in 10000 attempts exactly and have to get it. I have never seen it but apparently it looks like a colour swapped ralts and evolves into krilai then garvibore or if evolved with a dawn stone, gaddaiu
@@frankzhang866 Fun fact: Gaddaiu existed in gen 3, despite Gallade not existing until gen 4. Gallade was based on Gaddaiu.

Zigzagoon and Wingull were crucial for me. Item pick up, HM moves, and Wingull that was caught at level 4 after the rival battle went all the way to beat the Elite
There's an inherent charm to these old strategy guides in how they were both fun to have, but also frustrating when you saw a major error in the writing or in strategy. Or when they forgot key info. Or when they purposefully withheld info you were okay with spoiling.

Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game that I ever played through on my own back in 2003 when I was ten. My brother had a GBC and had played Yellow and Crystal before and I remember him telling me to choose the girl character and to choose Torchic like May did in the anime lol I also bought this exact same guide with the game! My brother ended up getting Sapphire and we got a link cable to trade Pokemon back and forth and we were so disappointed that all you get for completing the Pokedex was just a certificate!
It should be a secret Pokémon that is the most powerful on the game and well done
In emerald, if you catch every pokemon in the regional pokedex, you get to pick one johto starter

I remember first playing ruby, I was exploring ever grande and accidentally started fighting the elite 4 really under levelled
The lack of mentioning the pokemon of the safari zone is awful, so many good and cool pokemon in it, the writter probably didnt bother to enter it lol
It was mentioned the guys doin them guides were time crunched so they had to do what they did

Great job! I actually found an Authentic Ruby I bought and intend to play it, when I went back to serebii to look at what team i'd build, I did notice that gen 3 was a lot lot lot more confined than I realized. Keep up the work!

I can understand on the video that have more views than the subscribers counts, but I have also seen UA-camrs that have more than 500k subscribers but still claim that more than 50% of his viewers ain't subscribe. And his video barely reach 100k views each. Randomly around 40-50k views. Than what the hell are those 60/80% of you subscribers doing. Don't they watch your video. Why those that did not subscribe that are watching your video. 😌

@@aliNET86 It is very common for most of your subscribers not to watch all of your videos, it's been that way since the beginning. Almost no channel actually has the majority of their subscribers faithfully keep up with their content.

Btw buying views is actually very normal/common, especially for streamers. This was done to boost the channel to the viewers. Supposedly when the views is high, it's increase the interest for people to watch the streams. That's what I know. Just sharing some knowledge. 🤗
